Thanks to Barack Obama’s failed economic policies tent cities have sprung up around 55 American cities. Today 3 million more Americans are out of work than when President Barack Obama was first elected. 5,000 people are living in dozens of homeless camps across the country.
The BBC reported:Tent cities have sprung up in and around at least 55 American cities – they represent the bleak reality of America’s poverty crisis.
According to census data, 47 million Americans now live below the poverty line – the most in half a century – fuelled by several years of high unemployment.
One of the largest tented camps is in Florida and is now home to around 300 people. Others have sprung up in New Jersey and Portland…
Don’t believe anything like this that doesn’t backup its purported evidence with a citation. Actually, the number of unemployed has decreased in January to 12.8 million. http://www.bls.gov/news.release/empsit.nr0.htm
There was a time when our city (a magnet for the homeless) would keep tent cities to a bare minimum….just a couple of hermit-types who refused to take a bed in a shelter, secular or religious.
Then we had a senseless murder in a tent city, couple of years ago.
They all disappeared for a time.
Now, however, they are back in great numbers all around our freeway under/overpasses and on our cement riverbed sides, too.
They even have a ”trash day,” when the city picks up their refuse as it piles up near Willow and the 710 N freeway exit to Willow East.
Normally there is not a huge pile of garbage there, but every month they put out all their garbage and the City somehow collects it.
(I say somehow because it is neither in bins, cans nor even bags. It is loose and there is a lot of it.)
People always ask me why LB has so many homeless compared with nearby cities.
We FEED them.
We have a schedule set up at a couple of parks where churches and charities, restaurant owners and others can take a meal a week or more and supply food for about 1000 people.
27 meals a week are scheduled at a couple parks and the schedule is always filled in by caring people.
(That’s 27,000 meals/week per park location.)
No wonder we attract the homeless in great numbers.
Whole families of homeless.
Bloggers who are homeless and blog about it.

Yes, Obama is responsible for a lot of the new faces down at the riverbed and along the freeway in these past two years.
He really can’t ”blame Bush,” for this.
@Liberal1 (objectivity):
I would have thought your media matter handlers would trained you to google. It’s a great tool. Very useful. It took oh so like three seconds to identify River Haven CA, Ontario CA, and East Athens GA as Obamavilles, and I easily stumbled upon a 2010 pdf report from the National Coalition for the Homeless: Tent Cities in America: A Pacific Coast Report on the matter in those couple seconds as well.
BTW – unemployment decreased because the gov’t stopped counting certain unemployed individuals. They call them discouraged workers. You get that, gov’t stopped counting certain unemployed b/c they are too unemployed. Orwellian – bragging about unemployment decreasing because you care not to count certain undesirables.
“And if all others accepted the lie which the Party imposed-if all records told the same tale-then the lie passed into history and became truth.”
@mossomo: Glad you jumped in! I was getting weary trying to educate the Liberal ones.
