Charles Krauthammer just called this a “great achievement.”
Over 10 years, it cuts, it is supposed, $1.1 trillion dollars.
But almost all of those cuts come in the tenth year.
See page 9 for the overall effect on the deficit, year by year.
The line of year-by-year “total effect on the deficit” reads:
-1 -16 -57 -73 -85 -96 -109 -123 -138 -153
The CBO scores the ten year deficit reduction as $851 billion, not $1.1 trillion.
They’re rewriting their proposal in light of the CBO’s scoring of the plan.
And probably, as Gabe writes in an email, due to mass hysteria.
Simple GOP solution … Double the terms of the CCB and send it back to the Senate. Every time it fails double it again.
The “no planners” will only wish for the original back. Don’t let that happen. The backup baseline room for negotiations is 25% of the last one sent.
Every, not some,or most but all bills on taxes introduced by congress and passed ALWAYS introduce the tax increase first then the reductions are years later and by that time when it is found that the bill didn’t work and another politician reintroduces another great bill on capital hill that does the same thing but a different way.
And oh yea by the way if all these bills allegedly burn the wealthy how come us little guys get screwed?
@Mune Shadowe:
Funny how that is what happens, isn’t it?
mass hysteria, the OBAMA’S CREATED WITH HIS MEDIA,
The house is on fire and they are throwing cups of water at it when a firetruck is needed. Fools.
@Hard Right:
Cups?
I’d say that they went and grabbed a bottle cap full of water and now are prancing around the fire claiming they will put it out, without actually throwing it at the fire, while Obama is standing around with a burning stick, lighting a cigarette, and telling everyone else to grab a stick too in order to put the fire out. And who is supplying the sticks? Picture Trumka standing on the bed of a truck, handing out sticks to SEIU and ACORN members, and the logo on the side of the truck says “Soros Industries”.
