Who is bullying who:
A group of parents in Missoula, Mont. are upset over the religious nature of Christmas songs performed at a local elementary school – alleging the songs about the Baby Jesus is unconstitutional and a “form of bullying.”
The parents, who declined to be identified, are threatening to sue the Missoula County Public School District unless songs like “Joy to the World” and “Good Christian Men Rejoice” are replaced with secular tunes.
“Bullying is such a hot topic, yet that seems to be what is occurring here,” the parents wrote in a letter obtained by The Missoulian. “When the children are singing about the lord and savior Jesus Christ – public school is not the place.”
The complaint came from parents who have children attending Chief Charlo Elementary School. A number of students are Jewish, Buddhist, and Muslim.
They said they have no problem with Frosty the Snowman or Santa Claus – but the real reason for the Christmas season has no place in school concerts, they argued.
A “Form” of bullying?!? What exactly is a “Form” of bullying? Come on folks!?! We only go around once…..embrace life…
Besides, who could hate a baby? Unless, of course that baby is named Jesus? Are these people baby haters?!?
It makes me wonder if a public beheading, flogging or even a stoning would be more to their tune…
Well, this ain’t that!
Many Many people in America should just buy a box and live in it…or just never leave their homes unless absolutely necessary…ESPECIALLY around the Holidays! Oh, and NO days off!! Especially PAID Days off!!! [are they complaining about this?????] – Didn’t think so…
Seems there are too many people out to steal everyone’s joy… is joy around Christmas Time such a remote concept?
Liberalism has taught us to pick everything apart to find that “victimization seed”, then water it and let it GROW…Americans are being taught to do, and think the exact opposite of the tolerance professed by Liberalism…like, Don’t Tolerate Anything!!! Dammit!!! Let’s just hate everything – especially if it is not necessarily evil and it doesn’t impact people in a negative way!!!
If this is negative, then someone please let me know what the alternative is??
And, EVIL??? Yes, let’s embrace that!!! Sloth, government theft, socialism, redistribution, corruption, cheats, broken cities, Sloth, broken educational systems, Sloth, Public sector Unions who steal money from “the children”, broken families, single mothers via welfare, children without fathers via welfare, abortion, Liars… Sloth…. Yes, Yes, Yes, embrace it!! Embrace it all!!!
Christmas time is suppose to be a time of all the things Liberals enjoy Peace & Love – man!!…
Christmas is about Peace and Hope…Family gatherings…it’s suppose to be a “happy” time…good friends….laughter and happiness….is this such a remote concept???
Hey!…there is something for everyone around Christmas time – even Paid Holidays Off [and that is whether you believe or not] …Let’s see, is it possible if we dig a little, we can we find a “form” of bullying in that too???
@FAITH7:
Sure there is. Only people working, and those working full-time jobs, receive the benefits of having paid time off. Those working part-time, even if they have the days off, don’t get paid for it. And those not working, not only do not get paid for not working the day, to them, it is essentially just another day of not working.
Let’s start a movement for the government to give “just” and “fair” compensation to those who don’t receive the benefits of paid time off, not just for the holidays either, but paid vacation, paid sick-time, and bereavement leave. Part-time workers can submit a form on their income tax returns, receiving a credit back from the government for that time that they didn’t get paid. And people who don’t work can submit a form, at the same time, but obviously not for income tax purposes, receiving the same credit, but doubled, since they not only didn’t get a “day off” from not working, but didn’t get paid for it either.
After all, it’s not “fair” that some people are lucky enough to receive such benefits while others aren’t.
Unemployed and underemployed Unite! Demand your “fair share”!
Wow, they are at Chief Charlo elementary school. That offends me as a white person, I should sue!
Touche Johngalt. Very good ‘digging’ on your part….yes, the victimization syndrome… if such an occurrence did happen, should it surprise anyone?
@FAITH7:
A similar argument is made for the extension of unemployment benefits. Why not just extend it to include any “unfair advantage” that those working full-time jobs enjoy?
As the only non-Christian in a grammar school, I never missed out on the fun of so many of the holidays.
My parents dressed me in green for St. Patrick’s Day, sent me with candy and in a costume every Holloween, made sure I had cards and candy for St. Valentine’s Day.
Most of the students were not Catholic, but they still wore green and exchanged valentine cards, too.
No one felt or seemed oppressed.
But nowadays people think of themselves as victims and of themselves as tiny segments of the American experience.
They won’t embrace other segments.
Their loss.
Parochial (in the sense of small-minded) fools!
Nan you said it all… Why is it that everything that is done is disected and they find something to bitch about…The world is going to hell in a hand basket very fast. I can’t believe what is happening and the politicians that we elected are letting it happen. All the things that we have grown up with and made us good people have been taken away and it makes me sad…..
Dear Disgruntled Parents,
We have taken notice of you displeasure with our Christmas program. So we have made some decisions that I hope will meet with your approval.
First, we have surveyed the religious beliefs of the parents of our students, and we have learned that 75% of them relate to one Christian faith, or another. Since our schools are funded by taxation, it is clear that 75% of our school is paid for by those of a Christian faith. In order to make it equal, we will now expect you to pick up 50% of the cost of our school since you feel you no longer want to be in the minority. Yes, we understand that your tax burden will be greater than others, but it will give you an equal voice due to the dollar amount that will be expected from you.
Secondly, since you surely agree with our Constitutional system of government, we are now going to allow our students to elect representitives. Those student representitives will submit songs for our program, and will be voted on, one vote to one representative. The songs with the largest number of votes will be in the program.
If these new arrangements don’t meet with your approval, that too, is fine. The Christian families have assured me that they will no longer send their children to this school, and will demand that Montana change the laws to allow the tax money to follow the child, not the school district. Children who are then enrolled into alternate schools (be they private or parochial) will reap the benefit of the per student tax revenue that now comes to this school. Consequently, if 75% of the students are withdrawn from Chief Charlo Elementary, we will have no option but to close the school, that is, unless you want to bear the entire financial burder of the school.
Sincerely yours,
The Principal
P.S. Since we understand that you would not want to be thought of as cowards who sneak around making threats against the other taxpayers of this city, we will be publishing your names. We understand that some Christian faiths believe in the practice of shunning, and we will regret any discomfort that might cause you. We will also expect you who own business, be they cafes or Dollar Stores, to remain open while Christians celebrate their special day. Any of you who work for the City of Missoula will also be expected to be on the job that day because we understand that you will not want to inconvience anyone who is not celebrating Christmas by you not being on the job on December 25th.
