Will Obama’s Benghazi Cover-Up Succeed?

John Hinderaker @ Powerline:

Barack Obama’s prospects for re-election have been fading for some time now. As Mitt Romney surges, Obama flails, embarrassing himself with silly trivialities that are often summed up as Big Bird, binders and bayonets. That’s what happens when your record is so bad that you can’t talk about it; not truthfully, anyway. So it has been clear for a while that Obama’s re-election hopes can’t absorb another blow. Which the Benghazi story, to the extent the facts get out, surely is.

That is why Obama made a decision early on to stop referring to the Benghazi debacle as a successful terrorist attack. Acknowledging what really happened would have utterly destroyed one of Obama’s main campaign themes, that through his own personal heroism he had al Qaeda on the run. Instead, Obama chose to pretend that Benghazi was an unfortunate but essentially meaningless mob uprising, prompted by a YouTube video. So we got the nauseating spectacle of Hillary Clinton hugging the father of one of the murdered SEALS and assuring him not to worry, the Obama administration would prosecute the guy who made the video to the fullest extent of the law.

But, with a little over a week to go until the election, the lid was blown off the administration’s cover-up by Fox’s story yesterday, alleging that the administration turned down repeated pleas for help over the course of the seven-hour Benghazi battle, and by the white-hot anger of Charles Woods, who has repeatedly called Barack Obama and his White House “cowards” for failing to come to his son’s aid.

If the allegations of Fox’s story prove to be true–still an open question at this point–and if voters know about them, Obama has no chance on November 6. So how will the media formerly known as mainstream, which have done their best to try to drag Obama’s sorry campaign across the finish line, deal with the Benghazi story?

The New York Times, for one, has dealt with it by not mentioning the current allegations. This is what you get if you search the Times site for “Benghazi:”

Where’s the tea party on this one? Where’s the moral majority?

@AdrianS – Exactly what do you want the Tea Party to do ?

There is no cover-up. There are people building scenarios on politically motivated speculation and rumor, media outlets reporting it as if it were all true, and people shouting cover-up because the supporting evidence is missing.

Horrific…mind numbing…

Four [4] AMERICANS are DEAD our GOVERNMENT at the Highest Ranks did nothing to help them….
….then proceeds to blames it on a video?!? A video??? On September 11, 2012 [a video] ? How preposterous does that [LIE] sound???

Want more mind numbing? – Any one of those four AMERICANS could have been any one of us.

This is just so bad on so many levels….

Even if obama steals this election; this cover-up will not suceed; he will be impeached.

Too many are in the know (military, CIA among others) for them to remain quiet; hopefully the conservatives will raise the stink obama and his criminal, treasenous crew have brought upon the USA. Besides, we have jihadists within the highests offices of government, brought in by obama, holder, hillary, jarrett and brennan.

@Greg:

There is no cover-up.

That is hilarious, Greg. You can sit there and deny the allegations, claiming they have no standing or whatever, and then turn right around and claim, definitively, that there is NO coverup.

How do you know, Greg?

The fact is, you don’t. Just like you claim that those promoting the allegations of incompetency, misconduct, and coverup, don’t know.

You have turned far, far away from being an objective observer and poster of politics, to someone who is entirely “in the tank” for Obama and no amount of negativity, earned or not, will deter you from your mission of protecting and defending Obama at all costs.

You have become a caricature of that which you accuse people on the right, such as Issa, as being, but from the opposite end of the political spectrum.

all the nasty surprises coming for OBAMA, IN TIME,and it’s building up
every day bigger like a breeding ugly being growing up and circling the whole world,
which also think of a scenario from the question those hero died but leaving the question alive to all
to elucidate, and bring justice to them who fought for hours thinking the help was coming
any days, any hours, any minutes, any seconds, too late for them, but as a revenge to justify their valiant battle with the haters who hate OBAMA, burned his image, but it was not enough,
they needed to kill those representing OBAMA, LIKE A REVENGE THEY WHERE SEEKING,
FOR THEIR OWN CAUSE,

@Greg:
I know you don’t like Fox, but none of the other Sunday talk shows asked any tough questions. Chris Wallace had Udall and Warner on, both members of the Senate Intelligence Committee. Neither would say whether or not the drones over Benghazi were armed.
My one beef with Fox on this is neither of the republican senators were on the intelligence committee. They should have had McCain or another republican member of the intelligence committee on and asked them the same question.
I truly hope that the drones were not armed. I truly hope Spooky was not on station or not available to be on station. I cannot imagine being the drone pilot or a member of the Spooky crew and being told not to engage. My brother was on station in Somalia when the Blackhawk went down. His plane was unarmed, they were just providing intelligence. To this day, that is the worst experience of his life; hearing calls for help and not being able to do anything. Imagine if he could have done something and was told not to.

Stand down! Valerie wants to know if the Muslims are ok!
