The true revolutionary is willing to sacrifice everything for an idea: the men who signed The Declaration of Independence knew that they were possibly sacrificing their wealth, their property, their very lives and those of their families if the bold gamble ended in failure. Signing the Declaration was an exercise in faith, for there were many brilliant minds that would debate the format for the Constitution; yet their signatures on that sacred document was a summary death sentence by hanging if an English Officer found a signor. If the war had been lost they would have all been hanged. These were revolutionaries with dignity and honor; instead of offering Wealth Redistribution (the theft of one man’s wealth to give to others), they offered Freedom. There were no guarantees, only opportunity; mysterious concepts that were unique to the rugged individualists of the American frontier. The opportunity to succeed or fail appealed to Americans with initiative and a work ethic: the concept is an anathema to the indigent and lazy who feel entitled because of the designation of victim, bestowed on them by our Progressive Socialists.

In the on going movement of Progressive Socialist Revolution, the ultimate goal is World Socialism. A world where all the world’s wealth is supposedly shared equally by the workers and decisions are carried out by a group of omnipotent Elite henchmen who can control huge masses of people with the ruthlessness of a Mao or Stalin type figure.

The Russian Revolution had its visionaries, initially there were two basic groups, the Menshevils and the Bolsheviks; the early Russian Marxists promised freedom, justice, happiness, and equality. The Bolsheviks, led by Lenin and Trotsky among others, gained control and devolved into a concentration of power or dictatorship rather than the Social Democracy later espoused by the Mensheviks.

Eventually, as the Revolution progressed, the Proletariat was expected to accept the loss of Freedom of the Press along with the concept of self as being necessary to advance the Revolution. Lenin and Trotsky’s despotism was intended to silence the voices of opposition, starvation, being worked to death, and murder would be inflicted upon those who spoke against the Revolution. Sacrificing culture, history and human life was deemed necessary for the sake of an idea, the progression of the Socialist Revolution.

This Revolutionary Radicalism is a concept that maintained it prominence with Radical Marxists throughout the twentieth century, happiness and the notion of self is considered a remnant of bourgeois culture were to be discarded; consequently, the needs of real people are forgotten in the revolutionary zeal of Socialism.

Obama was born into a family of radicals, was mentored by revolutionary Marxists, and befriended Radical Marxists; now, America is standing and wondering about the true political character of the undocumented enigma holding the highest office in the land. In the spirit of Stalin, the Ultimate Progressive Socialist, Obama has only appointed undistinguished mediocrities and sycophants to his administration, this emphasis on unremarkable talent serves to emphasize the meager talents of Obama and insures that there will be no rising stars to divert attention from the self-conscious Narcissist who desires to be adored and worshiped by his subjects, documented by the appearances on the mindless TV shows designed to perpetuate the myth of celebrity status. Although presidents have a degree of celebrity status, there is a difference between the celebrity status of presidents and the silly American celebrity adoration of athletes, musicians, and Hollywood types. For the first time in our history, we have a president attempting to mix the natural respect towards the dignity and honor of the office of the presidency with the classless worship of popular celebrities by our lowest common denominator.

His vision for the United States has included marginalizing the accomplishments of the United States, during his international apology tours, Obama’s essential message to the rest of the world was, “See how I have tamed the savage beast, nothing is too difficcult for the Obama.” Of course in the Plans for International Socialism, his Citizen of the World designation that he has awarded himself and intends on granting to the population of America, is merely a paragraph in his giant plan for Internatioal Socialism and his hoped for position among the Ruling Elite of the world.

Nothing has changed in either China or Russia. Both countries are run by ego-centric goons who rule with loaded guns. Sadly, we buy everything China makes, giving support to Huy Jinto (rated the 4th worse dictator on Earth) who’s government control all media and Internet access and use, and any vocal reaction is met with murder and torture.

And Russia, hmmm, where to start with this land governed by the KGB and the MOB.

One, after Obama is done, we won’t have any semblance of a democracy anymore.

Two, we have a Republic, not a democracy.

Three, does he mean, “transparency for thee, but not for me”?

Four, I agree with challenging elected officials, but not necessarily on this. I believe in challenging elected officials over their votes on legislation, and how they have gained from it. I believe in challenging elected officials over obvious overreaches by the federal government that also obviously run afoul of our Constitution. I believe in challenging our elected officials to explain just how spending other people’s money, and creating deficits of momentous proportions, creates an atmosphere beneficial to business in general. I believe in challenging our elected officials to recite paragraphs from the Constitution that supports their positions and votes on all legislation.

This is an excerpt from an e-mail I received the other day from a friend and brother in arms. My friend was an unwilling guest of the Communists in Cambodia for a year in 1972 and trained muslims to fight against the Russians in Afganistan. He states; “On the other hand I believe certain people were put on this earth because THEY NEED KILLING. In this group I put any communist or even Islamist who believes he honors his God by murdering others simply because they refuse to bow down.” I completely agree. Now we have a hybrid muslim/marxist as POTUS. If you want true change, suggest you cast a vote on Nov 2 to get rid of the vermin now in charge.

Romeo, excellent suggestion; although, I thin we should illustrate with crystal clarity that the change of the Progressive Socialists led by Obama has already been tried in China and Russia and that the results were written in the blood of innocents. A person can say anything about anyone, when he doesn’t have to take responsibility for what he says, with documentation. Where did you get the idea the Stalin is “the Ultimate Progressive Socialist”? You know what this article reminds me of? Some Bolshevik propaganda flyers—complete with name calling and personal degradation. Or maybe it’s more like an example of Fascistic dogma. Check this out with historical documents. His own book? Where he states he sought out Marxists as mentors? Including Frank Marshall Davis, known communist, who Obama talks about in his book as Frank, a close family friend?

There were 5 signers of the Declaration of Independence that were captured by the British. None were ever hanged nor even prosecuted for that act.

Only 1 was captured/arrested solely for signing the Declaration of Independence,that being Richard Stockton. He was captured by American Tories ( they were considered to be social conservatives who did not want the status quo to change) and imprisoned as a common criminal. Yes, comprehension is critical. These five were prisoners, and they were not hung. Or threatened with hanging. Skookum was incorrect in writing that if captured these men would be summarily executed. Well these 5 were captured they were not executed. Skookum made an absolute statement with no qualifiers. Perhaps Skookum himself might wish to give his opinion. Do you know anything at all about the Founding Fathers?

Do you know anything at all about the penalties for treason? Ever heard of someone being hung then drawn and quartered?

Ever heard the famous quote from Ben Franklin:

We must all hang together, or assuredly we shall all hang separately.

Now what in the world would old Ben be talking about? “Hang”….what could he have been referring to? I believe that Ben may have known a thing or two about what the possibilities were.

Here is what Benjamin Harrison said to Elbridge Gerry, a fellow signer:

“I shall have a great advantage over you, Mr. Gerry, when we are all hung for what we are now doing. From the size and weight of my body I shall die in a few minutes; but from the lightness of your body, you will dance in the air an hour or two before you are dead!”

So, there are two more guys who were there and they were talking to one another about….wait for it….being hung and how Mr. Harrison, a rather large man, would have a distinct advantage on the gallows compared to Mr. Gerry who was short and had a small stature.

A bit of macabre humor to relieve the tension in the room as each of these men signed what literally could have been their death warrants.

Finally, in the final lines of the Declaration, they pledged to one another, their lives, their fortunes, their sacred honor. Why would they find it necessary to pledge their lives to one another if their lives were not being endangered?

Yep, Skookum got it right and the signatories were lucky that they didn’t find themselves dangling at the end of a rope.

We shouldn’t be worrying about a Manchurian Candidate. We should be worrying about a Manchurian Chip. Such vulnerabilities aren’t the result of some left-leaning politician. They’re the result of American investors seeking to maximize profits.

Obama no doubt is a pawn in the overall scheme in creating a socialist America. But the big picture is far worst. If the progressives can get a strong grip on our country and bring it down to a socialist level, it then leads the way into uniting the world in a socialist network or a one world government.

I respect that not everyone here thinks like I do, being a christian. But if you ask me, the end is inevitable. It will happen. But I still think we should all fight tooth and nail and if necessary, to the death to try and postpone what will happen.

And when someone who graduates in the bottom 10% of their high school class has to correct his more learned citizens maybe YOU should start taking a second look at your own sense of American history. Perhaps tell us what percent of Americans were eligible to vote after our revolution and freedom was established ? Tell us how social conservatives fought against giving ordinary Americans the right to vote, how they fought against giving women the right to vote, against giving Blacks the right to vote. These were issues that transcended both political parties. And when the liberals/progressives were victorious, our country was stronger and better for it.

The Americans Who Risked Everything

Much To Lose

What kind of men were the 56 signers who adopted the Declaration of Independence and who, by their signing, committed an act of treason against the crown? To each of you, the names Franklin, Adams, Hancock, and Jefferson are almost as familiar as household words. Most of us, however, know nothing of the other signers. Who were they? What happened to them?

I imagine that many of you are somewhat surprised at the names not there: George Washington, Alexander Hamilton, Patrick Henry. All were elsewhere.

Ben Franklin was the only really old man. Eighteen were under 40; three were in their 20s. Of the 56 almost half – 24 – were judges and lawyers. Eleven were merchants, 9 were landowners and farmers, and the remaining 12 were doctors, ministers, and politicians.

With only a few exceptions, such as Samuel Adams of Massachusetts, these were men of substantial property. All but two had families. The vast majority were men of education and standing in their communities. They had economic security as few men had in the 18th century.

Each had more to lose from revolution than he had to gain by it. John Hancock, one of the richest men in America, already had a price of 500 pounds on his head. He signed in enormous letters so that his Majesty could now read his name without glasses and could now double the reward. Ben Franklin wryly noted: “Indeed we must all hang together, otherwise we shall most assuredly hang separately.” Fat Benjamin Harrison of Virginia told tiny Elbridge Gerry of Massachusetts: “With me it will all be over in a minute, but you, you will be dancing on air an hour after I am gone.”

These men knew what they risked. The penalty for treason was death by hanging. And remember, a great British fleet was already at anchor in New York Harbor.

They were sober men. There were no dreamy-eyed intellectuals or draft card burners here. They were far from hot-eyed fanatics, yammering for an explosion. They simply asked for the status quo. It was change they resisted. It was equality with the mother country they desired. It was taxation with representation they sought. They were all conservatives, yet they rebelled.

It was principle, not property, that had brought these men to Philadelphia. Two of them became presidents of the United States. Seven of them became state governors. One died in office as vice president of the United States. Several would go on to be U.S. Senators. One, the richest man in America, in 1828 founded the Baltimore and Ohio Railroad. One, a delegate from Philadelphia, was the only real poet, musician and philosopher of the signers (it was he, Francis Hopkinson not Betsy Ross who designed the United States flag).

Richard Henry Lee, a delegate from Virginia, had introduced the resolution to adopt the Declaration of Independence in June of 1776. He was prophetic in his concluding remarks: “Why then sir, why do we longer delay? Why still deliberate? Let this happy day give birth to an American Republic. Let her arise not to devastate and to conquer but to reestablish the reign of peace and law.

“The eyes of Europe are fixed upon us. She demands of us a living example of freedom that may exhibit a contrast in the felicity of the citizen to the ever increasing tyranny which desolates her polluted shores. She invites us to prepare an asylum where the unhappy may find solace, and the persecuted repost.

“If we are not this day wanting in our duty, the names of the American Legislatures of 1776 will be placed by posterity at the side of all of those whose memory has been and ever will be dear to virtuous men and good citizens.”

Though the resolution was formally adopted July 4, it was not until July 8 that two of the states authorized their delegates to sign, and it was not until August 2 that the signers met at Philadelphia to actually put their names to the Declaration.

William Ellery, delegate from Rhode Island, was curious to see the signers’ faces as they committed this supreme act of personal courage. He saw some men sign quickly, “but in no face was he able to discern real fear.” Stephan Hopkins, Ellery’s colleague from Rhode Island, was a man past 60. As he signed with a shaking pen, he declared: “My hand trembles, but my heart does not.”

Even before the list was published, the British marked down every member of Congress suspected of having put his name to treason. All of them became the objects of vicious manhunts. Some were taken. Some, like Jefferson, had narrow escapes. All who had property or families near British strongholds suffered.

• Francis Lewis, New York delegate saw his home plundered and his estates in what is now Harlem, completely destroyed by British Soldiers. Mrs. Lewis was captured and treated with great brutality. Though she was later exchanged for two British prisoners through the efforts of Congress, she died from the effects of her abuse.

• William Floyd, another New York delegate, was able to escape with his wife and children across Long Island Sound to Connecticut, where they lived as refugees without income for seven years. When they came home they found a devastated ruin.

• Philips Livingstone had all his great holdings in New York confiscated and his family driven out of their home. Livingstone died in 1778 still working in Congress for the cause.

• Louis Morris, the fourth New York delegate, saw all his timber, crops, and livestock taken. For seven years he was barred from his home and family.

• John Hart of Trenton, New Jersey, risked his life to return home to see his dying wife. Hessian soldiers rode after him, and he escaped in the woods. While his wife lay on her deathbed, the soldiers ruined his farm and wrecked his homestead. Hart, 65, slept in caves and woods as he was hunted across the countryside. When at long last, emaciated by hardship, he was able to sneak home, he found his wife had already been buried, and his 13 children taken away. He never saw them again. He died a broken man in 1779, without ever finding his family.

• Dr. John Witherspoon, signer, was president of the College of New Jersey, later called Princeton. The British occupied the town of Princeton, and billeted troops in the college. They trampled and burned the finest college library in the country.

• Judge Richard Stockton, another New Jersey delegate signer, had rushed back to his estate in an effort to evacuate his wife and children. The family found refuge with friends, but a Tory sympathizer betrayed them. Judge Stockton was pulled from bed in the night and brutally beaten by the arresting soldiers. Thrown into a common jail, he was deliberately starved. Congress finally arranged for Stockton’s parole, but his health was ruined. The judge was released as an invalid, when he could no longer harm the British cause. He returned home to find his estate looted and did not live to see the triumph of the revolution. His family was forced to live off charity.

• Robert Morris, merchant prince of Philadelphia, delegate and signer, met Washington’s appeals and pleas for money year after year. He made and raised arms and provisions which made it possible for Washington to cross the Delaware at Trenton. In the process he lost 150 ships at sea, bleeding his own fortune and credit almost dry.

• George Clymer, Pennsylvania signer, escaped with his family from their home, but their property was completely destroyed by the British in the Germantown and Brandywine campaigns.

• Dr. Benjamin Rush, also from Pennsylvania, was forced to flee to Maryland. As a heroic surgeon with the army, Rush had several narrow escapes.

• John Martin, a Tory in his views previous to the debate, lived in a strongly loyalist area of Pennsylvania. When he came out for independence, most of his neighbors and even some of his relatives ostracized him. He was a sensitive and troubled man, and many believed this action killed him. When he died in 1777, his last words to his tormentors were: “Tell them that they will live to see the hour when they shall acknowledge it [the signing] to have been the most glorious service that I have ever rendered to my country.”

• William Ellery, Rhode Island delegate, saw his property and home burned to the ground.

• Thomas Lynch, Jr., South Carolina delegate, had his health broken from privation and exposures while serving as a company commander in the military. His doctors ordered him to seek a cure in the West Indies and on the voyage he and his young bride were drowned at sea.

• Edward Rutledge, Arthur Middleton, and Thomas Heyward, Jr., the other three South Carolina signers, were taken by the British in the siege of Charleston. They were carried as prisoners of war to St. Augustine, Florida, where they were singled out for indignities. They were exchanged at the end of the war, the British in the meantime having completely devastated their large landholdings and estates.

• Thomas Nelson, signer of Virginia, was at the front in command of the Virginia military forces. With British General Charles Cornwallis in Yorktown, fire from 70 heavy American guns began to destroy Yorktown piece by piece. Lord Cornwallis and his staff moved their headquarters into Nelson’s palatial home. While American cannonballs were making a shambles of the town, the house of Governor Nelson remained untouched. Nelson turned in rage to the American gunners and asked, “Why do you spare my home?” They replied, “Sir, out of respect to you.” Nelson cried, “Give me the cannon!” and fired on his magnificent home himself, smashing it to bits. But Nelson’s sacrifice was not quite over. He had raised $2 million for the Revolutionary cause by pledging his own estates. When the loans came due, a newer peacetime Congress refused to honor them, and Nelson’s property was forfeited. He was never reimbursed. He died, impoverished, a few years later at the age of 50.

Someone came up with the idea of changing a few words in the Declaration of Independence to see if it would fit the things going on today. Very few words were changed. I didn’t think to save the sight and can’t find it in searchers, so I went through and did what the other person did, and it fits today’s situations.

I sent the new “Declaration of Independence From King Obama” to King Obama and three of his court jesters who represent me in my state to the king. If anyone else wants to, feel free to declare your independence. His fax number is 202-456-2461. If you send it by USPS it will be routed through a place in Pennsylvania to check it for anthrax and other stuff before it is sent on to him.

You don’t have to read the whole Declaration. Just skim through and see how few words it took to fit today. They are in CAPITAL LETTERS and italicized. I wish I could give credit to the person who came up with this idea.

He has forbidden his Governors to pass Laws of immediate and pressing importance, unless suspended in their operation till his Assent should be obtained; and when so suspended, he has utterly neglected to attend to them.
He has refused to pass other Laws for the accommodation of large districts of people, unless those people would relinquish the right of Representation in the Legislature, a right inestimable to them and formidable to tyrants only.
He has called together legislative bodies at places unusual, uncomfortable, and distant from the depository of their public Records, for the sole purpose of fatiguing them into compliance with his measures.
He has dissolved Representative Houses repeatedly, for opposing with manly firmness his invasions on the rights of the people.

Randy, reading your commentary brought tears to my eyes; it is unconsciable that the Progressive Socialists want to belittle and demean the sacrifices of the founding fathers. I disagree with a lot of what Dr Savage says, but he is correct when he says Liberalism is a disease of the mind.

That area is the most beautiful in the world, enjoy a few cigars and the scenery.

I used to hunt very near the NW boundary of the park. Excellent elk and Grizzly country. If memory serves me correctly, I crossed the Wa[iti and the Red Deer and another more dangerious river to get into that area.

When you are there, look to the NW and imagine riding two days into the mountains and you would be in my old stomping grounds. The trout fishing around Calgary is the best in the world, one fish can feed four men.

You deserve a holiday, I hope you have a damn good time.

I am reading and learning continuously on these subjects and intend to inundate the readership with facts and comparisons until Curt tells me to back off or until we give Obama the Bum’s rush out the back door of the WH In 2012. Don’t be bashful about making your own submissions, get a unique or original idea and develop it. If you get bucked off try asnother one, I’ve hit the ground so many times and looked up with blood and gravel in my mouth, one more time is nothing. This is a group effort and we don’t want to stop until an American would consider it a disgrace to ever admit having voted as a Progressive Socialist.

I didn’t think about that my first time up there and was using the big numbers. I was told they don’t give a person a break for their first time there.

Brother, you misunderstand me. I don’t have interest in the socialists themselves. I have interest in using the forums you present to us to explain to the liberal/progressive crowd here just why they are wrong.

A little over a year ago I happened to pick up and read a book that I had been hearing about for a while. In it, I witnessed someone’s writing that, even given the 50+ year difference from when it was published until today, was so prescient about socialist ideals encroaching upon freedom, and the uncanny similarities between today’s headlines and events described in the book, that I now consider it one of the greatest book’s ever written, if not the greatest.

My own thoughts used to be a jumbled mess, as far as freedom and liberty goes, that I could scarcely make a point to anyone that had clarity and conciseness to it. Since the book, my eyes have been opened to the simplicity of it all, including life in general.

Socialists, marxists, or any other strain of collectivism one can think of, do not, can not, and will not, ever, be on the side of individual freedom and liberty. And any opinions to the contrary, especially Greg’s in his assertion that collectives are inherently part of a ‘perfect’ society, are nothing more than blather and wishful thinking for some dream world in which everyone acts in the best interest of others. I cannot, and will not accept that premise.

As the author herself stated, through a character in her book, I swear, by my life and my love of it, that I will never live for the sake of another man, nor ask another man to live for mine.

Ok JohnG, don’t hold us in suspenders: what is the name of the book? I [promise to share all the titles worth reading with my cyber friends here on the forum, but I need this book you mentioned. I am using a computer here at the ranch that is so old the keys no longer have any letters printed on them, we should all learn on these ‘blind’ keys.

The way I see things, every Marxist leader is an Elite that puts everything back into a feudal situation, while he lives the ‘Life’ and everyone else lives in the outhouse hole. It never fails, these guys who want to be Elites, are arrogant bastards that see the rest of us as slaves who exist solely for them to rule over us.

I think OT and Bees will be about 3500 miles apart in Canada, just a little closer than Western MT.

OT, if you drive up there, there is an excellent WW2 airplane museum in Nanton. Well worth the visit. One of my relatives was shot down three times flying a Lancaster they have one on display and you can go up in the plane. Kinda of weird to think of the flack and cannon fire ripping through that aluminum. They flew home when they didn’t have enough airplane to stay aloft. Those old pilots spoke reverently of the Lancaster. The Patricia Rifles also have an excellent museum that is well done and chronicles their service from the Boer War to the present.

I know you have seen enough of war, but it is important for people to be aware of the contributions of such a small population and of their allied help during some major conflicts. You could say their contribution is proportionately way beyond the population size.

I’ll be anxious to hear of your impressions of Lake Louise.

Tooth, I read Rand in college and should read her again; however, i am the type of reader who goes into a trance like state with that kind of book and doesn’t eat or sleep until I am done. I will find the time to reread those books and take the wrath of girl friend and relatives; you see they expect me to communicate when I am reading a good book. Not really sporting of them. The reason the 5 signers of the Declaration was not hung was due to various reasons… If I recall, 3 were freed in a trade of officer prisoners of war and the other two (mainly the one caught by American Tories) were to face the gallows but local and Impieral officals stepped in and deemed it too critical to do so as such an act would make each man a Martyr during the time of war which in turn would have embolden the local populace and turn many Loyalists to the side of the rebels by such acts of ruthlessness. However, if the British Empire had won the war all signers of the Declaration would be sought after ruthlessly and either killed in secercy or suddenly “disappear” in a horrible shipping accident while enroute to face trial in the mainland.
