Erica Ritz @ The Blaze:
Ron Paul chose to forgo the Republican National Convention in Florida this week, speaking instead at the University of South Florida to a group of his own supporters.
Buzzfeed captured video of the remarks, focusing on a segment where Ron Paul claimed that, had his people been in charge, thousands of victims from the 9/11 attacks would still be alive.
Paul was discussing foreign policy when he said: “Somebody… said the other day on the Internet, ‘if those Paul people had been in charge, Osama Bin Laden would still be alive.’”
The former presidential candidate countered with emotion: “But you know what I think the answer is? So would the 3000 people [killed] on 9/11, be alive!”
At that, the crowd roared.
Ah yes, the Paulbots cheered…shocking
The rest of the quote is priceless too. He and his ilk still have the “Fortress America” fantasy running ’round their unstable minds.
The only ones less able to face reality than them are the leftists, not that they don’t have some things in common.
One of Paul’s “people” was “in charge”- Michael Scheuer, his blowback hero who was station chief of the bin Laden unit; and who some say was not particularly effective at his job, considering they did fail to stop bin Laden on their watch.
Imperial Chutzpah!
[sarc]In a close election, let’s vote for a third party fringe candidate and thereby ensure that the Socialist candidate wins! We can spend four more years complaining about the expansion of government![/sacr]
This is by the way is the same tactic the Paulbots used in 2006 and 2008 and several tight US Senate races flipped to Democratic wins thereby bring us Obamacare and $1+ trillion deficits. So perhaps we can expand that to:
[sarc]In a close election, let’s vote for a third party fringe candidate and thereby ensure that the Socialist candidate wins! We can spend four more years complaining about the expansion of government! Then in the next In a close election, let’s vote for a third party fringe candidate and thereby ensure that the Socialist candidate wins! Ron Paul supporters = Progressive tools and fools

If those Paul people had been in charge during the 1930’s, Hitler would likely have lived to a ripe old age and we’d all be speaking German … those of us who weren’t Jewish or Black of course …
@Mike O’Malley:
The progressives and ronulans both have a habit of blaiming America first. Yet they think they are patriots.
I’m on another site and the many of the ronulans have a significant problem with authority at any level, not just the federal level as they like to pretend. They constantly post stories of police mistakes. They have to do it that way because they were told flat out by the site owner to knock off the unhinged police bashing they were doping. We all know it’s an end run around what the owner said was allowed. And as I have also found, quite a few of them really love their weed. The weed might explain how they think we can hide behind our shores and not be hit.
Anyone who has read Osama bin Laden’s actual writings and translated speeches realizes that NOTHING that either Israel or the USA could have done, short of SURRENDERING to Dhimmitude under Islam, could have stopped his plans.
What motivated Osama?
Not the creation of Israel.
Not America’s presence in the Middle East.
No.
It was that Europeans kicked the Muslim caliphate out of Spain 700 years ago!!!!
He wanted Cordoba, Spain’s Catholic Cathedral, reverted into a Mosque!
He wanted Islam ruling Spain….again!
Isolationists keep making the mistake of thinking that, ”if we leave them alone, they will leave us alone,” applies in Islam.
It does not apply.
Long, Long Held Grudges are the basis for Muslim aggression.
After all, they are not supposed to instigate aggression, only respond to something prior.
How distantly past prior is not relevant to them.
Ron Paul is deluding his followers, knowing how he could go around the US Constitution whenever he needed to once they foolishly gave him more power.
I like to deflate the Paulbots by askign them how being 100% defensive has ever been a winning strategy. Maybe 1000 years ago but the Germans in WWII tried to stop an attacking force with the Atlantic wall and it kept the allies out for a total of 1 day. Do they really think we can protect the entire border of America by sitting back and waiting for someone to attack us? Any one who has studied military history can tell you the victor doesnt wait to be attacked he normally is attacking the enemy before the battle has even begun.
@Aleric:
You reminded me about the greatest defensive chess master of all time, Mikhail Tal.
We still study his strategies.
BUT, despite his reputation as a defense-oriented player, Tal was also, ironically, the best attacking player of all time!
He crouched like a tiger, keeping back and complicating the board.
Then, when you were overwhelmed by the complexity he pounced!
He was a master of this strategy.
Ron Paul is an idiot.
@Nan G:
No, not an idiot, I think Ron Paul is disingenuous.
Ron Paul’s hyper-isolationist Fortress America without doubt would hang all of America’s better allies out to dry … on a limb, if I can mix metaphors.

Ron Paul’s hyper-isolationism brings to mind 2 Samuel Chapter 11:
1 In the spring, at the time when kings go off to war, David sent Joab out with the king’s men and the whole Israelite army. They destroyed the Ammonites and besieged Rabbah. But David remained in Jerusalem.
2 One evening David got up from his bed and walked around on the roof of the palace. From the roof he saw a woman bathing. The woman was very beautiful, 3 and David sent someone to find out about her. The man said, “She is Bathsheba, the daughter of Eliam and the wife of Uriah the Hittite.” 4 Then David sent messengers to get her. She came to him, and he slept with her. (Now she was purifying herself from her monthly uncleanness.) Then she went back home. 5 The woman conceived and sent word to David, saying, “I am pregnant.”
6 So David sent this word to Joab: “Send me Uriah the Hittite.” And Joab sent him to David. 7 When Uriah came to him, David asked him how Joab was, how the soldiers were and how the war was going. 8 Then David said to Uriah, “Go down to your house and wash your feet.” So Uriah left the palace, and a gift from the king was sent after him. 9 But Uriah slept at the entrance to the palace with all his master’s servants and did not go down to his house.
10 David was told, “Uriah did not go home.” So he asked Uriah, “Haven’t you just come from a military campaign? Why didn’t you go home?”
11 Uriah said to David, “The ark and Israel and Judah are staying in tents,[a] and my commander Joab and my lord’s men are camped in the open country. How could I go to my house to eat and drink and make love to my wife? As surely as you live, I will not do such a thing!”
12 Then David said to him, “Stay here one more day, and tomorrow I will send you back.” So Uriah remained in Jerusalem that day and the next. 13 At David’s invitation, he ate and drank with him, and David made him drunk. But in the evening Uriah went out to sleep on his mat among his master’s servants; he did not go home.
14 In the morning David wrote a letter to Joab and sent it with Uriah. 15 In it he wrote, “Put Uriah out in front where the fighting is fiercest. Then withdraw from him so he will be struck down and die. ”
