Fr. John Zuhlsdorf:

Another example of what this man wants: total isolation of any religious values in the private sphere alone. Pres. Obama is working either to intimidate or legislate or even TAX religious freedom out of the public square.

US president undermines Catholic schools after Vatican Prefect praised them
The US President has made an alarming call for an end to Catholic education in Northern Ireland in spite of the fact that Archbishop Gerhard Müller told Scots that Catholic education was ‘a critical component of the Church.’

President Barack Obama (above), repeated the oft disproved claim that Catholic education increases division in front of an audience of 2000 young people, including many Catholics, at Belfast’s Waterfront hall when he arrived in the country this morning.

“If towns remain divided—if Catholics have their schools and buildings and Protestants have theirs, if we can’t see ourselves in one another and fear or resentment are allowed to harden—that too encourages division and discourages cooperation,” the US president said.  [And this is his business… how?  Trick question.  It isn’t.  It is part of an agenda he has for the public square in the USA.  He is trying to destroy conservative institutions.]

…Off the top of my head, I can’t think of a foreign visit to a Islamic nation where he told people on his arrival that they shouldn’t have madrasas. Can you?

The comrade obama image reminded me that there are only two leaders who had their own logo: Hitler and obama. Is obama using Hitler’s recipe book? What is he cooking up?

When an organization or a country wants to overthrow another country, what do they try to do first? Get people away from the Christian and Jewish religions (why only these?), have a state controlled education system, get as many people as possible on a government check, and take their guns. It worked for Hitler and many others who are dictators now. Compare these things to what is going on in the USA now.

What a difference 5 years make: Obama braves blistering Berlin heat to make speech before invite-only crowd of 4,500 (that’s 195,500 FEWER than last time he was in Germany)

The most important words here is “invite-only crowd.” Really? stacking audiences even overseas? Is Obama’s ego so delicate that he can only stand to speak before crowds who are mostly made up of supporters (or those who don’t dare display vocal dissent)?

Thinking back on it, Yes he is that much of a fawning-fans obsessed, narcissistic, prima-donna. We have seen how poorly he handles public event when there are boos and or protestors. We have seen how he stumbles and fumbles and get’s testy when the script isn’t there, or the teleprompter malfunctions.

obama’s speech must have been great. Chris Mathews liked it. LOL

Obama’s comments today in Berlin about ‘breaking down the walls’ come tinged with irony as the President delivered his remarks behind thick walls of bullet-proof glass.

The safety measure has been a constant presence throughout his presidency when he makes appearances in large public spaces.

The last time that Obama spoke to 200,000 people in Berlin, there was no safety glass – but then, he was not yet president.

It was put up at his victory speech in November 2008, when Obama and family waved to supporters behind the two-inch thick walls. Since then, it has been in constant use.

The reported $100million cost of Obama’s trip to Africa this month includes three trucks with sheets of bulletproof glass – some of which will be used to cover hotel windows.

Really? A friendly, invited-only audience and Obama still felt he needed a wall of bullet proof glass? Maybe it was to keep him from being rushed by a love-struck leg humping from Chris Mathews.

You made me try to look at it from the INVITED’S point of view. Could they be wondering, “If obama trusts us so much that he INVITED us here to hear him speak, why does he need the wall between us. Shouldn’t the wall be behind us? obama, tear down this wall!”
