No healthcare questions at Obama presser

President Barack Obama sustained an hour-long press conference today without a single question about his signature healthcare law and the glitches that continue to plague the insurance exchanges — a point that frustrated several conservatives.

“Explain to me how in a dozen questions the second biggest story of the week, the healthcare.gov debacle, doesn’t even come up,” Brendan Buck, the press secretary for House Speaker John Boehner, asked in an email to POLITICO.

“Questions from WH press corps are pathetic,” Brit Hume, the Fox News analyst tweeted. “As of this moment, not a single tough or challenging inquiry.”

The criticism invited some blowback form Democrats, including former Obama speechwriter Jon Favreau, who tweeted, “Hey Republicans, maybe they’d ask about Obamacare if you didn’t do such a great job pushing that shutdown for no discernible reason message.”

Similarly, Slate’s Dave Weigel wrote: “Hey, maybe the press would have asked some Obamacare glitch questions if there wasn’t a giant f–king shutdown happening.”

“Oh please,” Michael Goldfarb, the neoconservative provacateur and founder of FreeBeacon.com, replied, “reporters should do (their) job well if they don’t want to be ridiculed as the stooges they are.”

Because there has been no debacle, you effin’ idiot. There have been very obvious problems with the computer software and data exchange systems during the week of the initial roll-out. Over the next few weeks and months those problems will be corrected.

The press is not in Obama’s pocket simply because it isn’t carrying the right wing propaganda message.

@Greg:

You might expect a real press corps to inquire into the question of why, after spending a reported 650 million dollars on a computer system over three plus years, the resulting product was described as having “DDOSed itself.” You’ve apparently never experienced a media which was even moderately neutral.

You might consider avoiding the name-calling lest you be considered a sniveling little left-wing prick.

@DaNang67, #2:

Systems so large and complex seldom function well the moment you bring them online.

The Pentagon has routinely squandered billions on contractor overruns and dead end project development without republicans raising an eyebrow. The F-35 fighter program has already cost $400 BILLION—70% over budget—without delivering what was promised. After spending another $80 BILLION on the F-22 fighter program, we’ve got very little to show for it. Where’s the outrage on the right about that?

You might want to consider the possibility that the patience of reasonable people with a mob of nut cases passing for a political movement is beginning to wear just a wee bit thin.

Actually, you really wouldn’t expect a lapdog press to ask anything that might be embarrassing to the Admin. We’ve grown accustomed to the inadequateness of the persons on the Dimocrat side of the government, so asking why they’re dumb is not so politically correct. Besides, we already know the answer.

Greg, when the Dims are running the government, it is unnecessary to ask about incompetence. We all understand.

At least Jake Tapper is willing to admit the mainstream media is bias’d.
