The 63-foot Sierra White Fir lighted at the U.S. Capitol Grounds on Dec. 6 as the official 2011 Capitol Christmas Tree includes a prominently displayed ornament paying homage to President Barack Obama, but includes no ornament readily visible to a person standing near the tree’s base that uses the word “Christmas,” or includes an image of the Nativity, or bears the name or image of Jesus Christ.
On the north side of the tree–at a height of about 4 feet and easily visible to people standing near it—there is an ornament that says: “I ♥ President Obama.”
When asked whether the tree included any ornaments that mention or depict Christmas or the birth of Jesus, the office of the Architect of the Capitol, which is responsible for the tree, told CNSNews.com that it “does not have a policy nor any restrictions concerning the themes for the ornaments” that go on the tree. The office could not say, however, whether or not this year’s Christmas tree does in fact include even a single ornament that directly references or depicts Christmas or Christ.

Because, this tree Obama set up at the U.S. Capitol Grounds on Dec. 6 is a larger more crappy version of the crap tree.
It is ”decorated” with TRASH!!!!
Used pie tins.
Used styrofoam cups.
Used straws and so on.
In a way I am pleased that it (for the vastly largest part) avoids any hint of Christian or Christmas imagry.
*(Dave’s “crap tree” is simply decorated with cool stuff his wife didn’t want on her ”formal” Christmas tree.)

How much more of an expression of Christmas spirit and support for U.S. service members and their families could anyone expect from a U.S. President and his or her family?
I would ask whether the Christmas tree had any ornaments that depicting a pagan deity–since this symbol, and in fact the date the celebration of Christmas itself, was taken from pagan rites (not the actual birth of Jesus, which neither history nor mythology documents).

While it is debated up and down exactly what was said about Jesus…it is fairly clear that Josephus wrote *something* about him…and absolutely clear that he wrote about John the Baptist (the concept of dissimilarity.)
Anyway, if you are demanding multiple attestations (oh another cool keyword you may want to learn the meaning of) then you are also barking up the wrong historical tree. While attestations are a criterion, they are not a basis to determine if something occurred historically, surviving records of all types being a relatively haphazard way to attest.
Contrary to your viewpoint, there is ample evidence that there is enough history to back up the existence of *a* Jesus…him being *the* Jesus, Son of God, or simply a “run of the mill” itinerant prophet of some form…there is enough smoke to say the man existed.
There is a fascinating look at the historical Jesus is Mark Allan Powell’s book “Jesus As a Figure in History: How Modern Historians View the Man from Galilee” — I’d suggest you wash the patchouli stank from your hair and put on your Birkenstocks, march on down to B&N or the Library and read it for free for your own edification.
I guess it takes someone like Terence P. Jeffrey, who really understands the true meaning of Christmas, to use the holiday as a vehicle for attacking the President of the United States.

The Obama’s official White House holiday greeting cards have not even mentioned Christmas or Jesus or shown a tree.
In point of fact, last year the Obama’s holiday card featured an image of a White House covered with snow.
This year it shows Bo by a raging fireplace (too close?) and again no mention of Christmas or Jesus.
Ex-Social Secretary Desiree Rogers. told a gathering of former social secretaries that the Obamas did not intend on putting the Nativity scene on display in their 1st White House Christmas.
In 2008 then-Sen. Barack Obama (D-Ill.) told People magazine that he and his wife, Michelle, do not give Christmas presents to their daughters.
