OK, I agree with the liberals that we should give those who are already mooching off the taxpayer a free cell phone. Cell phones are cheap, cheap, cheap to make, no not Blackberries or I-phones, just a simple, basic cell phone. So give them a cell phone but no cell phone service. Section 8 is a taxpayer ripoff. Let me tell you how it works: you have a rent house that you would normally charge $800/month in rent for. But if you list it with the feds as a Section 8 house, you can charge $1000+/month. The government places someone in the home and guarantees you the rent. Now, maybe you live in a small town (like I do) and there are very few city ordinances. Before you know it, you have barking dogs that might be of the pitbull type, or in my case, smelly goats and chickens. It took me one year to get my small town to honor the “no livestock within the city limits” ordinance because our mayor (at that time) was a big Dem and told me I just didn’t like minorities. But one of the chickens was badly injured and the owers did nothing to help it. A call to the SPCA in Dallas got the mayor’s attention and the goats and chickens were removed by the animal control officer the very same day.

As to the woman who moved into a gated community with NINE kids; did no one tell her abortion is legal? Or that she can use her EBT card to get the $9.00 cash to pay for birth control pills?

It won’t end until Americans start saying “No More” and mean it.

I guess the idea is that this is some of that “red meat” for the base, and the base apparently has a lot of anger and contempt for poor minorities. I live near the area where those mansions are. That’s why I’m upset. It’s not fair that I live in a modest three-bedroom house, work pay taxes etc. and they’re living a mansion!

How is this fair? We work, pay taxes live within a few miles of those mansions in a small modest home, and Section 8 recipients live in a mansion, while I’m paying taxes on it. We make good money, too! 🙂

Look, I’m not against helping the poor, if they legitimately need it. I really want to help people who need a helping hand because I once needed help, so I understand. But these home are like 3,000 – 4,500 square feet. They get utility vouchers to pay for electric, ebt for food, free medicaid and the Obamaphones. I think all this is doing more harm than good. If someone hooked me up like that when I first started out, I don’t think I’d have any incentive to work!

At least I’m financially independent, and we our HOMEOWNERS. But it seems rather odd that we make good money and even we’re not living in a Section 8 mansion! Just the property taxes alone will run about 1 grand a month. And insurance could run about 5 grand or more a year. Think about it: That’s about $17,000 a year, just on property taxes and insurance. The electricity has to be around $400-$500 a month! I know the going rate in the area. The lady who delivers the mail lives in a large home in that area. She was complaining how her insurance went up. So I am quite well of how much it costs.

I don’t give a damn if the free cell phones were given out by Lincoln himself. Why am I paying taxes on my phone service to provide a cell phone for someone who should have a quarter for a pay phone? Oh, that’s right, the telephone companies stopped putting pay phones in low income housing areas because a) the coin bins got broken out and the money taken or b) the whole damn phone got stolen.

And why the mention of “poor minorities?” Tell me, Tom, in a nation where an education up to the 12th grade is free, why are people poor? Do you think that the Hispanic who grew up in the barrio and made good use of the education he/she got had a better chance that the Hispanic that grew up in the same barrio who didn’t? And what constitutes being “poor?” Explain to me your definition of “poor.”

Are you poor if you own a car? Are you poor if you have central heat and air conditioning? Are you poor if you have a TV, microwave, can afford to eat out at McDonald’s?

You leftwingers have redefined the definition of poor in order to redistribute the earnings of the hard work of others. Our “poor” live better than the middle class in most European nations, yet all we hear from you, and your ilk, is blathering about the “poor” and of course, to add effect, minorities. Guess what, Bubba, in my state, I am a minority but I don’t see you demanding that anyone give me anything for free.

What the free phone program refers to is the Lifeline Program.

No doubt the dead people are using the free cell phones given to them by President Obama to arrange transportation to their polling places on Election Day.

Like most liberals, you are lousey at answering questions. But I understand that answering questions destroys the liberal mantra about the “poor.”

You also indicate that the “poor” are the “most disenfranchised and least powerful” among us. Not so. No one segment of our society has more politicians pandering to them for their votes based on the free stuff that those politicans will give them. The “poor” is the most talked about segment, being the favorite group Democrats have and more legislation is about the “poor” than the rich.

And yes, wealth is redistributed downward. When middle class Americans work 40-60 hours a week to support their families with no handouts from other taxpayers, and they are taxed to provide free housing, free food, free medical care, free cash, free telephones (the list goes on) to others that politicians deem are deserving of another mans labor, that is downward wealth distribution.

What you liberals will never address is the cause of poverty. I suggest you read the history of Walter Williams, the economist, who grew up in a slum. Or perhaps the history of Clarence Thomas, Starr Parker, or any other minority that grew up in slums and/or poverty and explain to me the difference between them and the welfare mom who has been supported by taxpayers her entire life.

To live in poverty in the United States boils down to personal choices. They choose to not finish high school, although almost every high school in the nation offers evening classes for a GED. They choose to have children they can’t afford with absentee fathers who disappear as soon as the woman tells him she is pregnant; they choose to turn to crime for an easy buck instead of trying to get an education (even just a high school education) and learning a trade so they can earn an honest dollar; they chose to turn to alcohol, or drugs, instead of trying to make something of themselves. Can you give me any logical reason that a woman has nine children (as shown in ObamaNationNoMore!’s link) and there isn’t a daddy in sight?

So you explain to me why people in the U.S. are “poor” right after you define the term “poor.” And stop spouting the liberal “Conservatives just hate the poor” that is only designed for the purpose of garnering votes for those who live high off the hog. But I know you won’t. Because honesty is not part of the liberal DNA.

The house in the link above (in Nevada) very modest in comparison of the homes you can get in S. Florida (see link below).

The ones in S. Florida blow those in the WSJ away. But still, it’s a good story to read. At least that lady has a job. Her house in Nevada is pretty nice. It’s bigger than mine, and we don’t even have a pool! Man, I wish they would have hooked me up like that when I first started out!

I just don’t understand why the Obamaphones are such a big deal with the ObamaMansions are mind blowing. The phones are one thing; the mansions are another! How come they don’t make a video about the ObamaMansions? If more people knew about it, they’d be rioting.

Think about it, your working hard, paying your taxes, saving, investing, going to school or paying back your student loan, paying property taxes (if your a homeowner), yet you’re not living in an ObamaMansion. On the other hand, some people are getting free health care, free or subsidized ObamaMansions, utility vouchers, child care vouchers, Medicaid, Obamaphones and the coveted EBT card. Why bother working if you can get all that for free? Read the comments in the WSJ article I posted!

Obviously, you can’t get vouchers for homes like that in all areas, but when you live in an area where you can, it does seem unfair! I think it seems unfair to people who live in areas where they can’t get those homes either. I talked to one lady who applied for a Section 8 voucher, and she said they don’t give vouchers to homes like that where she lives. She seemed pretty upset she couldn’t get one. A lot of people are upset! I just don’t think enough people realize just how huge the mansions are in S. Florida (they’re like 4,500 square feet). I know just how luxurious these homes are because I live right by that development (See link below). The home in that development in Coral Springs, Florida blows that home in the WSJ away! The ObamaMansion in Coral Springs is three times the size of the home I presently live in. How do you think I feel?

@Enchanted: She does have a job. She was getting paid $11 an hr., from my understanding. In fact, you can still be a low-wage earner and qualify for the following government assistance: Medicaid, Section 8 vouchers, ebt cards, child-care vouchers, utility vouchers, free cell-phone assistance, SSDI (up to $600 a month), even welfare. You just can’t make a lot of money, or you have to do it under-the-books.
