A cute zinger which Romney will instantly destroy as soon as he reminds people of where this same logic would have gotten us in 1980.
“Why would you want to nominate the guy who lost to the guy who lost to Obama?” Newt asked a standing-room only crowd in Myrtle Beach, S.C…
Gingrich then challenged Romney to a 90-minute, one-on-one debate “anywhere in the state” of South Carolina on Friday night. He said they could sell $10 tickets and donate the proceeds to the charity of Romney’s choosing.
“There is zero chance he’ll take it,” Gingrich said. “He won’t debate and the reason is simple, he can’t defend his record as governor.”
He’s attacking Romney’s alleged electability here, which is fair enough, but I think it’s too late to change public perceptions about that now. Check out these three data points from today’s Fox News poll. Point one: Republican voters are, understandably, placing more weight on electability as the campaign heats up.
Tonight’s debate is going to be one of the hottest.
At last the gloves are all the way off and fists are going to fly.
For all it’s worth – why does noone sees that Romeny is pushed by the same one-worlders who pushed Obama on us? Gingrich is no better – his mentor Toffler is also a one worlder. We have noone in the field other than Santorum or Perry who at least not part of this one worlder yet. We are traii=ting one traitor for another. What’s the difference?
If Romney is our nominee…we lose!
Why would you vote FOR Romney. He is passionless and kind of souless. When he tries faking passion it just comes off as bad acting. He is stiff and appears to be uncomfortable in his own skin. Every other candidate has more passion and is more consistently conservative except maybe Newt who is all over the map but he is passionate? The presidency is about someone to believe in. Someone you want to follow over that next hill. Not the cardboard cutout that is just sort of competent.
To be for Romney you are only voting AGAINST Obama. I just don’t think we beat Obama with a candidate that no one believes in. We will just see. I suppose if we lose to Obama at least hopefully we will have a conservative House and Senate to hold him in check. May our conservative Supreme Court nominees live past Obama’s next 4 years.
The biggest problem I see, is that we do not need a “moderate”, who will be afraid of alienating some constituency or another- We cannot afford a surgeon with a scalpel- we are waaaaaay beyond that- we need a lumberjack with a chainsaw, in order to make the cuts we need to have made.
