UNITED NATIONS — Bolivia will this month table a draft United Nations treaty giving “Mother Earth” the same rights as humans — having just passed a domestic law that does the same for bugs, trees and all other natural things in the South American country.
The bid aims to have the UN recognize the Earth as a living entity that humans have sought to “dominate and exploit” — to the point that the “well-being and existence of many beings” is now threatened.
The wording may yet evolve, but the general structure is meant to mirror Bolivia’s Law of the Rights of Mother Earth, which Bolivian President Evo Morales enacted in January.
That document speaks of the country’s natural resources as “blessings,” and grants the Earth a series of specific rights that include rights to life, water and clean air; the right to repair livelihoods affected by human activities; and the right to be free from pollution.
It also establishes a Ministry of Mother Earth, and provides the planet with an ombudsman whose job is to hear nature’s complaints as voiced by activist and other groups, including the state.
Has the UN fell off the wagon again ?

Just another reason that the UN needs to be shuffled off to some third world country, either in Africa or South America. Anywhere but within our borders, and we, as a country, need to tell them not to bother calling us anymore, as we will be screening our calls.

So let me see, if I cut down a tree or step on an ant hill and I’ll be carted off to the Hague as a war criminal.

The UN has zero Sovereignty and by the US Constution should be given NONE within the Borders of the US. Take the mischief and thievery to another venue. Period. The UN is NOT a Governing Body anywhere except by agreement on the Property in which their Office Space sits. The Termination of that agreement which serves no useful purpose is way past due.
Relocate the UN to Mogadishu or Djibouti. Withdraw the US from Membership as the UN has proven to be a soapbox for Tyrants, Tin Pot Dictators and a den of Corruption everywhere it has operated. It has long ago strayed from it’s Original Purpose and needs to go the way of Wilson’s League of Nations. Period.

No World Body that has their track record of Embezzlement, Waste Fraud and Abuse of US Tax Dollars should be deserving of residency within Our Borders. Expel their “Diplomats” Now. Give them 30 days to vacate.

Greg, I was quoting the bible for the purpose of dramatization. I suppose I should take caution in doing so, because unless someone has an understanding of classical hebrew the bible is very hard to understand and nobody can decode classical hebrew, by the way, it has no punctuation. So that’s my argument against anyone who claims to understand the old testament.
As far as the new testament everything you just mentioned is debatable as to gods intention of humanity being held hostage by the EPA, or even environmentalism. I do think humans have dominion over the earth, that’s my point, this is a simple case of the UN wanting to have dominion over the US and its wrong!

If any of you doubt OT, I would suggest that you read a book called “Shake Hands With the Devil” by Lt Gen Romeo Dallaire, who was the Canadian General in charge of the UN “peacekeeping” force in Rwanda, 1993-94. It is a horror story that details the ignorance, incompetence and outright criminality of the UN diplomats and mission he answered to in the performance of his duties. An excellent example of organizational failure was Dallaire’s inability to secure adequate vehicles for his command troops and even having to SHARE a vehicle himself with minor diplomats since the transportation budget had been consumed in the purchasing of a high end model Mercedes for EACH of the UN diplomats that popped in from time to time. UN member troops typically arrived with none of their own funds for quarters or even provisions. The UN doesn’t look to US participation (US participation is UN code for American $) in these cluster f$#&s for nothing, you know.
Dallaire was implicated (by Belgium) in the murder of ten Belgian soldiers by the Rwandan army (who were supposedly allied with) but was exonerated of the charges.
Dallaire was a tough French Canadian who rose through the ranks of the Canadian Army at a time when his ethnic background was a serious liability bt these experiences screwed him up.
OT most certainly has a take (pro or con) on Dallaire’s performance.
When I went to type this post, I went to google to check some facts and found that Dallaire has become a Canadian senator and has been the subject of several films and has written another book.
I do not believe that they were able to protect any Rwandans in the long term before they were ordered to leave the country. At least he didn’t get his arms chopped off!

OT, I often think about what will happen when someone here (Al Sharpton perhaps) requests UN intervention in some situation here where they are not happy with what the results their demonstrations are getting. Or maybe with another Rodney King/LA riots scenario. As hard as I try, I can’t think of any reason why it will not become reality sooner or later on the path we are on at the moment.

Having deployed on three KFOR and SFOR Missions, I can say that the UN was difficult to deal with, impossible to trust and their Personnel were as guilty of Crimes that bordered on those that We were actively hunting for rape, murder, extortion and genocide.
Refugees needed protection as much from the UN as from the Serbian Militias. As Gen Romeo Dallaire could testify, it was hard to tell who was oppressing whom. I am both honored and proud of My Service alongside Canadian Forces in the Balkans as well as in Afghanistan. No better Friends and No Finer Allies. They held Kandahar Airfield while My Group was in Helmand Province against all comers and kept it safe and secure.
There is not a more thankless tasking than a UN Peacekeeping Mission.

I have a friend who was at a meeting (accompanying his commander) with Milosevic. He doesn’t talk about service there much but when the subject comes up, he face looks like he is having a hemorrhoid flareup.
He is an AF air strike controller attached to army armor units but by now he’s been at it a while and I am sure he doesn’t crawl around in the dark by himself (except maybe for fun). He rarely says more than a word or two about his experience but once when he got back from somewhere in the desert, I was talking to him and mentioned a cheap commercial laser sight I had bought for a .22 that I owned and how it was too low power to be useful at any but point blank range during the day. I said I suspected that military models were more powerful and more useful.
He says (forgive any slight misquote), “They got that great cigarette effect”
Me, “Huh?”
Him, “They’re perfect for smokin a camel in the dark.”
He’s a good guy who comes and goes a fair amount. Not much stability for his family. He will do me for a hero till John Wayne comes back. He is near the end of his career and ready to let them have all those stripes back.
OT, when you decide to unload on the UN, be sure to give me a heads up. I want to join in on the fireworks. I consider them to be the most contemptible and corrupt organization in the world today. I think we should start the ball rolling for ouster of that cess pool from our country. If Obama continues to defeat himself, the time will be right for the New Republicans to split the sheets with the tin horn dictators and terrorists within the UN.

HE was a BRITISH and his NAME IS GALBRAIT, went to the UN to repoert that there was corruption going on inside the top guy in AFGHANISTAN and was told to not talk about it and it was not happening, and after ward he was let go for sticking to his allegations so he went public and told his story,

If the reference is to that collection of foreign government ministries officed in that glass building on First Avenue and 42 Street then we are discussing a plot of commercial real estate fully occupied with free rent seekers. The place is a great deal slush fund paid for by American taxpayers when the space could be cleared out and reoccupied by tax paying individuals seeking residences with spectacular eastwardly-westwardly views of city and ocean and commercial businesses (New York City Hollywoodland film production industry) wanting a prime mid-town location. Google just bought, for one billion dollars, a twenty five story squat in Soho-Chelsea which, when given the chance, they would have gobbled that space at 42nd & First.
Politically that plot has major support from all political parties and candidates, the city of New York is being ruled held hostage by five star french restaurants and the secret corporations which own them.
