Tom Maguire:

Dan Abrams of ABC News tries to steer the legacy media home to reality on the Zimmerman case:

Analysis: George Zimmerman Probably Won’t Be Convicted of Murder or Manslaughter — Here’s Why

Folks who have made an effort to understand the case and the law will find nothing new here. But Lizette Alvarez of the Times makes a bit of a stab at similar attempt to manage expectations:

For supporters of the Martin family, Mr. Martin’s death was part of a more complex tale of profiling and injustice.

Just so – what kind of a world are we living in that teenage boys can’t assault annoying people they identify as “creep-ass crackers”?

But this perception has run up against the protocols of a criminal trial and Florida’s expansive self-defense laws. These laws, critics say, give too much leeway to people who say they acted violently because they felt threatened.

In the past two weeks, defense lawyers have chipped away at the prosecution’s case, legal analysts said, raising the possibility of an acquittal. The law in Florida allows for the use of force if someone fears great bodily harm, and prosecutors must prove beyond a reasonable doubt that Mr. Zimmerman did not act in self-defense.

However, the Times is keeping hope alive!

The twists and turns of the case — its weaknesses and legal complications — were not a factor for many supporters of the Martin family, until recently.

“We thought this was an open-and-shut case,” said Mr. Jackson, the pastor in Richmond Heights.

When facts and the law are set aside in favor of The Narrative, sure, many things are open and shut. But I don’t know what to make of this cryptic comment:

The way the media here in Central Florida report, they are pushing for guilty of something. Having followed this from the beginning I am sorry Trayvon is dead, but I feel he was largely responsible for his death.

Old Guy it’s scary to think that if you are attack and use your gun to send the attacker away
they charge you with murder 2, just because you did not let the attacker hurt you, scary indeed,
they want TO neutralize the gun owner his protection,
he would have to be punch and bash so to have a chance to get out of that murder 2,
and go in prison for 15 years and 30 if it’s a young,
what about the one who are not willing or able to fight,
they get to lose their freedom for being attack and not able to fight back,
is THAT THE JUSTICE?

Bees, even if you are perfectly justified in using deadly force to defend yourself, even if you have many, credible witnesses that you had no choice, even if the person you shot had a long record of the most vile and disgusting crimes, you will be in a lot of hot water.
It will cost you an average of $50,000.00 to defend yourself against the criminal’s, or his surviving family’s lawsuit.
Everyone who is willing to use deadly force to defend him/her/self or another should be prepared for this. It will probably happen.

wow that is expansive bullets,
i will think twice before I decide to kill someone.
bye

What’s the old legal phrase?
If the facts are on your side, argue the facts.
If the facts are NOT on your side, argue the law.
If the law is not on your side call the other side names.

The defense, in the Zimmerman case are arguing the facts.
The prosecution is trying to make sure the jury hears ”dirty words” coming from Zimmerman’s phone calls to police dispatch.

Hmmmm….

I HEARD THAT ABOUT THE BIG RUNAWAY TRAIN WHICH CAUGHT FIRE AND DEVASTATED
A WHOLE COMMUNITY, WHERE THERE IS STILL PEOPLE NOT ACCOUNTED FOR,
YOU MUST HAVE HEARD ABOUT IT,
WELL THERE ARE MANY AMERICANS WHO ARE THERE WITH SKILL TO HELP ALL KINDS AND WORK DAY AND NIGHT TO HELP THE PEOPLE, I THINK IT’S VERY KIND OF AMERICANS TO COME TO HELP,
LAST I HEARD THEY ARE PREVENTING THE COMMUNITY TO SEE THE BURN PEOPLE BODYS
SO TO SPARE THEM MORE SADNESS, THEY SEAL THE LOCATION FROM THEM AND SAID YOU HAVE SUFFERED ENOUGH, WE WILL TAKE THAT AND DO WHATEVER IT TAKE OUT OF YOUR HANDS.
THAT IS SUPER KIND AND A BIG APPRECIATION IS FOR THEM FROM MY HEART
AS FROM THE LOCALS IN MOURNING,

the last story is those trains belong to an AMERICAN from CHICAGO,
WHO BUY TRAINS AND ALL KINDS OF THOSE AND LEFT THEM THERE TO STAY,
AND THE BREAKS WHERE NOT AT THE RIGHT STOP, IT START BY A SMALL FIRE IN A BARREL
AMONG MANY OTHER,THE TRAIN START TO MOVE DOWN THE MOUNTAIN AND PICK UP SPEED OF 100 MILES PER HOURS AND THE ONLY DRIVER RAN AWAY AS THE FIRE SPREAD ALL OVER ON THE
SPEEDING TRAIN, IT WAS COMING IN THE MARITIMES TO REFINE AND GO TO MAINE AND OTHER.

THE PROSECUTION STINK FROM THEIR START,

Nan G
they set up many decisions for the verdict of the JURY,
WHO DOES THOSE FOR THE JURY TO DECIDE ON?
IT’S NOT REAL, ALL OF THEM HAS A PRISON TERM,
THEY DO THAT TO MAKE SURE HE GOES TO PRISON,
WHAT DO YOU THINK OF IT?

Any verdict but not guilty is a joke. GZ does not deserve jail time or any penalty for what happened. My opinion is that without the gun, we would be watching a trial of the TM murder of GZ.

@ilovebeeswarzone:
The way the law is in FLA there are 7 possible outcomes to this case.
5 of them are guilty.
1 is not guilty.
1 is hung jury.

Of the 5 guilty chances, one is the charge Zimmerman is being tried on.
Another is a lesser charge of manslaughter.
Then there are other types of causing a death.
Oddly the manslaughter charge carries a longer possible prison term than the 2nd degree murder charge.

Nan G
thank you for the info, am I right to think if he is going in prison,
the O’MARA LAWYER WILL DEMAND A RECALL.

miss FULTON WENT PUBLIC TO CALL GEORGE ZIMMERMAN A CRIMINAL,
If that is not inciting the black criminal , what is?
yes if the law don’t fit her she did change it all by herself to fit her agenda,

I heard that speech and was very surprised. She and others are still pushing “stand your ground” when it was not part of the case. She needs to have a real look at her own son. I am sorry he is dead but I think he is culpable is his own death.
