Eric Owens:

In what can only be called a gracious historical act, a newsreel archive company called British Pathé has uploaded 85,000 historic films on YouTube—in high resolution, no less.

The collection spans from 1896 to 1976 and there’s obviously a lot of great stuff to comb through that ranges from politics to art to culture to sports.

One video that has caught The Daily Caller’s eye is the one below, in which American birth control activist Margaret Sanger (here called Margaret Slee, which was her second husband’s name) sternly demands that the women of the world have “no more babies.”

The snippet was filmed at the Dorchester Hotel in London. Sanger was the president of the America Planned Parenthood Federation at the time. That organization has since evolved into the Planned Parenthood Federation of America, a nonprofit organization that to this day advocates heavily for abortion.

Planned Parenthood has received massive amounts of funding from the U.S. government since 1970.

As the text below the YouTube clip explains, Sanger was specifically arguing that people in developing countries shouldn’t have babies until 1957.

It’s not unlike sociopath John Holdren’s ravings in Ecoscience.

Also of interest, is eugenicist Margaret Sanger’s interview with Michael Wallace, in which she discusses forcibly sterilizing “defectives.”

How progressive.

in which she discusses forcibly sterilizing “defectives.”

I wonder if she was forcibly sterilized. She was certainly defective.

From the linked article:

“As the text below the YouTube clip explains, Sanger was specifically arguing that people in developing countries shouldn’t have babies until 1957.”

Of course there were natural alternatives to Margaret Sanger’s approach: Unrestrained and supportable population growth in developing countries has been repeatedly diminished by war, pestilence, and mass starvation.

Her surroundings were certainly developed world.
Lovely furniture, wallpapered and paneled walls, civilized clean water in wine glasses, lovely imported coffee in tiny cups.
From that perch she could pontificate about how poor people ought to just quit having babies to compete with her for all these scarce resources.
Funny irony is that it was not the third world that bought her line.
It was the people of ethnic-European origins who are demographically suiciding themselves instead.
If Putin were stopped from annexing every Russian-speaking ethnic-European, Russia would be a non-Russian speaking country in a few years.
Other European countries are almost in as deep of death spirals: Greece, Spain, Poland, Germany all of them.
Even the USA is falling below replacement rate into negative numbers.

LOL

@Kraken: Well, if anyone should know a “defective”, it would certainly be a progressive.

@Greg: Greg, that’s funny!

natural alternatives to Margaret Sanger’s approach: Unrestrained and supportable population growth in developing countries has been repeatedly diminished by war, pestilence, and mass starvation.

Let me be sure I understand this: a ‘natural’ alternative is ‘war’, ‘pestilence,’ and ‘mass starvation’. Well, so ‘natural’ is better?

@Redteam:

I think Greg is saying that he prefers eugenicist solutions to organic ones.

@Kraken: I’m sure. I think it’s strange for anyone to think of ‘war’ as ‘natural’. I would think of a seed falling to the ground, it sprouting into a tree and dying from old age as ‘natural’. If someone came along and cut the tree down(declared war on the tree), I think ‘natural’ would have been interrupted

Those are the things that naturally follow, when an undeveloped region’s population growth chronically exceeds what all available resources there are able to support. You can add waves of unwanted refugees migrating into other regions, if you like.

Natural has several common but differing meanings. I suppose more than one is applicable here. Overpopulation of a specie in the world of nature generally has similar predictable, natural consequences. In theory at least, we’re smarter than animals.

@Greg: So by your definition, killing babies (abortions) is a ‘natural’ consequence of getting pregnant when you don’t want to. Just whip out the old knife and ‘naturally’ get rid of the problem.

Socialism is a good cure for overpopulation. We have seen socialist regimes purge excess population by the millions.

@Greg: Your point??

@Greg: Or obamacare death panel!!

@Greg: Unwanted refugees?? How about illegal aliens??

@Greg:

Well, except for the people who fall for every new Malthusian scare that comes along….tell me again how accurate Paul Ehrlich was in his 1970 Malthusian tripe “The Population Bomb”? And Al Gore’s predictions about Polar Bear populations and the disappearance of the arctic ice cap that didn’t happen this year?

@Pete:

And Al Gore’s predictions about Polar Bear populations and the disappearance of the arctic ice cap that didn’t happen this year?

Pete, can you imagine how disappointed Algore must be that the Polar bears didn’t disappear and the ice cap didn’t melt? You know he was wishing for the worst case.

@Redteam: #17

You know he was wishing for the worst case.

Why do they schedule their conventions during the winter, and why is there a huge blizzard with record cold and snowfall almost every time? It’s like somebody is trying to tell them something, but they aren’t listening.

@Common Sense, #13:

I made my point in post #3.

@Common Sense:

Greg’s point is that he champions eugenicist solutions as opposed to organic or Darwinian ones.

Which nations or regions specifically are you talking about? Can you cite some examples?
