Another case of intervening in another State’s affairs – without consulting Congress – and choosing between supporting the devil, or the spawn of the devil….

US President Barack Obama has said he is sending about 100 US soldiers to Uganda to help regional forces battle the notorious Lord’s Resistance Army.

Although combat-equipped, the troops would be providing information and advice “to partner nation forces”, Mr Obama wrote in a letter to US Congress.

A small group is already in Uganda, and the troops could later be deployed in other central African nations.

The LRA is blamed for mass murder, rape and kidnapping in the region.

‘Kill or capture’

“I have authorized a small number of combat-equipped US forces to deploy to central Africa to provide assistance to regional forces that are working toward the removal of (LRA leader) Joseph Kony from the battlefield,” Mr Obama wrote on Friday.

But he stressed that “although the US forces are combat-equipped… they will not themselves engage LRA forces unless necessary for self-defence”.

Mr Obama did not provide any details about the deployment duration, but a US military spokesman later told the BBC that the “forces are prepared to stay as long as necessary to enable regional security forces to carry on independently”.

This could get messy extremely quick. Its like asking for more trouble on our plate when there is no more room. I missed this one compeltely.

Oh, the irony!
Today it leaked that we will only have 60 American soldiers in all of Iraq by Jan of 2012!
But who knows how many soldiers we will have in Uganda.

@Nan G: As a former Battalion commander operating from the port of Jubail, SA during the Gulf War, we universally noted that we would be back within a decade. Oops, missed it by 2 years. Later as a recalled, retired Marine to support OIF from 2005~2006, the same prediction is once again made. Within 10 years we will be back in Iraq and this time not against the inept Saddam Hussein. As soon as the proxy Iranian government of Iraq rearms to terrorize the rest of the Middle East, “We’ll be back”. The only problem is this time it’ll be Iragran for all intents and purposes.

As far as Africa is concerned, this is just a continuation of the Muslim opposition removal effort from our very on MICOTUS. Lets see, white aggressor soldiers from the Great Satan, we are here to help you? It will go over well? (NOT!)

My only concern is that it will be my grandson that has to fix this mess while his obummerness sits on a shaded veranda in his new immigrant home of Hawaii. In 25 years this will all be factually documented for the sake of posterity.

Sounds like another Viet Nam. Oh! Only 60 but my news media said 100. Thar is a 40 man difference. Where did they go? I can equate this to another Hollywood box sensation. Yo, John Wayne where are?Smile America..screwed again and where was congressional approval for his operation?

IT seems to be a pattern he follow , every time he get disapproved for what bill he want to pass and find that even some DEMS REFUSE TO ENDORSE IT,
WELL just check that, he send a few millitaries to hell zone, and put their life in danger,
because of the scattering of them around the haters,
that is the worse thing to disperse an ARMY ,
who will talk for the soldiers? not after they are killed, but now,
100 is not enough even less 6o but it help OBAMA ‘S FRUSTRATIONS, FROM THE SENAT NOT VOTING HIS BILL.
