Twitchy:
Update: Less than five minutes after our post was published, the above tweet was deleted. The photo posted earlier this morning by Ambassador Jawad is below. Jawad apparently does not know that Twitchy is forever.
Said T. Jawad is Afghanistan’s former ambassador to the United States, having served in that capacity from December 4, 2003, to September 22, 2010
According to his website, Jawad has a position at the School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS) at John Hopkins University as Diplomat in Residence and was named the inaugural Fisher Family Fellow at the Future of Diplomacy Project at the Harvard Kennedy School of Government.
The photo he posted this morning, which has been circulating on the Internet for at least three years, is an obvious fake.
Check out the clouds:
A close-up:
Absurd. Totally fake. RT @AmbassadorJawad A shameful picture of US solders killing the last lion in Kunar province. http://t.co/WJSwTQPOs1”—
Nick (@ndubaz) December 25, 2013@NazranaYusufzai @FFazly @AmbassadorJawadThis is an old fake photo. (from at least 2010)rense.com/general92/brav…—
Nick (@ndubaz) December 25, 2013@NazranaYusufzai @IftikharFirdous FWIW, there’s an unedited version on the Internets, this has cloud and ground replication in photoshop.—
Shahid Saeed (@shahidsaeed) December 25, 2013@AmbassadorJawad there have been leopards spotted in Afghanistan, and cheetahs are said to reside there. But no lions. This picture is fake—
Bob Wilson (@aoindependence) December 25, 2013@AmbassadorJawad This “shameful” picture is obviously – and badly – manipulated and I consider it fake unless backed by supporting evidence.—
F-M Mellbin (@AmbMellbin)Â December 25, 2013A retraction and apology would be nice.
[Update]
Awad tweeted this:
@ndubaz @NazranaYusufzai @FFazly Thank you very much. It is deleted .—
Ambassador Jawad (@AmbassadorJawad)Â December 25, 2013Still no apology.
