Romney Jet ski Photo Somehow a “Gift” to Democrats

The liberal media is downright embarrassing themselves, now.  First, the way the Romney’s traveled with their dog on vacation was supposed to torpedo Mitt’s campaign, then it was the horrifying expose on Romney’s bully-boy antics in prep school, then it was Ann Romney’s bizarre and unseemly love of horseback riding, then Romney supposedly had a “supermarket scanner moment” because he was so “amazed” by WaWa’s touchtone ordering thingie.

Now this…They’ve really got the goods on them now…

Feast your eyes on these two insanely extravagant one percenters vacationing as only the richest of the rich can:

Whoever hear of such a thing? Americans – on vacation – on a lake – on a JET SKI!!11!

Seriously, I’m blushing for this Boston Globe columnist, Joan Vennochi – she must have drawn the short straw, or something,  to write something this hack-worthy.

The last thing Mitt Romney needs is a John Kerry moment that conjures up F. Scott Fitzgerald’s description of the very rich: “They are different from you and me.”

But like an early Independence Day gift to Democrats, there it was: the image of a grinning Mitt and wife, Ann, enjoying a perfect summer day on a jet ski on Lake Winnipesaukee in Wolfeboro, N.H., where the GOP’s presumptive presidential nominee owns a lust-inducing lakefront vacation home. The photo of the contented pair skimming joyfully over the water is a natural bridge to the next, less-quoted, line from Fitzgerald’s 1926 short story, “The Rich Boy”: “They possess and enjoy early, and it does something to them, makes them soft, where we are hard, cynical where we are trustful, in a way that, unless you were born rich, it is very difficult to understand.”

It’s a Kerry, moment, that’s what it is.

Romney would say he was born comfortable, and not as rich as he became from investing in struggling companies, and making millions whether they lived or died.(the fiend-ed.) But, during a slow holiday news week, the photo was featured in newspapers and websites, including the Romney-friendly Drudge Report. It was quickly compared with a September 2004 shot of Kerry windsurfing off Nantucket, tacking back and forth in the gusty air. Back then, Republicans swiftly turned the footage of the Democratic presidential nominee, which was also taken by news crews, into a deadly campaign spot that hit on two levels. It showed a candidate in an elite setting, engaged in a sport not considered a touchstone for the common man or woman. It also reminded voters of Kerry’s propensity for shifting with political winds.

Let me make something clear. Lurch wasn’t ridiculed just because he was fulfilling every preconceived notion anyone ever had about him by engaging in a sport “not considered a touchstone for the common man or woman.”  Not to be mean, but – he was ridiculed because he looked like a dork:

Kerry, reminding voters of his “propensity for shifting with political winds” (AKA windsurfing)

I wonder why she threw in that bit about “reminding voters of his propensity for shifting with political winds”….It seems weird and out of place. Did people really think that about the photo?  Or is she trying to make a cute little passive aggressive dig at Romney….hmmm…gosh….I just can’t say…

I think most voters remember that Kerry had a knack for looking dorky in photo ops throughout the entire 2004 campaign. The windsurfing pic was just one of many conservatives hooted at.

The Romney picture on the other hand, looks perfectly lovely. They both look very fit for their ages, and Romney looks mildly embarrassed to be taking a back set to his lovely wife. It’s a charming picture.

Laura Ingraham didn’t like it. She told Romney to get off his jet ski and on the campaign trail. Pretend it means nothing because you’ve been on a jet ski all you want.

If elected, it’s where Romney will be instead of a golf course.

“not considered a touchstone for the common man or woman.”
Joan Vennochi needs to visit backwoods Georgia sometime. Every home has a jetski or two in the yard. Many of them more expensive than Romney’s.
But this poor guy only has one!
This photo is a win for Romney, something that the “common man” can identify with.

A jet ski??? on a LAKE?? – Oh, the horror !!

Sarcasm is all mine.

I honestly do not know what this writer thinks. I just got back from vacationing at Kentucky Lake with my brother and his family and we rented a jet ski for a day. It was a blast! And I couldn’t even begin to count the numbers of private-owned jet skis on the lake during the day. It seemed like one out of every three or four watercraft was a jet ski.

Jet skis are a common man’s fun craft for the water. Anyone who thinks they are just for the “rich and well-to-do” haven’t been out all that much.

@Jason:

If elected, it’s where Romney will be instead of a golf course.

I fail to see how this is a bad thing, if it ended up being true. Most of us conservatives don’t have a problem with Obama playing golf, Jason. It’s the hypocritical nature of his lecturing others to conserve, save, and be frugal, while he and his family take it upon themselves to avail themselves of every perk possible while he is President. Or have you missed that part of it?

A jet ski is much cheaper than a boat! Or a yachet moored in RI.

Here is an elitist’s jet ski, take a look at Kerry’s multi-million dollar yacht. The same one he moored out of state to avoid paying taxes. The one he had built overseas to avoid paying American craftsmen.

I’m in a 27-unit condo.
There are 5 jet skis here in the secured garages.
But, I understand there are a few more in other storage units that a few of my neighbors keep for their extra stuff.
I don’t own one, but I get to go out on one any time I want.
Sometimes they are the perfect thing to do.

If you ever go to the beach, in the right setting, you’ll see plenty of wind surfing too.

Let the Romney’s have their fun on the jet ski; considering that Romney donated his inheritance 100%. Kerry oth married into wealth – his sugar mama was his meal ticket and, don’t get me started on the obama’s – million dollars vacations paid by yours truly – the taxpayers. He was broke when he lost the election to Rush in Chicago.
Pot meet Kettle!

This reeks of desperation of the Obamnation to find anything to throw at Romney in hopes that it will stick.

Romney’s new message for idiots: The Chinese have stolen our jobs. Three times, in one speech.

The reality? People of Romney’s class have outsourced millions of U.S. jobs to boost their profit margins. China didn’t steal anything. They took the jobs that they were offered. By people like Romney, who produce nothing. The same people that republicans want to give more tax cuts.

@Jason: Actually, this administration and their tax, environmental regulations and energy policies have sent the jobs over seas. Wasn’t it Government Motors that sent thousands of jobs to India? I know that Boston Scientific moved manufacturing jobs to China because of the Obamacare tax on medical deviccs. The Obama administration shut down the exploration for gas and oil in the Gulf and the rigs took the jobs to Brazil. The EPA attacked fracking and the jobs and expertise went to Russia and China to drill. It is only business owners who can take jobs overseas . Romney and people with the money to own business are the only ones who can do that. Can you blame them? They are in business to safe guard the stock holder’s interests in their company. Blame the politicians who can not control their spending and who do not have the guts to cut programs! Only shallow thinking people can blame business instead of the politicians for moving jobs over seas. Those shallow thinking people support and voted for Obama and they get what they deserve!

@Jason:

Ummm yeah, there were no dems that did that or dems in Congress to stop them. Yup, neeeeever happened.

You are clearly getting desperate if this is the best trolling you can do.

Wow!

Was he jet skiing on the taxpayer’s dime?
Probably not.
