LATimes:

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — In an unprecedented backlash, two state lawmakers who helped stiffen Colorado’s gun laws were ousted Tuesday in a recall that turned into a nationally watched referendum on gun control.

Colorado Senate President John Morse, who shepherded the legislation to passage, was defeated on a 51%-49% vote. Sen. Angela Giron of Pueblo, a fellow Democrat who voted in favor of the measures, lost 56% to 44%. They were replaced by Republicans who opposed the new restrictions.

The recall was the first in the 100 years since Colorado adopted the constitutional provision and grew out of sweeping measures passed last winter after mass shootings at a school in Newtown, Conn., and at a movie theater in Aurora, outside Denver.

Very symbolic of elected officials who think they are smarter than their voters. I would like to see more of this. McCain, Graham and Manchin come to mind.

It was not all about guns. The liberals pushed through a bogus voting bill. They required the rural electric cooperatives, that were formed to provide reasonable electrical rates for rural residents, to provide 20% of their electrical service with alternative energy sources. This by itself has potential to double electrical rates which are much higher than urban rates to as much as two times normal rates. The recall was also about not allowing Colorado residents to testify about the bills when they allowed out of state people to testify. I believe that if there were a recall for governor, he would have lost, too! The icing was when nearly $3M in funds were brought in from out of state to support the liberal effort to retain the seats. I am guessing that this kick in the head to Colorado voters may bleed over into the 2014 elections to include Governor and Senator Udall as well as some of the liberal seats in state and federal house of representatives.

What is interesting is how much more strident leftists are becoming in their compulsive need to force their wodview on the rest of us, all the while insisting that conservatives are closeminded and hopelessly intolerant.
They lambast conservatives for our supposedly irrational religious beliefs. All while closing their eyes against any and all evidence that disproves AGW cultism, Obama’s blatant foreign policy humiliations, and the clear disaster of obamacare….screaming that obama is only failing because conservatives are obstructionists.
God bless the voters of Colorado for throwing these two marxist thugs out. That is a good start. There are still a whole lot more to remove from the levers of governmental power.

I keep hoping something like this means Americans are waking up to this Liberal/Progressive “sickness”…perhaps there is ‘hope’ after all…

I say hurrah for Colorado!! Let’s just hope this spreads….

Senator McCain should be next… the man is a disaster…Ugh!!
