Researcher On Climate Warming: “Ideological Science At Its Best” With “Cult-Like Status”

Canadian philosophical researcher Shawn Alli has posted a highly critical series titled: The CO2 Climate Change Cult Series.

Though he does not appear to be some famous academic professor, his series does poignantly bring up a number of inconvenient points that have leading climate scientists confounded.

Ideologies underpinning IPCC science

Alli sent me an e-mail asking if I’d look over Chapter 7 and 8, which I did. Today’s post focusses on Chapter 7, which starts off powerfully:

Many objective and impartial scientists believe that they have no ideologies and never work to prove what they want to prove. This is a nonsensical belief. Under the ideologies of racism and eugenics, Western-European scientists in the past intentionally prove what they want to prove. The same concept is true in the present. The ideologies of man-made CO2 climate change are underpinning the science behind the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC). One example of this ideological science is the IPCC’s claim of the Himalayan glaciers disappearing in 2035. [1] It’s only because of climate skeptics and deniers that the IPCC retracts their nonsensical claim three years later. [2] But despite the admission of error the Chair of the IPCC Dr. Rajendra Pachauri refuses to apologize. [3] The fact that the public outrage surprises him and damages the IPCC’s credibility, [4]demonstrates that the IPCC is 100% out of touch with the global general public about climate change.

The reason why the error is such a large problem is because of two reasons: science and socio-economic-political implications. The CO2 cult holds the IPCC to the level of god-like status, forever defending their cause. This pushes CO2 cult believers to claim that the IPCC reports are the highest form of climate knowledge on the planet.”

If you don’t believe that leading climate journalists have been taken over by the cult, Alli presents a number of quotes from the Guardian’s George Monbiot, and from the Newsweek staff, who maintain that the science is rigorous like no other, and thus beyond dispute.

Hockey stick: Distortion of reality…”junk environmental ideological science at its best”

Alli also thinks Michael Mann’s hockey stick chart, in its attempt to remove the Medieval Warm Period, was “intentionally manipulating the global general public and distorting reality.” He adds:

But even if you dismiss the hockey stick graph argument and the fraudulent data from climate scientists, you have to face the reality that global warming ends in 1998. After years of voracious denials […] the IPCC finally admits the stall of global temperatures in kind terms in Working Group 1 of their fifth assessment.”

On the claim by the IPCC that man caused the warming from 1800 to 1998 and that the recent pause is due to natural variability, Alli calls this selective logic: “junk environmental ideological science at its best.”

Always a breath of fresh air to find a fellow AGW “denier” speaking truth to powerlessness. My own fave cultist quotation is this from Stephen Schneider first published 1988:

On the one hand, as scientists we are ethically bound to the scientific method. On the other hand, we are not just scientists but human beings as well. To do that we need to get some broad based support, to capture the public’s imagination. That, of course, means getting loads of media coverage. So we have to offer up scary scenarios, make simplified, dramatic statements, and make little mention of any doubts we might have. Each of us has to decide what the right balance is between being effective and being honest.

Top Meteorologist: Climate Change ‘Nothing but a Lie’

John Coleman, who co-founded the Weather Channel in 1980, says that the theories of man-made climate change are no longer credible in light of the so-called hiatus in rising temperatures, not to mention that “polar ice is increasing, not melting away.” Coleman adds, “Polar Bears are increasing in number.”

“Heat waves have actually diminished, not increased. There is not an uptick in the number or strength of storms (in fact storms are diminishing),” Coleman recently said.

“I have studied this topic seriously for years. It has become a political and environment agenda item, but the science is not valid,” he declared.

Coleman insists that there is no credible evidence of man-made warming, nor has there ever been. He also says that the theory that carbon dioxide is a pollutant has not been substantiated scientifically.

“There has been no warming over 18 years,” Coleman said.

Coleman said he bases his conclusions on the very Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change reports that climate change believers say proves their case.

Global-warming ‘proof’ is evaporating

Back in 2005 I and others reviewed the entire hurricane record, which goes back over a century, and found no increase of any kind. Yes, we sometimes get bad storms — but no more frequently now than in the past. The advocates simply ignored that evidence — then repeated their false claims after Hurricane Sandy last year.

And the media play along. For example, it somehow wasn’t front-page news that committed believers in man-made global warming recently admitted there’s been no surface global warming for well over a decade and maybe none for decades more. Nor did we see warmists conceding that their explanation is essentially a confession that the previous warming may not have been man-made at all.

That admission came in a new paper by prominent warmists in the peer-reviewed journal Climate Dynamics. They not only conceded that average global surface temperatures stopped warming a full 15 years ago, but that this “pause” could extend into the 2030s.

Mind you, the term “pause” is misleading in the extreme: Unless and until it resumes again, it’s just a “stop.” You don’t say a bullet-ridden body “paused” breathing.

Dr. Roy Spencer: Science Knows ‘Almost Nothing’ About Global Warming

Spencer then went on to illustrate how easy it is to make assumptions based on “data” by showing a graph on the screen that showed how the rise in UFO sightings coincided with the rise in ocean temperatures and joked that maybe aliens are causing global warming.

It was a joke that Heartland chief Joe Bast later thanked Spencer for because those that want to ridicule the conference will now say that climate deniers blame global warming on aliens from outer space.

The UFO joke graph was the first of a series of more serious graphs that Spencer presented to show that much of the alarmist rhetoric over global warming is not supported by facts.

For instance, after the humorous graph, Spencer showed one that revealed that nearly every century since Roman times has experienced either global warming or global cooling proving that the “norm” is wild change and not some grand mean leveling. The graph also shows that the Roman and Medieval warm periods were just as warm as today’s temps.

Climate expert William Happer, from Princeton University, supported Mr Coleman’s claims.

He added: “No chemical compound in the atmosphere has a worse reputation than CO2, thanks to the single-minded demonisation of this natural and essential atmospheric gas by advocates of government control and energy production.

“The incredible list of supposed horrors that increasing carbon dioxide will bring the world is pure belief disguised as science.”

In 2010 a high-level inquiry by the InterAcademy Council found there was “little evidence” to support the IPCC’s claims about global warming.

“I resent you calling me a denier, that is a word meant to put me down. I’m a skeptic about climate change, not a denier.”

“CNN has taken a very strong position on global warming that it is a consensus. Well there is no consensus in science. Science isn’t a vote. Science is about facts. It has been become a big political point of the Democratic Party and part of their platform, but the science is on my side.” he continued, “But I’m happy that I got on the air and got a chance to talk to your viewers. Hello, everybody! There is no global warming!”

Coleman added he was “terribly disappointed,” that Weather Channel was pushing climate change saying, “The Weather Channel has bought into it, but so has all the media. That’s no big surprise. I created a channel to give people their weather, tell them what the weather is now and what it’s going to be, to serve a real purpose. And that channel has become totally distorted.”
