David “The Red” Axelrod’s Communist Roots [Reader Post]

It may be accurate to blame Barack Hussein Obama for the woes that this country is facing, but the man behind the curtain, the leftist version of a Karl Rove is solely more responsible for getting him elected than any person on the planet. Since the “historic” ascendancy and 2008 election of Obama, it has come out that Axelrod is more than just a paid political hack, more than just an “adviser.” As Paul Kengor writes in the American Spectator:

“He is imager of the image and narrator of the narrative. No single person is more responsible for making Barack Obama president. Come November 2008, it was nothing short of a stunning change for America, a genuinely historical feat the man known as Ax hopes to repeat in November 2012.

And it helps that the two—story-maker and story, composer and theme—think alike. “You know, he and I share a basic worldview,” Obama told the New York Times. “I trust his basic take on what the country should be and where we need to move toward—not just on specific policy but how politics should be able to draw on our best and not our worst.”

Born in New York in 1955, Axelrod says of his parents that they were, “your classic New York leftist Democrats.” But that doesn’t really do justice to the activities of his mother, Myril Bennett Axelrod. She worked for an extremely political newspaper, the liberal New York daily, the PM.

Existing only from 1940 to 1948, the problem at the PM was infiltration by communists pushing the “Stalinist line.” One such person was a confirmed soviet spy, I.F. Stone, among many others.

Axelrod followed in his mother’s footsteps and began writing a leftist political column for a local Chicago newspaper, the Hyde Park Herald. Following his father’s suicide, young Axelrod caught the attention of two men who would be instrumental in guiding his political leanings and by extension, Barack Hussein Obama’s as well.

Don Rose and David Canter began to mentor Axelrod and this brought him to the attention of the Chicago Communist Party USA. While Rose’s involvement with CP-USA has not been established, Canter’s communist activities are well documented. His father served time in jail for radical communist activities and eventually became the secretary of the Boston Communist Party. He ran for Governor of Massachusetts on the Communist Party ticket in 1930.

Harry Canter’s devotion to the communist party earned him an audience with Stalin in 1932 – he brought along his entire family, including his son, and future Axelrod mentor, David Canter. They stayed in Moscow until 1937, when they abruptly moved back to America, locating in Chicago and the CP-USA. Here Harry caught the attention of the Democratic controlled Congress in 1944.

Harry’s grandson Evan says, “He was a Communist. He was involved in the Party, as was my father.” Evan’s father is of course the above mentioned Axelrod mentor, David Canter.

David, like his father also caught the attention of Congress. He was called in to testify in 1962 before the Democrat-run House Committee on Un-American Activities, where he refused to answer questions about past or present membership in the Communist Party. Canter pleaded the Fifth Amendment from start to finish. Among the activities he was being investigated for was the riots during the 1968 Democratic National Convention. His publishing house was said by one source to have been a “great help” to one of the communist publications that had agitated and disrupted the convention: “We wouldn’t be anywhere without him,” said the source.

His partner, Don Rose was knee-deep in subversive activities as well. He was a member of the National Mobilization Committee to End the War in Vietnam. This group, of course, was the ultimate Who’s Who of Sixties radicals, and thoroughly penetrated by communist ringleaders. Rose did press work for the Mobilization Committee and for Students for a Democratic Society (SDS). Yes, the same SDS that gave birth to Bill Ayers’ domestic communistic terrorist group, the Weather Underground.

Sensing a pattern here?

There is much more to the Axelrod/Obama story than what I have related here, but in the spirit of brevity, I shall summarize. You can always follow the links at the end of my article to read the details for yourself. One small tidbit is the fact that Axelrod got his job at the Chicago Tribune via a glowing letter of recommendation by Don Rose. This led to Axelrod’s work in political campaigns such as Chicago Mayor, Harold Washington and the bow tie wearing Paul Simon.

Now does all this history mean that David Axelrod is a Communist?

No.

But what it shows, which is a very important point to remember is that he, like Barack Hussein Obama gravitated towards the extreme left, whether it was the Progressive Left, the Socialist Left or even the Communist Left. These statist ideological memes helped to form their opinion of America, and let us not forget that President Obama himself said of David Axelrod, “You know, he and I share a basic worldview. I trust his basic take on what the country should be and where we need to move toward—not just on specific policy but how politics should be able to draw on our best and not our worst.”

Please read the two articles I drew this information from, for the more informed we make ourselves about the backgrounds of our elected leaders and their advisers, the better off America will be.

My parents escaped from Russia as the USSR revolution was beginning.
They went into Europe where they were forced to escape again when Hitler began targeting people like them.
Once here, they met many ”idealists” who thought the communist party was the answer to America’s problems.
They disabused many people into leaving off going to communist party meetings.
But that leftist ideal never died.
It definitely is visible in Obama’s policies today.

I began reading this article, but after coming came across the equivocal line, “…a confirmed soviet spy, I.F. Stone…”, I decided not to bother reading the rest because it took on the character of just another cold war ‘red scare’ piece—and I just read too many of them in the reactionary-conservative blogo-sphere. I’m sure that many right-wingers believe this conjecture, or may believe it because it is written here. Maybe, to get the other side of the story, you should read: http://www.fair.org/index.php?page=3794
It seems Stone may have been more a victim of right-wing persecution than prosecution.

Antics, this was a fun piece with great information and links. Who would of thought Axlebrain was a Commie? Almost anyone who could read. LOL

But how dare you call dedicated Communists, Communists. Don’t you know, blowing their cover can ruin political careers. Bo told us in an informal discussion, he is not a Communist/Socialist. How much more do you need?

Add to the list of CPUSA influenced people that serve the current president, Valerie Jarrett, who many claim is the real force behind Barack Obama. Born in Iran, her family moved to Chicago where her mother, Barbara Bowman, co-founded the Erickson Institute whose board members included Tom Ayers (father of Bill Ayers) and Bernadette Dohrn.

Jarrett’s father in law was a confirmed member of the CPUSA, and was the driving force behind the recruitement of Harold Washington, former mayor of Chicago. It is reported that Washington has “close” ties to the Socialist Party of America. Although already divorced from Jarrett’s son, because of her close relationship with her former father-in-law, Valerie Jarrett went to work for the Washington administration, whose campaign had been run by none other than David Axelrod.

When Daley replaced Washington, Jarrett stayed on with the mayor’s office. It was during that time (1991) that she recruited one Michelle Robinson, then engaged to a community organizer named Barack Hussein Obama, Jr. who had recently graduated from Harvard Law School and was lining up a gig as project manager for Project Vote, an arm of ACORN. Jarrett, one of the most race centric members of Obama’s inner circle would have been totally familiar with anyone who was leading an ACORN voter registration drive. The web of the spider gets tighter.

Axelrod was also the one who created a campaign tactic called “astroturfing.” His campaign tactics were to reveal personal material on any opponent, and if it was not that bad, to spin the story as sordid, and then get that message out over social media sources. He was considered a master at creating an image for the candidates that hired is firm, making them more than they actually were (a talent that served a little known Illinois Senator well, who also hired Axelrod to run his state senatorial campaign after a loss the first go-round).

Scratch the surface of any of Obama’s inner circle and you will see a sea of “red.”

    @Skook:

If it walks like a duck, quacks like a duck, and looks like a duck, there is a good chance that it is, indeed, a duck.

Lib1 would have you believe that the thing you believe is a duck is actually a sparrow, or hummingbird, or eagle, or vulture, all dependent upon what he wants you to believe at any given moment.

    @Liberal1 (objectivity):
“There can be no real peace without a readiness for live-and-let-live, i.e. for coexistence with Communism. The world is going socialist in one form or another everywhere; Communism is merely the extreme form the movement takes when and where blind and backward rulers seek by terror and force to hold back the tide. ” IF Stone

“Until now, there has been only highly circumstantial evidence indicating that for several years Stone may have been a KGB agent. Now, John Earl Haynes, Harvey Klehr, and Alexander Vassiliev in their soon to be published book, Spies:The Rise and Fall of the KGB in America, present new evidence that indeed this was the case. Actual KGB files they examined, scrupulously copied from the originals by Vassiliev, offer us proof that from 1936 to 1938, Stone was in fact a Soviet agent. The chapter giving the data now appears on the website of Commentary magazine.” Ron Radosh

“Born Isidor Feinstein in Philadelphia in 1907 to Jewish immigrants from Russia, Stone dropped out of the University of Pennsylvania to become a journalist. After several years as the youngest editorial writer for a major metropolitan newspaper, the Philadelphia Record, he moved to the New York Post with instructions from its owner, J. David Stern, to transform the paper into a champion of New Deal liberalism. Stone was, however, more than just a New Deal liberal. His sympathy for Soviet communism was obvious. In June 1933, he declared that a “Soviet America” was “the one way out that could make a real difference to the working classes” and insisted that FDR’s New Deal was not reforming America but leading it to fascism, a view that then reflected the position of the Communist Party of the United States (CPUSA). ” Harvey Klehr, John Earl Haynes and Alexander Vassiliev, May 2009

After reading that article and few others, it became clear that FAIR was just another “progressive” attack dog hiding behind a phony name meant to fool those who wouldn’t do research.

Even Wikipedia knows they are leftists!
Read what’s at the link to see why they are loony left and unworthy of serious consideration.
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fairness_and_Accuracy_in_Reporting

FAIR describes itself on its website as “the national media watch group” and defines its mission as working to “invigorate the First Amendment by advocating for greater diversity in the press and by scrutinizing media practices that marginalize public interest, minority and dissenting viewpoints.” FAIR refers to itself as a “progressive group that believes that structural reform is ultimately needed to break up the dominant media conglomerates, establish independent public broadcasting and promote strong non-profit sources of information.”[1]

It’s clear they don’t care about facts, just pushing their BS. No wonder libtard1 loves them.

@LiberalZERO (objectivity): Okay zero. That you prop up a soviet agent like Stone is no surprise.

The very article you point to says that Stone did indeed cooperate with the Soviets. Then it belittles the fact that only two documents have surfaced pointing to Stone’s subversive activities and you don’t have the critical thinking skills required to wonder if there aren’t more documents not made public.

    Duh.

There’s no way that our government or the Soviets have documents that haven’t been released.

    Nope, no way.

I dare you to read the entire article, and accompanying links and come back with some critical thinking skills.

Agree. The article LibZERO pointed to had to do some pretty serious twisting to try and paint Stone as anything other than a Soviet spy.

I heard a psychologist on a show I was watching lay claim in describing the narcissist: ” that the narcissist has the uncanny ability to ‘manage’ or “draw” people into their “Story” ….

Wasn’t there an interview just recently with OFraud on CBS…” President Barack Obama says the biggest mistake of his first term as president has been his inability “to tell a story” to the American people that gives them a sense of unity and purpose and optimism, especially during tough times.”

Really read those words and pay attention to “unity” “purpose” “optimism” these are nothing but “talking points”….Obama the “Storyteller in Chief” cares nothing about any of these “words” because they are to him, “just words” and cares only if they will get him [votes] re-elected…like the many “words” he uses with ‘no positive action’ behind them…

I agree with Romney…the smart, intelligent Americans don’t want a President to tell lies stories…they don’t need stories…they need and want real Leadership…so far all we have got is an empty suit….and a bunch of socialists/communists…
