Twitchy:
As Twitchy reported this morning, President Obama took the occasion of the National Prayer Breakfast to declare ISIS a “brutal, vicious death cult,” as well as to remind the nation of the violence done by Christians during the Crusades, albeit quite a few years earlier.
Fox News analyst and “Red Eye” favorite Jedediah Bila would prefer the president focus on what’s going on in the present, where the threat of Islamic terrorism is a going concern.
Only Obama would bring up events from 800 and 500 years ago while refusing to accurately acknowledge what’s happening right now.

@JedediahBila Really getting worried about his disconnect with reality. Getting worse and worse by the day.

One of the things most people are unaware of abut ”the Crusades,” is that it was a belated and weak reaction to the jihads of that day.
But more important than that, back then Christians had to take the word of a Latin-reading clergy class to explain to them what the Bible said.
It wasn’t until Guttenberg that the Bible was mass produced, then it was later still before it was mass produced in European languages!
Today all Muslims are forced to ”study” the koran in Arabic, which they then memorize.
BUT, for the vast majority, they are repeating jibberish they don’t understand as Arabic is NOT their own language.
So, to this day, non-Arabic speaking Muslims are taking the word of a cleric class for what the koran says.
Most Muslims have to take their word for it that these clerics aren’t lying to them.
It would be revolutionary today for Muslims to be able to read their korans in their own languages and figure out for themselves how to live.
Brian Williams gave Obama a first hand account of the cruelty of the Christians during the Crusades.
@Nanny:
Dr. Thomas Madden, of the University of St. Louis, and a leading historian of the Crusades, wrote:
“For starters, the Crusades to the East were in every way defensive wars. They were a direct response to Muslim aggression — an attempt to turn back or defend against Muslim conquests of Christian lands.
Christians in the eleventh century were not paranoid fanatics. Muslims really were gunning for them. While Muslims can be peaceful, Islam was born in war and grew the same way. From the time of Mohammed, the means of Muslim expansion was always the sword. Muslim thought divides the world into two spheres, the Abode of Islam and the Abode of War. Christianity — and for that matter any other non-Muslim religion — has no abode. Christians and Jews can be tolerated within a Muslim state under Muslim rule. But, in traditional Islam, Christian and Jewish states must be destroyed and their lands conquered. When Mohammed was waging war against Mecca in the seventh century, Christianity was the dominant religion of power and wealth. As the faith of the Roman Empire, it spanned the entire Mediterranean, including the Middle East, where it was born. The Christian world, therefore, was a prime target for the earliest caliphs, and it would remain so for Muslim leaders for the next thousand years.”
Then, as now, Christian based nations (the west) were on the defensive against Islam.
As to the Inquisitions; if you add up the entire number of those killed by their Inquisitors, including in the nations of France, Italy and Spain, the number barely matches the number of people slaughtered by 19 Muslims on September 11, 2001. The number of Europeans killed at the hands of the Inquisitors has been, and continues to be, greatly exaggerated. One historian even reported the number to be in the area of 95 million, a strong impossibility when you consider the population of the four nations of that time period.
Our president tried to make a moral equivalency, building a straw man argument, for the horror that is ISIS and other fundamentalist Islamic groups. And while I believe that Obama is an agnostic, it is clear that he has a propensity to favor Islam culturally, if not religiously. His book, Dreams Of My Father, shows how anti-colonialist Obama is, a philosophy gleaned from his father who was also a rabid anti-colonialist. In his mind, the Muslims are victims of colonialism, and have a right to be angry at the Great Satan and the Little Satan. His reference to slavery also ignores two things: a) a great portion of the abolitionists were devout Christians and b) Muslims continue to practice slavery, taking slaves from nations where the people have the same skin tone he does.
Using the actions of humans from events from a thousand years ago is a weak excuse to not address current events. Obama is basically excusing the actions of ISIS because, he wrongly claims, Muslims were oppressed by Christians when swords were the latest technology in assault weapons.
His comments at the Prayer Breakfast were not the first time that Obama has tried to use a moral equivalency to excuse his inactions against the greatest threat this nation has ever seen.
Lots of straw in that straw man speech. I’ll generalize and paraphrase. The Crusades were mostly defensive in nature. The Inquisition( most notable in Spain ) was political and a purge of Moors and other so called heretics. The Borgian Popes and their reign from hell. Later came the Reformatiom and Counterreformation. The Catholics had to clean things up.Republicans were the true abolitionists and mostly Christian. The Democratic Party pushed Jim Crow Laws and the KKK. Remember that the KKK wanted to eliminate Catholics, Jews, and Christian slave lovers. I cannot believe the Revisionism, Banality, and Condescention of this “prayer breakfast”. The Private meeting was all about damage control for the terrible optics done in the name of Islam. how’s that for a summary?
@oil guy from Alberta: I think that the days that rational people believe Obama are long over. Only those who can not have original thought actually believe what he says.
