A blind squirrel finds a nut, and a liberal meme dies a painful death
All right! With that out of the way: Jacob Fischler obtains a letter from Koch PR to senators, informing them that the famous billionaires did not actually want a government shutdown. “There was false information presented about Koch on the Senate floor by Senate Majority Leader Reid, who claimed yesterday that Koch was behind the shutdown of the federal government in an effort to defund the Affordable Care Act,” writes Philip Ellender in the letter. “Koch has not taken a position on the legislative tactic of tying the continuing resolution to defunding Obamacare nor have we lobbied on legislative provisions defunding Obamacare.”
Where did Reid’s claim come from? Like Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders, Reid has leaned on a weekend New York Times story, published on A1, that claimed the Kochs played a major role in the plotting of the Obamacare defunding-or-bust campaign.

No, the Koch boys aren’t behind the government shutdown. Who would imagine such a thing? They only provided millions of dollars to the political organizations and politicians that planned, promoted, and executed the strategy.
Baloney.

@This one:
Apparently Weigel has more sense.
Every now and then I mean. The Koch’s would be harmed by a drop in the stock market.
“This one” is a nothing more than a paid troll. I guess burger flipping is too complicated for him.
@Greg:
Yeah and Soros is pulling the strings on puppet Obama.
@Greg:
Yeah, whatever, Greg. Do you have any heartburn over Soros dumping millions to fund anti-American leftist political organizations? You remember – Soros….the guy who made money with the nazis off the deaths of jews?
In a free society, the left doesn’t get to silence the opposition….which is why the left inherently doesn’t want free societies to exist. It gets in the way of the leftist forcing everyone to do what they want.
@Pete, #6:
The openly right equates money with free speech. The right wants to remove all limits on how much an individual or a corporation (which they equate with a person) can spend to influence public opinion and buy more political power.
If they abandon that pro-plutocracy position and stop genuflecting before the dollar sign, they might be in a position to complain about Soros. Until they do, mentioning him is nothing more than hypocrisy.
