Politics As Usual – Left Frames Its Philosophy As Right-Wing [Reader Post]

Have you ever wondered why Fascism (essentially socialism) and Nazism (again, essentially socialism) are considered to be right-wing political philosophies? It’s because the left-wing and its obedient lap-dog, the MSM, have gone to great lenghts to recast them as right-wing philosophies.

In an effort to create as much distance as possible between Hitler and his socialist principles, Hitler has deliberately been mislabeled as extreme right wing by the socialist movement. Adolf Hitler and his National Socialists (the Nazi party) represented extreme left wing politics. Leftists are quick to cite the fact that one of Hitler’s first actions was to get rid of the leftist socialists & trade unions. But what leftists fail to point out is that the socialists & trade unions were comprised of and led by communists, the main enemy, according to Hitler, of Germany. They also cite that Hitler, in 1919, attended a German Workers Party (GWP) meeting. The subject of the talk being given at the meeting was “How and by what means is Socialism to be destroyed?” But what leftists fail to point out is that Hitler soon joined the GWP, became their leader, and renamed the GWP as the National Socialist German Workers Party (NAZI) to try to appeal to socialists.

“The main point is this – to detach from the genocide of the holocaust, leftists have not only disowned the fascists (and especially the Nazis) they have gone to the trouble of pinning them to the right. Of course it’s a complete lie, and that’s why the left defends it so savagely. Anyone that points out the truth is attacked in massive fashion.”

Further, the left “… attempt[s] to recast Mussolini as ‘right wing’ although his relativistic, atheist philosophy and socialist roots were distinctly ‘left-wing’.”

David Limbaugh, in 2011, wrote: “Redistributionism is at the heart of their philosophy. As political theory and actual practice throughout history demonstrate, both communism and fascism are left-wing political and economic ideologies – as far as they can be from the right wing of the spectrum.”

Dr. Walter E. Williams, in 2012, wrote: “Today’s leftists, socialists and progressives would bristle at the suggestion that their agenda differs little from those of Nazi, Soviet and Maoist mass murderers.”

In the irony department, I find these quotes from leftists to be quite humorous: “Hitler was indeed right wing, his totalitarian policies were designed to remove all class structure.” and, “His policies were indeed similar to the 20th century Communist policies, which are extreme right winged regimes.” So now the policies of removing class structure and communism are somehow right-wing policies. I guess the left or the MSM has never heard of redistribution or the EPA. Further, isn’t it rather ironic that Hitler said, “… we are enemies of today’s capitalistic economic system for the exploitation of the economically weak.” How many times have we heard Obama use the same words, the same idea, to further his economic policies?

Want confirmation of leftist effort? Consider this: Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Secretary Janet Napolitano, in April 2009, issued a report entitled “Rightwing Extremism: Current Economic and Political Climate Fueling Resurgence in Radicalization and Recruitment.” The report says, “The economic downturn and the election of the first African American president present unique drivers for rightwing radicalization.” But the report provides no examples or incidences of rightwing radicalization. The report says, “… no specific information that domestic rightwing terrorists are currently planning acts of violence.”

The liberal blog ThinkProgress.org had these three “take-away” points about the DHS report:

Anti-immigration: “Rightwing extremist groups’ frustration over a perceived lack of government action on illegal immigration has the potential to incite individuals or small groups toward violence.”

Recruiting returning vets: “Rightwing extremists will attempt to recruit and radicalize returning veterans in order to exploit their skills and knowledge derived from military training and combat.”

Gun-related violence: “Heightened interest in legislation for tighter firearms … may be invigorating rightwing extremist activity, specifically the white supremacist and militia movements.”

And guess what! The very liberal MSM ate up the DHS report, as can be seen here, here, and here.

Here is another confirmation, this one from Gary M. Grobman, a professor at Marylhurst University:

The government of Nazi Germany was a fascist, totalitarian state. Totalitarian regimes, in contrast to a dictatorship, establish complete political, social, and cultural control over their subjects, and are usually headed by a charismatic leader [sound familiar?]. Fascism is a form of right-wing totalitarianism which emphasizes the subordination of the individual to advance the interests of the state. Nazi fascism’s ideology included … the use of private paramilitary organizations to stifle dissent and terrorize opposition, and the centralization of decision-making by, and loyalty to, a single leader.” [emphasis mine]

Need even more confirmation? Please read this article.

As Dr. Josef Goebbles, the extraordinary NAZI propagandist, said, “If you tell a lie big enough and keep repeating it, people will eventually come to believe it.” I think Goebbles’ philosophy fits here quite well! Especially when academia and the MSM keep repeating the lie.

But that’s just my opinion.

When discussing political ideologies, most people think of a straight line graph, where liberty and freedom, or classical liberalism and conservatism, just to the left or right of the midpoint on that line. And they also believe that fascism is to the extreme right of that midpoint and socialism is to the extreme left.

They couldn’t be more wrong in thinking that way. In reality, classical liberalism and conservatism are closer to the extreme rightward point on that line, and fascism and socialism are merely paths towards the extreme leftward point of complete statism.

Our modern day Democratic party is led by, and half of the GOP is inhabited by, people who would move us, as a people, towards that left point on the line. That they do so by different means shouldn’t be the issue being discussed. Rather, it’s that both major parties are taking us that way that should be worrisome to We, the People.

Unfortunately, we, as a people, have been bombarded with the idea that fascism takes us to the right while socialism takes us to the left, and that our goal should be to stay as close to the middle as possible. How stupid we are, as a people, that we constantly exchange one set of yokes for another, every time a new election comes around, while the path we are driven on will take us inevitably towards complete tyranny, no matter who is handling the reigns.

As an addition to the above, when people think politically the way that the majority tends to, it takes away from the actual debates and discussions going on.

Take, for example, this ‘Sequestration’ idea. Regardless of who suggested it, currently it is being demonized by the Democratic politicians, and championed by some on the right. As such, the people see it as a continuation of the ideas of yesteryear, and believe the hype about it that the left is pushing.

Great. So now people are into believing that by somehow spending less than was projected, but still more than last year, we will somehow all go under because the government isn’t spending enough.

Are we really that stupid, as a people?

Yes, Hitler disbanded the communist infested unions and replaced them with a National Labor Bund, under his complete control, to put the squeeze on the Krupps, Siemens, Farbens, etc., so he could put his rearmament program into overdrive. The nationalization of banks and actual infrastructure projects( autobahn, volkswagens, civilian police force-SA to SS, gestapo, racial purity, etc., were all implemented to garner strict control. The military was defanged and reorganized. Gun control was put in place. The greening of the environment was emphasized. The mush head youth were indoctrinated. All media, sang the Nazi tune. The left are masters of the power grab.

The German Industrialists loved Hitler. The right wing of American politics loved Hitler, until Pearl Harbor. Henry Ford liked Hitler.

This is should be the time when Believing exactly the opposite of what the Left Ideologists say as the Real Truth…. and how about some “Real History” Real US History thrown in there too.. – not the make-believe fantasy history the Left loves to espouse….

Or better yet, look at many of the protest signs at (Conservative) Tea Party Rally’s and Protests….do they even remotely sound like a bunch of communists?…Socialists?…Fascists?….

like…Less Taxes! Limited Government! Liberty! Freedom! Honor The Constitution!!! No to Socialism! Balanced Budgets! Lower Debt! Oh, and my favorite “Don’t believe the Liberal Media” “STOP Punishing Success – STOP Rewarding Failure”…. “Debt is the Problem”

Yea, all that “must” sound a lot like Right Wing Extremism to me [sarc]

Thanks for linking. It really is about the smear, and taking the initiative. When a Conservatvie or “Calssic liberal” uses facts to make a point, it is very easy to hurl the fascist/Nazi smear, Then, it’s not about facts, it’s about defending oneself against a series of smears and lies.

@john:

You are making the mistake that I noted above. That you believe the “right”, or establishment GOP, wishes to move the country one direction while the left wants to move it another. They both want the same end goal. The question is how it will be accomplished, and who will be in power when it gets there.

Hence, the fact that you seem to be pushing for the “left’s” solution to problems would be funny, if it weren’t so serious an issue.

I’d suggest that you really try to understand what a conservative is, and what a classical liberal is, and what they both stand for. You might be surprised at how closely aligned their philosophies really are, and how different the classical liberal is from the current leftist progressive. Then again, if you believe in progressivism, you may not be all that surprised.

The issue seems to be that your most basic premise (that Fascism and Nazism are “essentially socialism”) is patent nonsense. As Mussolini himself said, Fascism is corporatism, which is the opposite of socialism.

johngalt
the GOP CONSERVATIVES TAKE A LOT FROM THE LEFT THEY TAKE INSULTS AND BASHING AND TAKE THE MEDIA DESTRUCTIVE BLABBLE, THEY ARE THE TOLERANT , UNBREAKABLE SUPERIOR DICIPLINED IN THEIR INTELLIGENCE AND BEHAVIORS, IN THEIR BELIEFS UNTOUCH BY ANY BUMP

DON’T YOU THINK THE AMERICANS WOULD BE HAPPIER AND RICHER IF THE CONSERVATIVES WOULD TAKE COMMAND,
YES OF COURSE, THE PEOPLE COULD FEEL THE SECURITY OF THE SOLID VALUES UNCHANGED EVER OF THE CONSERVATIVES, AND THE WEALTHY WOULD COME BACK AND CREATE JOBS FOR THE PEOPLE TO MAKE A LIVING AND FEEL GOOD TO HAVE A SECURE JOB FOR YEARS WHERE THEY CAN RAISE A FAMILY KNOWING THEY CAN DEPEND ON THE GOVERNMENT OF THE CONSERVATIVES
WHO LIKE A ROCK WOULD MANAGE INSTEAD OF RUIN LIKE WHAT WE ARE SEEING NOW,
EVEN THE BLINDS ARE SEEING IT NOW,

@Magus:

Does that mean that everything that Mussolini sad was true?
But anyway, here is what Mussolini really said:
“Fascism should more appropriately be called Corporatism because it is a merger of state and corporate power.”
Just as any good communist comrade would say :-)))
