TEN states where Obamacare wipes out existing healthcare plans

Clyde:

According to The Daily Caller President Barack Obama famously promised, “If you like your health care plan, you can keep your health care plan.” He later got even more specific.

“If you are among the hundreds of millions of Americans who already have health insurance through your job, or Medicare, or Medicaid, or the VA, nothing in this plan will require you or your employer to change the coverage or the doctor you have,” Obama said.

But as Obamacare’s rollout approaches, we have learned this is not true. Here are the ten states where consumers may like their health care plans, but they won’t be able to keep them.

1) California: 58,000 will lose their plans under Obamacare. The first bomb dropped in California with a mass exodus from the most populated state’s Obamacare exchange. Aetna, the country’s largest insurer, left first in July and was closely followed by UnitedHealth. Anthem Blue Cross pulled out of California’s Obamacare exchange for small businesses as well.

Fifty-four percent of Californians expect to lose their coverage, according to an August poll.

2) Missouri: Patients of the state’s largest hospital system — which spans 13 hospitals including the St. Louis Children’s Hospital — will not be covered by the largest insurer on Obamacare exchanges, Anthem BlueCross BlueShield. Anthem covers 79,000 patients in Missouri who may seek subsidies on Obamacare exchanges, but won’t be able to see any doctors in the BJC HealthCare system.

3) Connecticut: Aetna, the third largest insurer in the nation, won’t offer insurance on the Obamacare exchange in its own home state, where it was founded in 1850. The reason? “We believe the modification to the rates filed by Aetna will not allow us to collect enough premiums to cover the cost of the plans and meet the service expectations of our customers,” said Aetna spokesman Susan Millerick.

4) Maryland: 13,000 individuals covered by Aetna and its recently-purchased Coventry Health Care won’t be able to keep their insurance plans if they want Obamacare subsidies on the exchanges. Aetna and Coventry canceled plans to offer insurance in the exchange when state officials wouldn’t allow them to charge premiums high enough to cover costs.

5) South Carolina: 28,000 people were insured by Medical Mutual of Ohio, SC’s second-largest insurance company, until it decided to leave the state entirely in July due to Obamacare’s “vast and quite complex” new regulations. Company spokesman Ed Byers said Medical Mutual’s patients would be switched over to United Healthcare plans instead.

So this is fact? Media matters? Get real. You lefties supported Michael Mann and his faulty tree ring hockey stick. This is along the same line. Don’t you get tired of propaganda? Don’t you ever think for yourselves?

The subsidies are only available through state-based exchanges.
Poor people who use a FEDERAL exchange will not get any subsidy at all.
People who insure OUTSIDE the exchange system cannot get any subsidy either.
So, only people who qualify for and want the subsidy must use a state exchange insurer.
And, look at the details, you can get one, for example, in Missouri, but you will have to bypass most of Missouri’s hospitals and doctors!
So, what good is that?
Same in all the states.

What’s ”the plan?”
To have poor sick people act like Occupy Wall Street’ers and simply wash up where they have no coverage?
Demand care from those not paid a penny to give it?
I bet we see a lot of that.
These people, like ”this one,” are pretty dumb.
Remember Michelle Obama’s job?
She turned poor people away from a hospital in Chicago for hundreds of thousands of dollars a year.

@Nan G: the only way Unaffordable No-Care Act will work is if they don’t treat the poor and very ill. Palin was right, there are death panels and Mooch is an expert on them and killing the poor.

they sure cannot blame the REPUBLICAN FOR THE SHUTDOWN IF THEY DO IT THE OBAMA
will be the one to have the people point finger on,
AND THEY ARE NOT AT WORK TRYING TO PREVENT IT,
the ball is in the DEMOCRAT’S SENAT,
I HAVE AN IDEA HERE,
IF THEY DARE SHUT THE GOVERNMENT, TELL THEM THE WHITE HOUSE
will be shut and no pay for 6 months MORE,
THEN, NO ONE WILL MISS ANYTHING, AND ALL WILL FONCTION AS USUAL,

Despite the leftist trolls who try to put forth convincing arguments here, they apparently don’t bother to read the links they actually post here. There is no “schooling” going on or settled arguments to their links. Just a great deal of those who choose to read from the sales brochures the Obama folks put out containing their talking points. Logic and reason don’t penetrate their skulls because propaganda from their chosen party gives it no room to do so. Even in their comments sections there are arguments to the contrary, with which is met with a little to no tolerance from the Obama faithful. It appears to me logic and reason find an uncomfortable existence with many on the left, whereas feelings and emotion rule the roost.

This should make us all uncomfortable.

This One has demononstrated time and again that he (or she, who knows) is a clueless leftist nincompoop. He will throw up (pun intended) references from ThinkProgress, Media Matters, HuffPo and CrooksandLiars to attempt justification of his twisted Orwellian worldview, and laughably think he has made any kind of a valid point. But when the troll is asked point blank questions regarding the inherent flaws of obamacare, he flatly ignores actual data and substantive points of discussion.

Attempting to have an actual debate or discussion with a leftist is usually the epitome of an exercise in futility, because as we all know, to a leftist reality is irrelevent. The only thing that matters is that the leftist thinks he is trying to do what he thinks is ‘good’ – and actual results are unimportant. The inherently negative effects of leftist philosophy are pesky annoyances that should be ignored while we are forced to bask in the glow of their alleged good intentions. Dealing with leftists, especially when they are in charge of anything, is analogous to being forced at gunpoint to admire the structural design of the Titanic while it is sinking.

@This one:

I will try again.

If obamacare is so great:

1. Why did congress get OMB to grant a de facto waiver by forcing taxpayers to cover congressional staffers and congress members insurance costs, in response to congress member’s concerns over “brain drain” from D.C? Do you even see the hypocrisy in congress getting their insurance paid for while employees around the country are being forced to pay for their own insurance in the more expensive exchanges?

2. If obamacare is going to have such a great positive effect on the US economy, why did Obama illegally delay the employer mandate until after the 2014 elections?

3. How is obamacare going to increase available medical care without increasing the number of doctors for the 30-50 million newly insured patients? How can this not increase waiting times for patients?

4. How on earth can obamacare cut costs of medical care while adding layers of government bureaucrats to the medical system, especially when the purpose of these new government employees has nothing to do with increasing the amount of available medical care, but only with the already burdensome administrative aspects of medical care?

5. How can obamacare be honestly touted as being able to decrease the deficit, or be cheaper than current medical insurance costs, when taxpayers are going to be on the hook for subsidies to cover the cost of health insurance for anyone who claims to make less than 400% of the BLS poverty level? Doesn’t the fact that taxpayers have to pay any subsidies at all demonstrate clearly that obamacare is more expensive than current medical insurance?

6. If obamacare was going to be so good for companies and individuals, why has Sebelius had to grant over 1000 waivers? Why are union bosses like Trumka and Hoffa shrieking for unions to be exempted like Congress has been from having to pay for their own obamacare premiums?

7. Can you even admit that when Obama said we could keep our own doctors and insurance plans if we liked them…and that under obamacare insurance premiums would go down by $2500/yr…that he lied? If he wasn’t lying, then how do you square his claims with the reality of costs going UP, people losing work hours and employer health benefits being cut due to the effects of obamacare?

8. Democrats insisted that illegal aliens would not be covered under obamacare, but we are now being told that they will be. With so many lies coming from Obama and the democrats, why should we believe anything they claim about the benefits of this evil legislation?

9. Obamacare will pay for the murder of the unborn. That means taxpayers who have religious beliefs that abortion is murder are being forced, despite the First Amendment freedom of religious expression, to violate their religious beliefs in having to pay for abortions. Moreover, catholic hospitals and charities are being told that they have to cover abortion and abortificient birth control under obamacare. This is a serious violation of the religious tenets of their faith. Why are you leftists not caterwauling about these civil rights violations?

TO – Do you really think it is fair to force people to buy insurance coverage for things they do not need? Honestly, do you think that men need to have insurance for maternity, birth control, or mammograms? Do women past menopause need insurance coverage for maternity/birth control, or prostate exams? Does everyone need insurance coverage for chiropractic services, mental health services, and drug rehab services? Because obamacare requires all insurance policies to have coverage for all these things, regardless of whether or not an individual needs/wants them. Policies that do not include all the mandatory coverage are illegal and cannot be sold anymore. This type of one-size-fits-all policy, without regard to individualized risks, by definition INCREASES the cost of everyone’s insurance policy. Why should an individual be forced to purchase insurance for things that he or she does not want nor need? Do you really think this kind of totalitarian mindset is a good idea?

This is a prime example of leftists “thinking” that because it would be nice for everyone to have ‘free’ health care, it is justifiable to destroy the current health system so leftists can fool themselves into feeling good about “doing something for the poor”….in spite of the fact that their actions do exactly the opposite of what they intend to do.

Mully
very interesting to all who struggle to make the end month budget,
there should be a adaptation and deduction fix on the number of citizens not working
along with the amount of welfare recipient and the amount spent on card and stamps for those in need,
then their earning would be reduce accordingly,
who would have the ultimate guts to hurt itself and all the GOVERNMENT EARNING DOWNWARD FAIR TO THE PEOPLE PAYING THE SHOT,
they all should pay any extras with their earning , just like the people do, and get paid taking account of the people’s success or downfall which is the now trend,
equivalent on the citizens earning
the citizens paying their own expanses from their pocket
this is outrageous of seeing the waste they are doing while they have the gal to tell the people what they should do, or not,
and he won’t negociate, well send him home, he doesn’t belong there,

how dare they want to sell the PEOPLE THAT MEDIOCRE PLAN,
they don’t want it themselves, and the worse thing about it ,
is the people who are paying them to serve,
THE PEOPLE WANT THE BEST NOTHING ELSE,
THE BEST FOR AMERICAN OR KEEP YOUR CRUMPS,
AND THROW IT AMONG YOUR OWN,

@This one: media matters and paul krugman and chris maddow….i mean hayes…….. my you are funny and pathetic

Why don’t republican leaders have the courage to tell their constituents the truth? There’s no way they’re going to eliminate a law by way of the budget or debt ceiling processes. They should be focusing on useful, practical goals, such as spending cuts that could actually be achieved via bargaining and compromise.

Obamacare will soon be in full effect. The voters will then be able to determine for themselves whether all the dire predictions were accurate, or just another load of horse manure. If the dire predictions turn out to be accurate, republicans should have little difficulty gaining political support for repeal.

Apparently they aren’t particularly confident about the accuracy of their own predictions.

Greg
you are lying by saying the REPUBLICANS DID NOT HAVE THE COURAGE,
WHAT DO YOU THINK THEY DID THESES LAST DAYS,
IT TOOK COURAGE TO GET IN THE MAKING OF DEFUNDING THAT LAW ,
AND THEY WON’T LET IT PALE,
this is the beginning ,
they have been insulted by DEMOCRATS SHOWING THEIR CORRUPT MINDSET TO BECOME FOREVER IN SHAME OF WHAT CAME OUT OF THEIR MOUTH, AND THE PUBLIC
NOTICE THE SICK HISTERIA FROM DEMOCRATS,
HOW LOW CAN THEY GET AND THEY DID GET AS LOW,

@Greg: If the dire predictions turn out to be accurate, republicans should have little difficulty gaining political support for repeal.

By then, since the law will already be in effect, any attempts to repeal it will be met with claims of trying to dispossess poor people of the health care they are guaranteed by law. Certainly you appreciate these difficulties, don’t you?
