Remember that dumb cowboy George W. Bush, who alienated all our allies and dragged us into wars of choice in the Mideast? And remember that goofball Mitt Romney, whom Joe Biden a year ago accused of wanting to go to war in Syria?
Both of them must be having a big laugh over the way things are going for Obama now. When I wrote last week on our bumbling Syria diplomacy, it seemed that things couldn’t possibly go further downhill. Boy, was I wrong.
Last week, it seemed our only ally was France. But now the French are having second thoughts. Obama’s efforts to get support at the G20 conference came to nothing. Even the pope is undercutting him.
Meanwhile, at home, polls show Americans are against a strike, and Obama is facing double-digit defections among Democrats in the Senate. The outlook for passage in the House, meanwhile, looks so bad that a resolution to authorize war may not even make it to a vote. If it’s sure to fail, why force members — Republicans and Democrats alike — to go on record? You can bet they don’t appreciate Obama putting them in this position. The Pentagon isn’t happy, and even The Atlantic’s Ta-Nehisi Coates, a reliable Obama supporter, calls his policy “dumb.”
Some critics are even comparing the collapse of American influence under Obama to the end of the Soviet Union. Well, that may be an exaggeration — but Obama promised a “fundamental transformation,” after all.
More from Glenn at USA Today
From an economic and political position, this country resembles the Soviet Union at its collapse. Clapper, as DNI, has screwed up intelligence so badly. The “golden nugget” of intelligence gathered by the nsa and cia will be minimal. The hypocracy of the current congress is nauseating. The recent concessions my mccaine to reid on congrssional appts. is criminal. The fool from ohio was unable to keep a job of any kind.
The 5x alledged purple heart kerry is still beating the war drum.
The world has stopped listening to the fool and to America. By 2025 America will be a third world power.
Undersand that the fool will pull the trigger and start WWIII. Nearly 75,000 troops are on stand by with order to mobalize for the invasion of Syria.
This fool does not care-he will start WWIII.
MOS: I agree. Who are these people that still support BHO? Are they completely uninformed?
Zombies!
Now even Assad is pushing Obama around!
Assad tells Obama to stop arming rebels, or no deal.

President Obama must promise not to arm rebel forces or Syrian dictator Bashar Assad will not hand over his chemical weapons, the embattled leader told a Russian state media outlet today. “When we see that the U.S. genuinely stands for stability in our region, stops threatening us with military intervention and stops supplying terrorists with weapons, then we will consider it possible to finalize all necessary procedures and they will become legitimate and acceptable for Syria,” Assad told RIA News. Obama asked Congress to postpone a vote authorizing use of military force…..
Oh and Assad also UPPED the ante!
He added a demand that Israel also surrender its nuclear arsenal.
Talk about feeling your oats!
Obama pwns once again. Deal with it.
@This one: Not doubt Obama planned this too

LOL
I am reminded of obama finally authorizing the surge in Afghanistan after several months. He evidently hadn’t been talking with his military, because he found out that the military can’t just put people on planes and ships and have theme there the next day. The logistics of supplying those sent over had to be figured out first. What would be needed? Do we have enough? If not, how long will it take to get enough? How will we get it there?
The military has had to change their plans over 50 times now, because obama keeps changing things, or things keep changing. How much did it cost us to prepare for a strike that we probably won’t do? The only good thing I see coming out of this mess is that the Russian newspaper said that Putin made a monkey out of obama. This is what I said on another post:
Can’t you see Putin grinding away at his organ, and the obama monkey in his cute outfit, and wearing his little hat, going around to the different people gathered around, and the obama monkey taking his hat off and asking the people to put something in it? I can see a toy coming for Christmas. It will come with Putin at the organ, but you can put any action figure behind the organ, and the obama monkey will be working for it. You would also be able to buy different faces to put in place of Putin. You could also have them make a custom face for you, so that YOU will have the obama monkey working for you. If anybody makes it, remember I get part of the royalties for coming up with the idea, and PLEASE DON’T HAVE IT MADE IN CHINA!
@This one: Another clueless day for you.
@This one:
You are too stupid to understand how much Obama has weakened US credibility in the world. You will fully deserve whatever misery comes your way for being such an incredibly ignorant fool.
Lifted from Charles Krauthammer’s article.
That “strike Syria, maybe” speech begins with a heart-rending account of children consigned to a terrible death by a monster dropping poison gas. It proceeds to explain why such behavior must be punished. It culminates with the argument that the proper response — the most effective way to uphold fundamental norms, indeed human decency — is a flea bite: something “limited,” “targeted” or, as so memorably described by Secretary of State John Kerry, “unbelievably small.”
The mind reels, but there’s more. We must respond — but not yet. This “Munich moment” (Kerry again) demands first a pause to find accommodation with that very same toxin-wielding monster, by way of negotiations with his equally cynical, often shirtless, Kremlin patron bearing promises.
The promise is to rid Syria of its chemical weapons. The negotiations are open-ended. Not a word from President Obama about any deadline or ultimatum. And utter passivity: Kerry said hours earlier that he awaited the Russian proposal.
Why? The administration claims (preposterously, but no matter) that Obama has been working on this idea with Putin at previous meetings. Moreover, the idea was first publicly enunciated by Kerry, even though his own State Department immediately walked it back as a slip of the tongue.
Take at face value Obama’s claim of authorship. Then why isn’t he taking ownership? Why isn’t he calling it the “U.S. proposal” and defining it? Why not issue a U.S. plan containing the precise demands, detailed timeline and threat of action should these conditions fail to be met?
@This one:
Yeah, he’s frigging awesome. He’s also the perfect example of what happens when an “academic” faces real life. It would be hilarious if it weren’t our country.
Even the left is starting to abandon Obama. Chris Matthews and Dana Milbank were actually nostalgic for Bush:
Now Assad is making demands. Guess that pin prick diplomacy isn’t working out for dear leader.
And to think some here believe Obama has been working on this issue with Russia for a year.
Laughable.
This administration seems to be Carter II. Carter diminished the respect given to the United States like no one in our history. Obama seems to want to try to bump Carter from that distinction. The sad part is he is succeeding in that endeavor. Even John Kennedy was not such a hapless fool with the Bay of Pigs fiasco.
It will take another Reagan in 2016 to reinstate the respect the United States commands.
Paul Krugman is lamenting how only the 1% is getting any of the pie now. Odd, he just knew that Obama was going to “spread the wealth” by punishing the productive and rewarding the non-productive. He knew that we would have some Socialist utopia by the end of Obama’s first term. So how does he excuse the rich are getting richer under Obama? It’s all GWB’s fault, doncha know?
