A Prominent Republican is joining a prominent Democrat in predicting that Gov. Cuomo will become President Obama’s running mate for vice president next year.
Former New York GOP boss William Powers, credited with playing a key role in electing Rudy Giuliani mayor and George Pataki governor, was effusive in his praise of Cuomo’s successes in the just-ended legislative session, and in his prediction of the freshman governor’s political future.
“Andrew had a fabulous session. It was fabulous. A property-tax cap, ethics reform and, for Democrats, gay marriage,” said Powers.
“I don’t think there’s any doubt Obama is going to pick him as his running mate. The president is in trouble and [Vice President Joseph] Biden doesn’t bring anything to his ticket.
“The president will call him up later this year and say, ‘Andrew, you have to do this for the good of the country.’ What’s Andrew going to say, ‘No?’ ”
Cuomo, who saw a flurry of predictions last week in the wake of the gay-marriage victory that he’ll run for president in 2016, has repeatedly refused to discuss the possibility of higher office.
Believe it when I see it. Then again, who knows what will be done in a desperate bid to get re-elected.
I suspect that you’ve got it bass ackwards, and that the Obama Administration is trying to save face in advance with smoke and mirrors to conceal the fact that actually Joe Biden has become so disgusted and disenchanted with the Obama Administration that, out of loyalty to the party, he won’t resign now, but he has decided that he has no intention of running for a second term with those chronic screw-ups in the Obama Administration, who have repeatedly betrayed him and impuned him.
It has been sleazy, two-faced, back-stabbing people in Obama’s inner circle who have been viciously portraying Joe as a flake and a dummy, which he isn’t. Actually, Joe is a pretty good guy, and he is smart, savvy and ethical, and probably the only sane member of the Obama Administration, and BTW, he is a moderate, not a liberal, who was, I suspect, selected to be VP by the DNC to be a moderating influence on Obama, only to find that the DNC reneged on their promises and their reassurances to him, and they betrayed him, and he was marginalized by unscrupulous extremists like, Obama, Holder, Clinton, Panetta, Napolidumbo and Geithner. That was predictable. But I don’t think that he saw it coming, blinded by his loyalty to the Party.
No, he isn’t being canned. He is refusing to run again. I’m positive of that. They’re just saying that to save face and to cover their asses. Old Joe has been betrayed and sold out by people to whom he was loyal. Too bad. It’s kind of sad. Joe is a laid-back, humble, good, decent man, who, incidentally, has always been, either out in front, or from behind the scenes, a “hawk”, who has always supported whatever it has taken to defend this country against its enemies, both foreign and domestic. He has always been highly admired and highly respected by politicians and their staffs in Congress from both sidea of the aisle. I’m sorry to see his distinguished career end this way. He deserves to be honored for his highly commendable service to our country.
Poor Joe. He is such a decent man, and he is such a rigid opponent of anti-Semitism and racism in all of its forms that, imho, his view of the forest was blocked by the trees, and he failed to see that, with their sulleness, surliness, belligerence and intimidations, the Black Caucus and their socialist, extremely liberal white sycophants both in and out of Congress have taken over control of the Democratic Party, and that fool, Al Sharpton, has become the new face of their party, and men of honor, patriotism and integrity like Biden are being discarded, much to the detriment of this country. It’s disconcerting that Obama, the most divisive and the most incompetent president in the history of this country is held in higher esteem by Democrats than conscientious, fine men like Joe Biden.
That would give the democrats a ready-made candidate for 2016–and almost as sure a win as if Hilary Clinton were to run.
Hillary has gotten a free ride on Bill’s coat tails as far as she is going to go. She accomplished nothing as New York’s Senator, and her incompetence as Secretary Of State has completely destabilized the entire Middle East. She is all talk, no action, all hat, no cattle, in way over her head and out of her depth. But then, hmmmm, you know, those are just the qualifications that Democrats want for their president, fools just like themselves.
