Speaker Boehner: “Mr. President, It’s Plan B or Be Responsible For the Largest Tax Hike In History”

Gabriel Malor @ Ace of Spades HQ:

A very strong statement from Speaker Boehner:

“Tomorrow the House will pass legislation to make permanent tax relief for nearly every American — 99.81% of the American people. Then the President will have a decision to make. He can call on the Senate Democrats to pass that bill or he can be responsible for the largest tax increase in American history.”

I think the Speaker has been disatisfied with the media coverage of Plan B thus far. By keeping his statement to 56 seconds, he basically gets to choose the content of the clip used by the broadcast evening newscasts this evening. Yesterday, Boehner said he was still open to negotiations with President Obama. This is a direct rebuke to Obama’s noon presser wherein he said he would not negotiate over many aspects of the fiscall cliff.

House GOP has been whipping Plan B since yesterday. Americans for Tax Reform (Norquist’s outfit) is for it, Heritage Action* is against it. I’d say Boehner’s got the votes

I hope Boehner sticks to his guns…and doesn’t back down…I think he just backed the Dems and Ofraud into a tight corner…I am amazed… I hope I stay that way…

I agree with a comment I read…Good, let the wealthy, especially those [who spout fair share! fair share!] who supported and voted for the Ofraud get a good taste of what they voted for….

I read a lot of the comments on the Video Link page…OMG!! some people are hilarious and so clever in their comments I got a good chuckle quite a few times….

@FAITH7:

Unfortunately, whatever Boehner is proposing isn’t going to do a damn bit of good when it comes to deficits. The government will still maintain unsustainable deficits that will push our debt to GDP ratio to disastrous levels, and we aren’t Greece. We don’t have anyone that can catch us when we fall.

@johngalt#2 I totally agree with you…

Haven’t we been saying all along…the government can take all wealthy’s money it’s not going to put a nick in our deficit…we all understand that. Since 2009 we have repeatedly said we cannot “spend our way out of debt” and we cannot spend more than we take in… this has consistently fallen on deaf ears…

I have recently read that Ofraud already, Already!! has “plans” for “NEW” spending to the tune of 75% of “his” new (revenue) taxes… If this is true, then this is insanity…

I am just tired of Ofrauds and his ilk’s arrogance, and rhetoric when it comes to our debt…and “their” spending…Ofraud in my eyes doesn’t have any so called plans to resolve our debt problem he just twists everything to make it appear that it is the republicans fault “that we are not getting anywhere” as far as our debt problems are concerned… the ball seems to be in Ofrauds court now…

Do I want to see us fall? Do I want us to become Greece??… Of course not! But, quite frankly I’ve grown tired of all the back and forth bullsh*t…the pandering…the blaming…the politicking and beating around the bush. ” There are no insoluble government problems.” These people know exactly what they have to do to resolve this problem and quite frankly not one of them has the u know whats to do it!

We are about to bear the brunt of the adage – ‘elections have consequences’…this is something I have had to come to terms with since November….I have no direct control over what is going to happen….I am bracing myself…sadly for the worse…

We have a real “representation” problem in Washington. Why is Boehner having negotiations with the President in the first place? Is he my representative now? Offer a plan and bring it to a vote, then the Senate can sit on it, revise it, or vote on it. We gave up our right to representation months ago when Congressmen/women voted to allow a committee to come up with a plan to address the deficit. Shock, they couldn’t agree on anything to fix the problem and kicked the can down the road so to speak. And in a few weeks the automatic cuts go into effect and our taxes go up. Fine job of representing the people. Now, panic has set in and a “deal” must be carved out before we go over the cliff. Well folks, these politicians having been playing politics for so long they have forgotten how to represent the people. Boehner will make a deal, they’ll kiss one another’s arse and we get screwed again. Yes, fire Washington.
