Jim Hoft:
Earlier today Kentucky Democratic County Clerk Kim Davis was jailed for not signing gay marriage licenses.
Today Senator Ted Cruz put out this message on the controversy:
“Where is the call for President Obama to resign for defying our immigration laws, our welfare reform laws, and even his own Obamacare?“
When the mayor of San Francisco and President Obama resign, then we can talk about Kim Davis:https://t.co/zyBRG91OXG pic.twitter.com/fg5MBSzRDn

This isn’t exactly the case. She was given a way out where she would not have to compromise her religious beliefs. The reason she was jailed was that she forbid her five deputy clerks from issuing the marriage certificates. The judge said, basically, “fine, you don’t have to issue them, but your OFFICE does” and ordered her to rescind her order forbidding the clerks from issuing the certificates. She refused. She was jailed not for her personal religious values, but for forcing her personal religious values onto others against their will (her deputy clerks).
