Tony Lee:
On Sunday, Chris Wallace, the host of Fox News Sunday, said that Republicans in Washington were savaging Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) behind Cruz’s back before Cruz’s appearance on the program to discuss defunding Obamacare.
In an appearance on Washington D.C.’s Fox 5 to preview his Sunday show, Wallace said, “I will tell you I have never in my time in Washington seen a party so upset with one of its own members.”
He said he had been flooded with opposition research on Cruz–from Republicans. Later on Fox News Sunday, Wallace said these “top Republicans” gave him “unsolicited research and questions” to “hammer” Cruz.
“Since we announced that Ted Cruz was going to be on the show, I’ve been getting background research and questions going after Cruz not from Democrats but from other Republicans,” Wallace said on Fox 5. “They really feel he has put them in this corner that they can’t get out of gracefully and they’re not very happy with him.”
In an exclusive op-ed for Breitbart News on Saturday, former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, who has also been savaged by establishment Republicans, urged Cruz to stay strong in the face of inevitable attacks from fellow Republicans and suggested they compare “shiv marks” the next time they meet:
Those drunk on the water of the Potomac are fearful that their go-along-to-git-along politics will wind up costing them their tony positions in the halls of power. Steve King (R-NY) has been especially vitriolic toward Senator Cruz. As King has made his presidential aspirations no secret, is this the beginning of his attempt to destroy the junior senator from Texas and eliminate Cruz as a 2016 opponent?
Those like Mike Lee, Rand Paul and Ted Cruz, are making the old “guard” look like the weak-kneed surrender monkeys they are, and they don’t like it one bit.
The GOP is a statist party. Conservatives need to come to grips with this reality.
@StrangernFiction:
And the Democrats are worse. They actually admit to being Marxist progressives.
I am behind Cruz et al. The Republican party has turn into a bunch of no nuts losers. I hope Ted et al can survive. We don’t want or need Obamacare. Unlike Nancy P. I’ve read it and I don’t want it. My final thought is, if it is so good why aren’t all the gov’t employees on it no exceptions even BHO and wife.
Ted appears to be one of the true conservatives out there, and I say appears, because 12 years ago I probably would have said the same thing about John McCain and we all know how that has turned out.
The description of the GOP as a “Go Along to get Along” is exactly what the Republican party is these days.
The GOP leadership will put on a show and unfortunately too many GOP followers who don’t pay attention to what the heck is really going on will buy into it and at the end of the day will actually re-elect most of these idiots which is exactly what the idiots want to achieve.
I believe the nation as we know it is in a slow death spiral just like many countries in Europe. We are 20 years behind the curve but we will get there as a society because the numbers of those becoming dependent on government continues to grow each day.
A couple of weeks ago I was in northern Wisconsin on the HD for Tomahawk weekend and I stopped at a BBQ place up there that I visit every time we head north. I have gotten to know the owner and he makes some great BBQ but he has fallen victim to what I will call the “gov’t dole” in which it is more lucrative for people in the area to stay on assistance from the gov’t than it is to take an entry level position working at his restaurant. Like most businesses in the area he has a help wanted sign in his window but gets very few applicants and most of those who do “apply” really aren’t looking for work.
This problem will only get worse as time goes on and more people step back and say why should I work when others will do it for me. The young people in this country are the ones who are going to get boned exceptionally hard, most of them just don’t know it yet.
