Republican challenger Mitt Romney has shot ahead of President Barack Obama in polls taken since Wednesday night’s debate. In the debate, Mr. Romney won handily over Mr. Obama, who looked irritated and confused at times.
Not only have new polls shown Mr. Romney now leading President Obama nationally, but the Republican has also taken the lead in key swing states. This comes after Mr. Obama was leading in all polls prior to the debate.
In Colorado, both Gravis Marketing and McLaughlin & Associates, Mr. Romney now leads. Gravis’s poll shows the GOP candidate with a 49.4-45.9% lead. McLaughlin shows a 50-46% lead for Mr. Romney.
In Florida, WeAskAmerica and Rasmussen Reports show Mr. Romney with a multiple-point lead. According to Rasmussen, Romney leads 49-47%. WeAskAmerica has the numbers at 49-46%.
In Virginia, again, WeAskAmerica and Rasmussen Reports show Mr. Romney in the lead. Rasmussen has Romney leading 49-48% over President Obama. WeAskAmerica shows Mr. Romney with a 48-45% lead.
I think Rasmussen is a rolling poll.
It averages a few days’ worth of polls, dropping the oldest as it adds the latest day’s data.
So, it is only partly showing any Romney bounce.
The other polls I have no idea if they are stand alone after the debate polls or not.
I know a couple of major polls also average many days’ totals.
this is good to know that AMERICA IS paying attention,

BUT a ”surge” is a movement in a direction.
A ”surge” doesn’t mean a tidal wave or tsunami.

I’ve called out polls of ”adults,” as mere popularity contests for a long time, longer ago than last week.
Polls of ”registered voters” is simply one step up from adults.
Many, many registered voters don’t vote.
But we’ve been looking at polls of both registered voters who have voted in their two previous elections, or, “likely voters,” (Rasmussen and a few others) as well as a new designation; polls of absolutely positive to vote registered voters (I forget which ones).
Rasmussen has rolling polls, so the surge for Romney took three days to be fully seen there.
He is now at 49% to Obama’s 47% nationwide which is a significant upward move from 3 days ago.
This ”surge” might be a bounce….you know, a temporary thing.
Only time will tell.

No, bees, I don’t think you can ask to change an early vote.
People have voted early only to see their choice die or be exposed in a bad scandal and be stuck with their vote.
We fill out our Absentee Ballots then hold on to them for a while before mailing them in.
Just in case.

I have consistently stated that I distrust polls and consider them little more than predisposed statistical garbage. They are too easily manipulated and massaged into having predetermined bias’. A question asked may differ from what is announced as the “results” dependent on how the question is worded compared to the conclusion. Who, what, where, when and how are all elements that, when examined for their specifics, might show an inherent bias.
