During the impeachment trial of Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton, former employees admitted that they reported Paxton to the FBI without any evidence and had no reason not to trust federal agents.
Ryan Vassar, a former deputy attorney general under Paxton, testified over the course of two days regarding his decision to report the AG to the FBI. He claimed that he and seven other so-called whistleblowers had a “good faith belief” that Paxton had committed criminal actions.
This meeting with the FBI in the Fall of 2020 eventually led to the majority of the impeachment articles, alleging that Paxton misused his office to benefit a specific individual who had, several years earlier, donated to one of Paxton’s campaigns.
During the cross-examination by Mitch Little, an attorney for Paxton, Vassar made the shocking revelation that he and the other employees had gone to the FBI without a shred of evidence.
“Mr. Vassar, please, I want to get this straight — you went to the FBI on September 30 with your compatriots, and reported the elected attorney general of this state for a crime without any evidence?” Little asked. “Yes?”
“That’s right,” Vassar admitted. “We took no evidence.”
He attempted to clarify, saying, “We had no evidence that we could point to, but we had reasonable conclusions we could draw.”
Little then asked if, after going to the FBI without any evidence, they later collected evidence that would corroborate their claims to the FBI.
“I don’t recall that we collected any evidence,” Vassar added, again retorting that he and his allies had gone to report a “good faith belief” of criminal activity.
Little retorted, “Respectfully sir, we are not here for your good faith belief.”
Attorney General Paxton, like many other notable conservatives in America, has been the subject of potential weaponization of the federal government — an institution he has successfully sued many times.
Even right now, as the impeachment trial continues, former President Donald Trump — who is by far the favorite for the GOP nomination — is currently being targeted by the apparatus of the federal government.
The weaponization of the FBI has had such an effect on the American public that 70 percent of people are concerned “about interference by the FBI and intelligence agencies in a future presidential election,” according to a Harvard-Harris poll earlier this year.
Nevertheless, Ryan Vassar had no mistrust of the FBI or the federal government at all.
“Do you trust the Feds? Do you trust the FBI?” Little asked during the cross-examination.
“Yes, I have no reason not to, I trust law enforcement and our peace officers,” the so-called whistleblower admitted.
“You can’t think of one reason in the last three or four years not to trust the FBI?” Little pressed.
Aside from the instinctive feeling that the accusations brought against Paxton is more about him being Republican than any criminal activity, I have kept myself silent on the impeachment. I haven’t followed the story and don’t feel like researching it (again, most likely it is 100% politically motivated and if it is proven he is criminal, so be it). But, unsurprisingly, we now learn there was no evidence and, as usual, the FBI/GESTAPO needed no evidence to pursue a prominent and troublesome Republican.
So, let’s put this in the blatantly obvious perspective. With no actual evidence, investigations which lead directly to impeachment is levied against Paxton. Meanwhile, a laptop LOADED with incriminating evidence against Hunter and idiot Biden sits in the FBI’s lap and their reaction is, first, to hide it, next, when exposed, to declare it is Russian disinformation and then, finally, to just look the other way and stonewall any investigation that may require their input. That is the stark difference between how a Republican and Democrat is treated by the weaponized DOJ and FBI.
It’s not because Ken is a Republican. It’s because he is NOT an establishment Republican but a Constitutional conservative Republican. And he is being persecuted because he demaned Dade Phelan’s resignation after Phelan showed up on the House podium drunk on his ass to the point Phelan couldn’t ever speak clearly. Low and behold, Paxton was impeached just days after that.
The House may be a Republican majority, but a sizable number of the Republican House members run as Republican simply because they know they couldn’t win if they were honest and ran as Democrats.
They want Paxton gone for two reasons: first, he has a good sucess rate in suing Biden and second, he pissed off the establishment Bushites. Karl Rove will be one of the witnesses against Paxton. That should tell you all you need to know.
Lawfare is being used against Trump. Now add Ken Paxton to the Lawfare/The 65 Project list.
The main force going after Paxton is/are “Bush Republicans”! Dems are just “along for the ride”!
Democrats can have them.
Claiming criminal indictment is political persecution has become the standard defense of criminal politicians. Of course they want to discredit the criminal justice system.
This is the bush/rove junta in Texas trying to remove a duly elected AG with zero evidence. Lt governor Dan Patrick has the power presiding over the trial to end this immediately.
An admission of no evidence is customary in third world banana republics. This is part and parcel of all of the indictments currently against Trump.
The left cannot defeat Trump in a fair and fraud free election and they know it. We must ask ourselves, why can we not elect the person we the people want as President?
Precisely right!
Biden may appease the Eco-Freaks with his cutting off the ANWR but he is just about going to Crash and Burn with his act of Treason against the American People
With no evidence Paxton cannot be convicted of committing any criminal act.
Much like President Trump. He was not convicted of rape because there was no evidence of rape. He was found not guilty ergo he is not a rapist.
Coincidental that Vassar is a “Bush Republican”? I THINK NOT!
The prosecutions case has completely failed. The so called evidence does not exist. AG Paxton should be acquitted immediately.
AG Paxton will be exonerated, but who bears the burden for the cost of the charade?
The RINO’s and Democrats have gotten away with “punishing” people for going against them by bringing false charges, and forcing them to hire attorney’s and in some cases it ruins people financially and emotionally.
The justice system is being abused. Those who have abused that systems need to be punished! The list is long and notorious, bragg, james, smith and fulton. Those of us in the MAGA camp are being victimized.
That’s all justice, laws, rules and the Constitution (state or federal) means to these people. They either abuse them as weapons or hide behind them, but they never respect them.
greg is going to be so butthurt.
so greg, you were so sure he was guilty and poof there was no evidence just like with President Trump.
You are one dumbass motherf*cker
So, lawfare CAN be defeated.
In this case yes and it will as well with President Trump.
He IS guilty, yo-yo. Testimony clearly established that. Trump’s little buddy was acquitted by GOP politicians, just like Trump was acquitted. Like Trump, he’s now strutting around as if his sainthood has been officially proclaimed. His criminal trial for securities remains on hold after 7 years, because republicans have made a crook Texas’s Attorney General.

Bullshit. Corporate investors, greed, and unsustainably low interest rates that triggered runaway inflation that resulted destroyed the housing market. Trump pressured the Fed to keep the prime rate near zero for three years after stimulus measures became unnecessary, while simultaneously slashing high-end taxes so his own sort could rob the country blind.

Any other criminal defendant who said such a thing would be hit with a gag order IMMEDIATELY.
Mini-Me Paxton today, parroting Trump’s bullshit:
