New paper tells climate scientists how to fudge the numbers supporting overheated climate models

The Hockey Schtick:

A paper published today in Geophysical Research Letters demonstrates how climate scientists can fudge the numbers of the so-called “basic physics” and “settled science” of climate change. According to the authors, “Estimates of the Earth’s equilibrium climate sensitivity (ECS) [to CO2] from 20th-century observations predict a lower ECS than estimates from climate models, paleoclimate data, and interannual variability.” Indeed, 20th century observations show the climate is less sensitive to CO2 changes than the models indicate, therefore the physics incorporated into the models is incorrect.

The authors claim based on 20th century observations that ECS is “2.3 K…, near the bottom of the IPCC’s likely range of 1.5-4.5 K.” But, no worries, the authors state all we have to do is fudge the forcing from aerosols and ozone by increasing their “efficacy” 33% greater: “Increasing the aerosol and ozone efficacy to 1.33 [instead of 1.0] increases the ECS to 3.0 K (1.9-6.8 K), a value in excellent agreement with other estimates. Forcing efficacy therefore provides a way to bridge the gap between the different estimates of ECS.”

Folks, this is just plain cheating & fudging. One Watt per meter squared forcing from CO2 is the same as 1 Watt per meter squared forcing from aerosols or ozone, not 1.33 Watts per meter squared. You can’t just multiply selected forcings by a 1.33 fudge factor to make observations “bridge the gap” with overheated climate models.

The co-author of this paper Andrew Dessler has a long and sordid history of making highly questionable assertions in support of the climate scam, and this is yet another blatant example.

This is exactly what the “climate gate” emails were about. The data has been so skewed by “scientific” fudging. Several sources believes there is no longer a record of the initial temperature readings. If the data has to be “tortured” for it to reveal what the APG people want, it is not valid data.

Climate change is real, undeniable, and completely irrelevant.

So, we ”need” $50 a gallon jet fuel made from algae instead of $3 a gallon jet fuel.
And we NEED to destroy fish with sea-based wind farms that screw up their electromagnetic signals they use in detecting prey, also disturbing fish migration patterns.
Fudging numbers isn’t going to end well.
These halcion days of Al gore and his acolytes will be looked back on with a quizzical, ”what were we thinking?” expression.

Former NASA Scientist: Global Warming is Nonsense

Professor Woodcock told the Yorkshire Evening Post:

“The term ‘climate change’ is meaningless. The Earth’s climate has been changing since time immemorial, that is since the Earth was formed 1,000 million years ago. The theory of ‘man-made climate change’ is an unsubstantiated hypothesis [about] our climate [which says it] has been adversely affected by the burning of fossil fuels in the last 100 years, causing the average temperature on the earth’s surface to increase very slightly but with disastrous environmental consequences.

“The theory is that the CO2 emitted by burning fossil fuel is the ‘greenhouse gas’ causes ‘global warming’ – in fact, water is a much more powerful greenhouse gas and there is 20 time more of it in our atmosphere (around one per cent of the atmosphere) whereas CO2 is only 0.04 per cent.

“There is no reproducible scientific evidence CO2 has significantly increased in the last 100 years.”

He also said:

“Even the term ‘global warming’ does not mean anything unless you give it a time scale. The temperature of the earth has been going up and down for millions of years, if there are extremes, it’s nothing to do with carbon dioxide in the atmosphere, it’s not permanent and it’s not caused by us. Global warming is nonsense.”

Professor Woodcock dismissed evidence for global warming, such as the floods that deluged large parts of Britain this winter, as “anecdotal” and therefore meaningless in science.

“Events can happen with frequencies on all time scales in the physics of a chaotic system such as the weather. Any point on lowland can flood up to a certain level on all time scales from one month to millions of years and it’s completely unpredictable beyond around five days.”

Also, the only reason we regularly hear that we have had the most extreme weather “since records began” is that records only began about 100 years ago.
