People here were more optimistic than the facts on the ground should have led them to be, to be honest.
I remember debates about whether the Muslim Brotherhood and other Islamists could really take over the democratic movement that had started.
In this last month we are seeing an exodus of all and any Christians who CAN get out of Egypt.
To be sure, some are too poor or too old to go.
And they will either convert to Islam or be killed like is happening all over Egypt right now.
Ancient churches are being destroyed all over Egypt.
The one Coptic gov. had to quit after Muslim riots.
Homes of Coptics are being destroyed every day.
This ”democracy” will be, as I suggested: one man, one vote, one time.
Then the Islamic kleptocracy will replace the old Mubarak kleptocracy.
Big whoop!
Live in Israel for a year, if you dare. Live in Syria, for a year..I can tell you that what you see on western new; abc, cbs, nbc and msn are complete crap. Fox is just a little better, Better yet, learn Arabic. Half the translation on the news is wrong. Go to China and see if there is any news of America.. I article in the new paper/week if that. OH! Smile America, I forgot you only speak one language…Most of use speak 4, Arabic, Russian, and Mandarin, plus a little Hebrew..

Not me, Nan. I have believed from the outset that Egyptians would maintain a democracy long enough to vote fundamentalists into power.
