Apologies From The MSM Over Palin

First Sally Quinn from Newsweek demeaned women with this diatribe:

From what little we know about her, she seems to be a bright, attractive, impressive person. She certainly has been successful in her 44 years. But is she ready to be president?

And now we learn the 17-year-old daughter, Bristol, is pregnant. She and the father of the child plan to marry. This may be a hard one for the Republican conservative family-values crowd to swallow. Of course, this can happen in any family. But it must certainly raise the question among the evangelical base about whether Sarah Palin has been enough of a hands-on mother.

McCain claims he knew about the pregnancy, and was not at all concerned. Why not? Not only do we have a woman with five children, including an infant with special needs, but a woman whose 17-year-old child will need her even more in the coming months. Not to mention the grandchild. This would inevitably be an enormous distraction for a new vice president (or president) in a time of global turmoil. Not only in terms of her job, but from a media standpoint as well.

~~~
Is she prepared for the all-consuming nature of the job? She is the mother of five children, one of them a four-month-old with Down Syndrome. Her first priority has to be her children. When the phone rings at three in the morning and one of her children is really sick what choice will she make?
Then she dug the hole deeper by implying that if someone is deeply religious then they must believe women should only be at home taking care of the kids:
Anne Graham Lotz is Billy Graham’s daughter. She is a Southern Baptist. She has her own “ministry” but she is not allowed to be a pastor. The Southern Baptist Convention has said that the office of pastor is limited to men. In fact, some years ago, Lotz spoke to a group of preachers from different denominations and many of the men stood up and turned their backs to her. IN 2001, Morley Safer did an interview with her for “60 Minutes” where she related this incident.
At the time, the president of the Southern Baptist Convention, Dr. James Merritt, said, “There are two institutions which God said the leadership is male only. One is the home where the Scripture is plain where it says that the husband is to be the head of the home. And the other is the church where the Scripture says a man should be in the role of a senior pastor.”
This is John McCain’s base. This is Sarah Palin’s base.
I would like to hear from evangelical women and Southern Baptist women. I would like them to write in and tell us if they believe that a woman has no right to be a pastor and must answer to her husband. And I would like to know what you think about Palin’s priorities as a mother and public official.
Uh, sorry….that is not their base. Just because someone is pro-life doesn’t make them a hardcore baptist.
Then she implied that either she would be a bad mother or a bad VP….a women with five kids couldn’t possibly do both you see:
I would like to hear what women think of her priorities. Do they believe that her first priority is as a mother or as a governor? Will her first priority be as a mother or as a Vice President or a President? One in three Vice Presidents become President. John McCain is a 72-year-old cancer survivor. As Vice President, Palin could ascend to the highest office in the land at any moment. Do women believe she should relegate her job to second place or her children to second place? Does she have to make such a choice? Every woman, and particularly every woman who works, including me, understands that the conflicts and the guilt are always there in a way that they are not for men.
I would like to know what women think of Sarah Palin’s judgment in accepting the role as McCain’s running mate, knowing the pain and humiliation the publicity would cause her daughter, the boyfriend and the soon-to-be-born grandchild
And now two days later?
BREAKING NEWS: Quinn: “I was wrong” about Palin
That’s what Sally Quinn just said on FOX News. Background. She was on O’Reilly.
The MSM has taken a step back from the ledge, as most people thought they would after their frantic race for a scoop…no matter how low and disgusting the rumor they were “scooping” was. It all backfired and they are stepping back.
Doesn’t mean they won’t continue to put the story about the dismissal of a political appointee by Sarah Palin front and center….anything to help their messiah keep the lead you see. Even if the story is baloney.
As for the lefty blogosphere…no apologies will be coming from them for the smears against the children of Sarah’s for being sluts, apologies for their nutty babygate, or the supposed Sarah Palin affair with a friend that led to a divorce. That last one was the latest to be smothered by facts as Ed Morrisey noted. He concludes his post with something we all should be thankful for. The continued Palinsterics:
Keep it up — please. Keep informing the public that women have to stay on the ideological reservation or they have to stay in the kitchen, and that they’re not really free to have their own minds. Keep punishing those who express their own opinions and defy the media with despicable slurs and innuendo and by all means keep attacking their children. None of that will have any effect on Palin’s credibility — but it will strip her critics of theirs.
