The FBI had operational informants inside the Trump campaign and among Trump associates, according to the Justice Department’s inspector general report.
The finding appears to be the first official confirmation that there were FBI-paid spies, called confidential human sources (CHS), close to President Trump.
Inspector General Michael Horowitz’s report tends to downplay his finding. But he does say that one informant reported information directly to Crossfire Hurricane, the code name for the FBI probe into Trump-Russia connections led by agent Peter Strzok.
The IG wrote:
“We also identified several individuals who had either a connection to candidate Trump or a role in the Trump campaign, and were also FBI CHSs, but who were not tasked as part of the Crossfire Hurricane investigation.”
“One such CHS did provide the Crossfire Hurricane team with general information about Crossfire Hurricane subjects Page and Manafort, but we found that this CHS had no further involvement in the investigation.”
That was a reference to Carter Page, an adviser whom the FBI wiretapped for a year, and former campaign manager Paul Manafort.

Gee… another criminal act committed by the Obama administration has been shown to be a fact. We’ve been told repeatedly (Greg) that there was no way this ever happened.
I wonder, what’s it like to, fact by fact, to find out that everything you claim to be fact is absolutely false? Perhaps, if they’ve been paying attention, one of our resident liberal apologists can tell us.
FBI head James Comey used weasel words to say this investigation only started AFTER the GOP convention where Trump became the official nominee of the party.
But he lied.
Apparently he thought the questioner failed to say some “magic words” that would have forced him to admit this all started much earlier, in 2015.

Yes, the timing is important.
Obama had his FBI break laws to get stuff against Trump before the Convention.
@Nan G: Rogers may reveal it wasnt just Trump the DNC was gathering metadata and dossiers on, this most likely was the entire election from the first Republican to jump in the race. Just nailing down on Trump and I think Cruz, and Carson in the beginning of 2016.
