Sy Hirsh also now claims that Zelensky embezzled over $400 million in US aid. He claims that Zelensky claimed he was buying oil on the open market, but actually bought it from Russia. Russia’s oil prices are low because they’re locked out of the open market and selling at a discount.
Then, the claim goes, Zelensky pocketed the difference between the price he claimed he paid and the price he actually paid. Which was $400 million.
In his latest Substack article, Hersh delved into the rampant corruption allegedly taking place among Ukraine’s political elite, suggesting the situation is worse than most people think. He explained that according to one source in the American intelligence community, Zelensky has been purchasing “discount diesel” from Russia with American money, and stashing the leftover funds.
“The Ukrainian president and many in his entourage have been skimming untold millions from the American dollars earmarked for diesel fuel payments,” Hersh wrote. Analysts at the Central Intelligence Agency, he continued, put the number at “$400 million last year, at least,” while another expert likened the level of corruption in Ukraine to that of the war in Afghanistan. During that conflict, the US was paying up to $400 per gallon to move fuel from foreign ports into the nation. It has not been revealed how much is being paid for diesel in Ukraine.
As Hersh pointed out, CIA Director William Burns confronted Zelensky on the issue of corruption during a meeting in January, telling the Ukranian president that other officials were mad at him for “taking a larger share of the skim money than was going to the generals.”
Burns provided Zelensky with a list of high-ranking Ukrainian officials known by the CIA as corrupt, and he responded by firing ten who had been “brazenly bragging about the money they had.”
Is this true? No idea.
Snopes is pretty sure, though. Imposing a standard they never, ever imposed on the media and Hillary Clinton Campaign’s risible claims about RUSSIAN COLLUSION, they now say that Hirsh has “no evidence” for his claim, with the implication that it should therefore be treated as false.
Oh, and they also say that these charges are “promoted” by Russian media, so that’s another reason you should just assume this is MOAR RUSSIAN COLLUSION.
On April 12, 2023, journalist Seymour Hersh published an article on Substack titled “Trading with the Enemy.” Its central allegation, heavily promoted by Russian state media and conspiracy websites like Infowars, was that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy had embezzled at least $400 million of U.S. aid money by using it to purchase discount fuel from Russia and pocket the difference[.]
Snopes said you shouldn’t believe his previous reporting about the Nord Pipeline, either, because Hirsh uses — brace yourself for this, people; the cringe is going to knock your heads back — “anonymous sources.”
The living lifeblood of leftwing partisan attack journalism, Snopes now declared is a reason to dismiss a report when it contradicts the Official State Propaganda line.
As Snopes explained in a story discussing those claims, Hersh’s later career has been controversial and widely panned by journalists for promoting conspiratorial claims that hinge on dubious anonymous sources or speculation. This later work is often sympathetic to Russian talking points, and his work is widely covered there.Hersh’s present claim fits plainly within that genre. Characteristically, it has been promoted by Russian media. Hours after publishing his piece, the Russian news agency TASS promoted Hersh’s claims[.]
Meanwhile, Michale Shellenberger reports that FaceBook Is now censoring the Sy Hirsh investigative piece that claimed, based on an unnamed highly-placed source, that the US blew up the Nord Stream pipelines. Which, by the way, Victoria Nuland virtually admitted to Congress. She bragged about it with an unmistakable whiff of Pride of Authorship and dirty vag but mostly Pride of Authorship.
But FaceBook has decided they’re so good at Censorship they should do more of it:

The American people have given Facebook broad liability protections under Section 230 that other media companies don't get.
And yet Facebook is acting like a media company, not a platform.
Why, then, is it getting Section 230 protection?https://t.co/LSymOnibss

This is the same FaceBook that censored the Hunter Biden laptop story to “fortify” the 2020 election.
