“Hey Barack, you uh….you want me to take her for a ride? We can end this thing in no time. I’m told she can’t swim.”

Psst Barack, if there are ash trays around, you might want to wear a helmet.

I couldn’t make up my mind what was more embarrassing, Clinton’s stoical indifference to even being there, OR Pelosi having to look over to the Dem side of the isle to figure out if her puppet strings required her to rise.

One thing did stand out on this night that will be “etched in stone”—– Every time Bush mentioned no new taxes or making his tax cuts permanent, not one Democrat stood to advocate these policies. The photo of every Dhimmi sitting should be posted to every conservative website with an appropriate title thru-out the general election.

If the Democrats intend to make the status of the economy their #1 issue, then lets make sure that the electorate understands where they stand when it comes to our pocket books.

Every single issue-EVERY SINGLE ISSUE that the Democrats have ranted and raved against as a means to getting power and taking Congress and/or the WH in 08…has been sheer hypocrisy. There isn’t a single issue in which they’ve demonstrated resolve, commitment, or effectiveness. T

FISA, Iraq, torture, Gitmo, taxes, corruption, earmarks, healthcare reform, social security reform, tax reform (including Bush tax cuts), immigration, homeland security, election reform…

On every single issue, the Democratic Party has ranted and raved and then done nothing. Senators/wannabe Presidents have complained, promised, and either done nothing or supported Republican efforts.

Put simply, the DNC rhetoric is rhetoric. Republicans failed, and were ousted in 2006. Democrats haven’t even tried, and I don’t care what Vegas odds are (see also their predictions about Iowa, NH, and SC primaries as well as the 2004 election and 2006 control for Senate). No, this fall, Republican candidates will have it easy unless something changes fast for the dems. They cannot run as the oppressed minority party when they control both houses, and arguing that they need absolute, unchecked/unbalanced power by controlling all three branches of govt is contrary to the ideals they allegedly advocate. What’s even more amazing is that with the increasing number of Democrats questioning the Clinton’s integrity, all of a sudden that which was once holy and sacred (the idea that everything was hunky dory in the 90’s and Bill Clinton was just the victim of a vast right wing conspiracy) is now fading fast. No, the most die-hard extremists and partisan blinded will never accept responsibility for the Clinton Admin failures and shortcomings, but the time for BDS and distracting debate focus on a lame duck President is gone. Those leftist lemmings might not realize it yet, but the Democratic Party has power, and with power comes responsibility; the responsibility to actually do things instead of whine, complain, and point fingers to distract away from that responsibility. Republicans learned the power/responsibility/accountability lesson two years ago. They learned that you can’t just be against things. You have to be for them, and you have to produce…or the American people-especially the ones who don’t follow politics normally-just don’t care about nuance. They vote on whether or not something got done.

When a Senator says she should be elected President because she has a healthcare plan….why doesn’t someone ask her why she hasn’t presented it as a bill?

When a Senator says he should be elected President because he’ll bring a new bi-partisan tone to DC, it might be good to ask him why he hasn’t done it already?

Put up, or shut up will be the message this year
get it done or get out will be the message this fall

Rovin: Two problems with your suggestion to remind voters that Dems want to raise taxes;

1. The top 50% of taxpayers pay 97% of the income tax. The 50% who pay 3% of income taxes are mostly Democrats. They don’t care if Dems stick it to the rich. They depend on that rape of the Golden Goose for their goodies.

2. Running on that issue will be a weak point if the nominee of the party is known more for his compromises with Democrats and his opposition to tax cuts.

From last night:

“We have other work to do on taxes. Unless the Congress acts, most of the tax relief we have delivered over the past 7 years will be taken away. Some in Washington argue that letting tax relief expire is not a tax increase. Try explaining that to 116 million American taxpayers who would see their taxes rise by an average of $1,800. Others have said they would personally be happy to pay higher taxes. I welcome their enthusiasm, and I am pleased to report that the IRS accepts both checks and money orders.”

Mike,

While your point has a basis for a good argument, I think you are looking at this from the democrats perspective——where I am advocating this to shore up the Republican base, which IMHO, is hardly “weak” the way Bush framed this policy with his above statement.

Working Americans have had it so good the past seven years the fact they will get an $1800 per year tax increase under any of the democrats flew right over their heads. They will wake up as the burglars goes out the window with their money, too late since they have allowed the same dhimmi’s to disarm them.

TIMELINE anyone?
exactly when will Americans notice; early2009, early 2010, early 2011, early 2012?

P.S. I love the picture Mike. Kennedy’s tellin’ Obama he’s pissed because he heard the reason Bill’s not here with his wife is that Bill had a better offer. (something about cigars and Chivas)

Rovin: I think Bush did a fine job of framing the arguement in the short run. And I love the line you cited. It’s about time someone said that.

But unfortunately, the issue of taxes and tax cuts will be front and center in the presidential campaign and Bush will be watching it from the sidelines.

Will McCain suddenly discover the wisdom of tax cuts or will he continue to claim that the spending controls which have previously FAILED so miserably should be the focus?

When the tax cuts were proposed originally by the Bush Administration, the calculations of how must revenue would be lost to the federal government (part of the selling points) fully assumed the tax cuts would expire as scheduled.

Exactly where do Conservatives expect the revenue that is not being collected will come from to pay for the govenment they want?

I do not WANT that government Steve, nor do conservatives.. WE DEMAND less government and less taxes.

But your fanatical religious hatred for conservatives and projectionism will not let you see that.
