Things are back to normal in Detroit

DETROIT — General Motors Co. said on Friday that it is recalling more than 4,000 of its 2012 Chevrolet Sonic subcompact cars to check for missing brake pads.

The possibility that some Sonics could be missing an inner or outer brake pad was discovered during warranty service for a rental vehicle customer. GM said the problem “is expected to exist in very few cars,” and there are no known crashes or injuries related to the issue. A missing pad could require longer stopping distance, and contribute to a crash.

The recall involves 4,296 of GM’s 2012 Sonics sold in the U.S. The affected models are from the Orion Township, Mich., assembly plant, where the Sonic is built for sale in the U.S. and Canada.

Dealers will inspect the front brakes for missing inner or outer pads and, if a pad is missing, install new pads. If needed, a new brake caliper or brake rotor, or both, will also be installed. Affected customers will receive dealer letters beginning Jan. 14.

The union workers must have been too busy spending their bonuses
to worry about things like brakes.

Can you imagine the outrage if this was an issue for Lexus or Honda? The MSM would be having a cow on the air. Of course when it’s Government Motors then no real news issue at all. Disgusting and you wonder where did the wasted $830Billion go?? So do I because it sure didn’t go to help America!!

@Common Sense:

Good point, Common Sense.
When GM and Chrysler were struggling even with our taxpayer bailout money, Obama forced Toyota to have a HUGE multi-model recall over what was an imaginary issue of unintended acceleration.
Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood chimed in with the truth: “The reason Toyota decided to do the recall and to stop manufacturing is we asked them to.”

Obama’s union buddies in Detroit make shoddy cars.
It is a fact.
Leaving out the brake pads?
Who is surprised?
We’ve seen these guys drink and smoke and snort their lunch.

No big deal. Brake pads just a luxury option that can wait a month to be installed.

There needs to be a Congressional hearing over this (spit)

That is, of course, the problem with Congress.
No brake pads.
No stopping power.
No one can stop spending.
We need a total replacement of all 435 members of the House, all 100 members of the Senate, and the entire Administration.
Ugh.

I’m going to guess that brakes were an option that wasn’t selected. After all, we don’t care if cars stop, just as long as they’re crash worthy. And given some of the rolling coffins on the road today I’ve got my doubts about that.
