Leftwing racists are attacking Johns Hopkins University physician Ben Carson, who delivered a crowd-pleasing speech Saturday at the Conservative Political Action Conference.
The indispensable Twitchy Team collects many jaw-dropping assaults on Carson as a thinker, a professional, a leader, an American, and a human being.
Carson is an “Uncle Tom,” tweets self-described comedian Laura Levites.
“I’d like to thank brother Malcolm X for explaining the House Negro and Field Negro,” adds “Unabashed class clown” WiseGuy Eddie, who promises to “make you laugh” in his Twitter profile. “Ben Carson is the former. #CPAC2014″
CEO Elon James White tweets that Carson, whose record in the field of neurosurgery has won plaudits from far beyond the narrow world of politics, defies “science, history, common sense too.”
“They like a black man telling them it’s okay to discriminate and hate political correctness,” feminist funmaker Kaili Joy Gray deduces.
Other epithets hurled by progressive bigots: “lunatic,” “clown,” “house negro” and beneficiary of the “soft bigotry of low expectations” — this last a sophistical phrase baritone Michael Ditto expropriates from former President George W. Bush.
The high toxicity of progressive venom may be partly explained by Carson’s personal history. Though few Americans may have been aware of Carson prior to his breakthrough speech in the presence of President Obama at a 2013 prayer breakfast, fewer still thought of him as a political player in any regard.

Carson was known him mainly through his books, which straddled the inspirational, popular medical and self-help genres, and which included titles such as The Big Picture: Getting Perspective on What’s Really Important in Life; Gifted Hands: The Ben Carson Story; and America the Beautiful: Rediscovering What Made This Country Great. Amazon groups Carson’s Take the Risk: Learning to Identify, Choose, and Live with Acceptable Risk among its “Applied Psychology” titles.

Republicans welcome black Americans like Dr. Ben Carson, a man who did build it himself through his own hard work and intelligence, others like Michael Steele, Shelby Steel, Thomas Sowell, Larry Elder, Walter Williams, Clarence Thomas, who also built it themselves through their hard work and intellect. Democrats use blacks like Al Sharpton, Jesse Jackson, Emanuel Cleaver, James Cyburn, Sheila Jackson Lee, Maxine Waters, many who are dumber than a brick and simply got where they are by hanging on to Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr’s coat tails.
If ever you want a perfect example of how Democrats are willing to co-opt, and claim as their own, credit that does not belong to them, it would be the Civil Rights movement. Instead, they will create the worst schools in the nation in the black majority inner cities and put their biggest abortion clinics in neighborhoods that are predominantly black (all in honor of Margaret Sanger who was one of our nation’s biggest racists).
Keep blacks uneducated and keep their numbers down. Honesty demands that Democrats admit that is part of their platform.

I always enjoy Dr. Carson’s viewpoint.
Now why would any self-respecting gay individual object to being categorized in this way?
Dr. Carson apologized for that statement, made on FOX’s Sean Hannity program last March. But now here he is, one year later, characterizing the objections that led to that apology as an effort by the left to “shut him up.”
I’m not sure persecution is an entirely accurate description of the criticism that has sometimes been directed at him. Dr. Carson a very smart man. He surely understands how the words he speaks will be taken. He surely grasps what is implied when gay people are grouped together with pedophiles and people who have sexual relations with animals. This goes a bit further than a disregard for political correctness.

No group—be they Tea Partiers, be they Nazis, or be they the pro-life assassins of women’s health care providers, have any right denying women access to a full range of reproductive health care services.
Would you not strongly object to this, and condemn any public figure who made such a statement on a nationally viewed cable news station? It’s because a category has been implied, and a similarity between all named things in it has been suggested.

“Reproductive health care services” does, in fact, cover a range of services provided to women that extend beyond abortion. It would include sex education, family planning counseling, birth control, and addressing health problems such as sexually transmitted diseases. All of which people such as yourself have repeatedly attempted to defund.
@Greg: #8 While I disagree emphatically that any woman is denied “reproductive health care services” (I think that means something other than reproduction), I don’t have a real problem with the accumulation of the groups since they are not associated to one another other than, per the author, that they all oppose something. Of course, if I was in the business of taking offfense at every possible and imagined offense, I would say “you are calling Tea Partiers Nazis” (which you probably are, under your breath) just as you are implying at Carson “you are saying gays are animal sodomists”. Some may indeed be, but that is not what the statement said or even implied.
What he says is marriage is between a man and a woman and no one, regardless of their interests, get to redefine that which has been for thousands of years, just because they want to make their values the same as everyone else’s. Nothing else. And, what’s more, he is absolutely right. And, what’s even MORE, it is exactly what Mr. Obama was saying before his popularity began tanking and he actually needed the gay vote.
@Greg: #12 I believe you are doing the categorizing. Again, the statement makes the point emphatically by listing groups that are differing and divergent. What sense would it make to list groups who all, naturally, would agree with one another? The point is made that even divergent groups with divergent interests have no right to redefine marriage. In other words, no one else.
So, why don’t you just come out and call Dr. Carson “Uncle Tom” or “house n****r” as punishment for not joining liberal blacks who enjoy being used as props by Democrats. You know you want to. Blacks aren’t supposed to be allowed to speak their minds based on their life experiences. They are allowed only one viewpoint and all those who don’t are just “Oreos”. Those who break the rules get the racist treatment.

I suspect that Dr. Carson’s choice of examples signifies more than you want to believe it does. The context was an exchange regarding issue of gay marriage. Pedophilia and bestiality have nothing whatsoever to do with that topic. The only thing that his three examples have in common is that they relate to sexual activities—two of a sort that nearly everyone believes are totally reprehensible perversions, and one that relates to the topic at hand.

The context may have been gays and marriage but the point he was trying to make was that no group who are in ”relationships” that do not involve a MAN and a WOMAN should be able to re-define marriage to include themselves by fiat.

@Greg: #15 It has been argued that once you redefine marriage as something different that a union between one man and one woman, there are no longer any boundaries, so he names quite a few sexual diversions from the norm, though not all. However, the error Dr. Carson made was that he should have included heterosexuals among those who are not allowed to redefine the already effectively defined since there are many of those who have such a low opinion and lack of respect for the institution that they simply don’t care what happens to it.
