This freakin’ guy.
Any jagoff who claims he’s proud to pay 40 cents of every dollar he makes in taxes is either a complete moron or a total liar.
Perhaps in Obama’s case we should learn to embrace the power of ‘and.’
Look at this mess:
Former President Obama: "I pay more than 40 cents on every dollar I earn, so does Michelle — and we do it proudly because what I know is that this country has blessed me." pic.twitter.com/I12TVqWDgw

Did Team Biden really think bringing in Obama was a good idea?
I don't know about now, but as President he never paid that high an effective tax rate.
And tax rates today ARE LOWER. https://t.co/EK2tLEO9t7

BUT HE’S PROUD TO PAY IT!

Now, this was five years ago and it’s absolutely possible that magically Obama started paying more even though tax rates dropped A LOT, especially for those evil rich 1%rs buying homes in Martha’s Vineyard, but hey … no one has ever accused Obama of being overly honest.
Or sincere.
Or honest.
Yeah, we said that twice.
Just Go Away Biden we don’t need you anymore please return to your Castle on the hill and feed the Moat Monsters
Why would Obama stop lying, especially when he is campaigning for a proven corrupt criminal?
The statement above is deliberately deceptive. (As in, Sam J is a liar, and anyone who unquestioningly believes this sort of hogwash is being duped.) $81,472 is only the total of federal income taxes that the Obamas paid. Do state, county, local, and sales taxes not count as taxes? Do FICA taxes not count as taxes? They’ve sure as hell always been part of the total taxes that have come out of my pocket.
I’m not the least bit surprised that the Obamas paid 40 cents of every dollar of income in total taxes. Nor am I surprised that they paid over 10 times as much in federal income taxes as Donnie Boy.
@Greg: We’re talking federal taxes. Obama is a liar, we all know it . He never hesitates to lie. He lied about Obamacare kicking people off their insurance and Biden lied about people losing their insurance. Obama is campaigning for a corrupt criminal, but that’s nothing new for that scumbag.
@Greg: Why do they count for the only President awarded with lie of the year but not for Trump. so you knew you lied when you said 750 bucks.We know just property tax on Mara Largo is over a half million, that is just one property.
@kitt: Well, Democrats only include every tax paid anywhere in any way for any thing when they discuss THEIR taxes. Of course, they aren’t used to debating with people with operational brains.
@Deplorable Me, #4:
That’s not what Lying Sam J said. He conflated total taxes with federal taxes. I saw him do it, like an unskilled two-bit grifter running a clumsy corner shell game:
What clever verbal sleight of hand! I am totally taken in! Was that the pea rolling across the sidewalk?
Obama never claimed to pay 40 cents of every dollar in federal taxes. He was talking total taxes. A family or individual’s tax burden includes everything, not just one thing or another. Our normal concern is what we have left to meet our expenses.
@kitt, #5:
The story about Trump was in reference to the federal income taxes he paid. The New York Times article specified that.
@Greg:
Did you miss this?
“The Obamas paid $81,472 in total tax. The President’s effective federal income tax rate is 18.7 percent.”
Even if you add up what the Obama’s paid in state income tax and property taxes, they paid a total of 29% in taxes.
But here’s the question; Obama’s AGI was $290,640.00 according to the tax return you provided for 2105. That is after allowable deductions. He paid 28% in federal taxes on the AGI. But here is the tax schedule for 2015:
Table 1. 2015 Taxable Income Brackets and Rates
Rate Single Filers Married Joint Filers Head of Household Filers
ons.
10% $0 to $9,225 $0 to $18,450 $0 to $13,150
15% $9,225 to $37,450 $18,450 to $74,900 $13,150 to $50,200
25% $37,450 to $90,750 $74,900 to $151,200 $50,200 to $129,600
28% $90,750 to $189,300 $151,200 to $230,450 $129,600 to $209,850
33% $189,300 to $411,500 $230,450 to $411,500 $209,850 to $411,500
35% $411,500 to $413,200 $411,500 to $464,850 $411,500 to $439,000
39.6% $413,200+ $464,850+ $439,000+
Why didn’t the Obama’s pay the 33% as per schedule?
@Greg:
Prove it.
@retire05:
Because, like Bernie “Tax for Thee, not for Me” Sanders said, “he’s not crazy”. NO ONE pays more taxes than they have to, and that most exclusively includes those who brag about paying high taxes and encourage more taxes for others, like Frankenstein Kerry.
@Greg:
That describes everything you sh*theads say about Trump’s tax returns…and everything else.
Get bent.
@Greg:
And frequently mis-quoted after that, including Savannah Guthrie.
The point was to proof-text the taxes to pretend Trump paid less than the average American, which is patently false.
Trump has paid more in taxes alone than the wanna-be Obamas have ever earned in their lives, combined.
@retire05, #9:
Obviously I didn’t miss it, because I quoted that particular deceptive paragraph word for word.
Did you look at the the Obamas’ linked tax return for the year in question? $81,472 on line 63 is the total FEDERAL taxes paid, not the the total of all taxes paid.
WRONG.
The Obama’s live in Washington DC. In addition to federal income taxes, they pay a district income tax at a rate of 8.95%, a 6% sales tax, real estate taxes at a rate of 0.55%, and FICA taxes. If you want to get a rough idea of how that works out, plug their income of $394,454 into this tax estimate calculator for a married couple living in the District of Columbia for year 2019 and look at the results yourself. That will yield an effective tax rate of 32 percent, but this is without counting their real estate taxes or their 6 percent DC sales tax. As of 2012, annual property tax on their home at 2446 Belmont Rd NW in Washington was $34,700; that amount won’t have gone down since they purchased it.
Adding real estate taxes in pushes their total taxes paid to over 40 percent of their total income for the year, and that’s without including DC’s 6 percent sales tax.
I think that pretty much establishes that you don’t know what you’re talking about.
@Greg: The Obamas got rich being the President and first lady.
Trump lost money becoming President, and doesn’t take a salary.
Who do you trust?
And don’t argue number with greg. He throws up a bunch of stuff just to show he knows nothing about tax law or simple debate. He’s just a paid troll from China.
@Greg: But we aren’t adding up Trump’s income, state, sales, real estate or fees on disposable bottles, are we? Can you NEVER compare apples and apples? Can you NEVER discuss facts and truth? Why don’t you ask yourself why the left has to LIE about everything?
@Nathan Blue:
They got rich from the publication of several internationally best selling books, from many highly paid celebrity speaking engagements following their time in the White House, and from having wisely invested the proceeds.
Trump was losing money long before. He had defaulted on multi-million-dollar loan payments and had been extended additional multi-million dollar loans to keep ahead of his creditors. The fact that both loans were from Deutsche Bank, which has paid huge fines for its involvement in large-scale Russian money laundering schemes, is one reason that situation is so worrying.
@Greg:
Which no one but their cult following would bother buying or attending. They are corrupt liars, too.
@Greg: You can hop off the swaybacked Deutsche Bank horse how many banks have paid fines for laundering cartel money, Wells Fargo was one if you ever use that financial institution should you be under suspicion HSBC, Wachovia and many others? Its a mindless accusation really boring.
