Washington Examiner:

Homeland Security Secretary John Kelly issued two memos on Tuesday aimed at implementing President Trump‘s immigration-related executive orders, which call for strict enforcement of U.S. immigration laws and the hiring of thousands of new border officials.

Kelly’s memos include guidance about where the agency stands in the process of building Trump’s border wall, instructions to hire 5,000 additional border patrol agents, and to meet the president’s demand for more rigorous enforcement of existing laws. Kelly also called on Immigration and Customs Enforcement to hire 10,000 new officials to handle the increased enforcement activity.

The memos, issued to members of the Department of Homeland Security, explain how officials are to execute Trump’s orders.

A major component of the memos involve instructions to end “catch-and-release” policies that allow undocumented immigrants to remain free while awaiting a hearing on their legal status in the country.

“[I]f an immigration officer determines that an arriving alien is inadmissible to the United States” under existing laws, “the officer shall, consistent with all applicable laws, order the alien removed from the United States without further hearing or review,” Kelly wrote in the memo. The homeland security secretary laid out several exceptions to the policy, such as in the event the undocumented immigrant is an unaccompanied child, is applying for asylum in the U.S. or claims to have U.S. citizenship.

Kelly called on state and local law enforcement officers to support enforcement activity, instructing high-level officials within DHS to “engage immediately with all willing and qualified law enforcement jurisdictions” to coordinate immigration enforcement.

“Empowering state and local law enforcement agencies to assist in the enforcement of federal immigration law is critical to an effective enforcement strategy,” Kelly wrote in one of the memos.

Time to close the border break up the 9th circus court and can that idiot seattle judge

@Spurwing Plover: I was thinking that as well.

Will the buffoon Seattle judge tell President Trump that he can not hire border personal.

I especially like the portion of the directive that completely ends funding on behalf of illegals to assist them.

The funding has been re-directed to the formation of a new element of ICE.

The new office is designed to assist victims of illegal crimes. A much better use of assets.
