Democratic presidential candidate Andrew Yang said the United States may have to eliminate private car ownership to combat climate change during MSNBC’s climate forum at Georgetown University Thursday morning.

He told MSNBC host Ali Velshi that “we might not own our own cars” by 2050 to wean the United States economy off of fossil fuels, describing private car ownership as “really inefficient and bad for the environment.” Privately owned cars would be replaced by a “constant roving fleet of electric cars.”

A video posted by the GOP War Room shows Velshi asking Yang what measures he sees the world taking to fight climate change by 2050.

“You have this ability to envision the future, right, with your proposals on universal basic income. You’ve played the whole chess game out and you see what it looks like on the other end. Play the chess game out on climate change,” Velshi said. “What does the world look like to you in 2050? What physically do you think we will do differently than we do today that will result in us fighting climate change?”

“Well I mentioned before that we might not own our own cars. Our current car ownership and usage model is really inefficient and bad for the environment,” Yang said.

“You guys all probably agree with this because you’re quite young,” he told the Georgetown University crowd, adding an anecdote about driving a 1985 Honda Accord as a young man.

Yang then proposed an alternative to individuals owning their own cars.

“What we’re really selling is not the car, it’s mobility,” he said. “So if you have mobility that’s then tied into a much more, if you had like, for example, this constant roving fleet of electric cars that you would just order up, then you could diminish the impact of ground transportation on our environment very, very quickly.”

Yang’s climate plan calls for nearly $5 trillion in spending over the next 20 years. His proposal includes embracing the impacts of climate change.

@kitt, #49:

If the simple fact that Biden’s son is involved in international financial activities is evidence of serious wrongdoing, you’ve certainly got one helluva problem with the entire Trump family.

Uh, have you got the right link there?

@Greg: That Biden stopped investigations int one of those countries, that business dealings with china had ties to national security. Most likely like uranium one rubber stamped despite questionable behavior is the problem . Having a hotel with your name on it is hardly a national security issue. The Trumps seem to have history and experience in the business. Bidens kid and brother dont.
You are not close to gas lighting these revelations, but keep trying.
And you are still off subject.

There are no revelations, unless you’re talking about Trump’s admission that he did, in fact, talk to the leader of Ukraine about his wish that an investigation of Biden be opened, or Rudy Giuliani’s accidental acknowledgement that he went Ukraine a while back as Trump’s personal attorney to pitch the same proposition.

If you want a revelation, let’s see Trump’s tax returns. We’ve already got 21 consecutive years of Joe Biden’s to look at. Oddly, there’s nothing to be in there suggesting questionable dealings with anybody—which is why nothing is being cited.

@Greg:

You can’t possibly know that,

Really? Well, when at the first hint of the accusation, every Democrat goes into full impeachment mode. THAT’S a pretty sound indication of how solid the accusation is. On Russia, obstruction, Scotland, taxes and now this, there is no intention to wait for evidence of any facts before they utilize the accusation for political gain. NOT partisan politics? Prove THAT.

If the simple fact that Biden’s son is involved in international financial activities is evidence of serious wrongdoing, you’ve certainly got one helluva problem with the entire Trump family.

Except they have never had their daddy Vice-President threaten to withhold $1.2 billion in loan guarantees if investigations of them are stopped, have they? Using the federal government to intimidate other countries to fire their prosecutors looking into your son’s corruption is a pretty clear indicator. Just like obliterating 33,000 State Department emails the moment the State Department wants them is a pretty good indication they contain some things not intended to be seen by State… or law enforcement. Criminals hide stuff. It’s how they protect themselves.

There are no revelations, unless you’re talking about Trump’s admission that he did, in fact, talk to the leader of Ukraine about his wish that an investigation of Biden be opened,

RE-opened… after Biden had it quashed, as in it was getting close to his son’s (and his) corruption. Shouldn’t we KNOW the truth about that investigation before we consider Biden for President of the United States? How about an answer to that?

If you want a revelation, let’s see Trump’s tax returns.

Sure, as soon as you have some valid, qualified necessity to see them. Until then, they are private records that the IRS is required to keep private.

He has ordered that the law be broken to withhold an urgent matter complaint from congressional intelligence committees. He has done the same to withhold his tax returns from a congressional committee that has the legal right to see them, and to order people to ignore lawful congressional subpoenas for evidence and testimony. Part of his oath of office was to uphold the nation’s laws.

This isn’t exactly “at the first hint of accusation,” is it? Mueller clearly laid out a ten-point case for obstruction of justice months ago, and much more has happened since then. Failure of Congress to act is beginning to look to many people like dereliction of duty. On the GOP side, it’s beginning to look like aiding and abetting. Republicans once impeached a president over a lie he told concerning a sexual indiscretion with another consenting adult.

@Greg: Greg, you head is so far up your but, you can not even see. Should Obama been impeached for telling Putin he could be more compliant after the election? The president is in charge of foreign affairs. Having a “whistle blower” who had no direct knowledge of the conversation initiate an investigation by the JD is ignorant. There has to be direct evidence that the President did something wrong, not some lefty with a grudge who got info from someone who got information from someone who may have heard that,,,,,,,,

@Greg:

He has ordered that the law be broken to withhold an urgent matter complaint from congressional intelligence committees.

Without a defined need, they don’t get to see his income tax returns. Those are private and not available to be perused by a bunch of whiny crybabies who leak everything they see. It is unfortunate that liberals cannot be trusted to have integrity, but the fact is, they can’t.

This isn’t exactly “at the first hint of accusation,” is it? Mueller clearly laid out a ten-point case for obstruction of justice months ago, and much more has happened since then.

Well, yes it is. Mueller said, unambiguously, that Trump had not “curtailed, stopped or hindered” and said he could not find any crimes to pursue… and obstruction is a crime, isn’t it? So, once again, it is ALL political ALL the time because your whiny crybabies are convinced they do not have any candidates, even WITH the normal voter fraud Democrats always rely on, that can defeat Trump.

@Randy:

Should Obama been impeached for telling Putin he could be more compliant after the election?

Well, hell, look at what Democrats have been doing. Of COURSE they were OK with Obama promising to do Putin’s bidding; they’ve ALL been doing Putin’s bidding since the election.

Maybe he could be offered a Nobel Peace Prize in return for voluntarily leaving. His followers could be offered free deprogramming sessions.

@Greg: He has ordered that the law be broken to withhold an urgent matter complaint from congressional intelligence committees. I heard it from a friend, who heard it from a friend, who heard it from another…And that crap is supposed to be put in front of congress? I think they have better things to do.
I heard it through the grapevine isnt good enough.

@Greg: Maybe we all could have relevant discussions if you left!

@Greg: No, you are going to have to use Constitutional means to get him out of office and the more you use unconstitutional means, the more certain he will be there until 2024 it is.

@kitt:

But that’s all they want to do. They are obsessed with their tantrums, the country be damned.

@kitt, #59:

I heard it from a friend, who heard it from a friend, who heard it from another…

Actually, Congress heard it from the intelligence community’s Inspector General, who reviewed the as yet undisclosed complaint and agreed that it is a matter of urgent concern.

He properly passed it on to the acting Director—a very recent Trump installment—who decided not to pass it on to the congressional intelligence committees as is required by law within 7 days of his receipt of it. (More likely he was told by his master not to pass it on, because the law does not make doing so a discretionary matter.)

The right’s spin of the situation doesn’t correspond with reality.

@Deplorable Me, #61:

No, you are going to have to use Constitutional means to get him out of office and the more you use unconstitutional means, the more certain he will be there until 2024 it is.

Impeachment is a constitutional means. So is Section 4 of the 25th Amendment, though Trump might have Pence locked in the White House dungeon to forestall that possibility. Why not? He couldn’t be prosecuted or investigated for it.

@Deplorable Me: Democrats act like kids in the checkout line tell them they cant have a candybar and its meltdown.

@Greg:

Actually, Congress heard it from the intelligence community’s Inspector General, who reviewed the as yet undisclosed complaint and agreed that it is a matter of urgent concern.

But the SOURCE is some guy that heard someone else taking about what they heard. Pretty solid, huh? Probably should impeach tomorrow.

You’ve had 4 investigations of Trump which have included illegal surveillance, wire taps, spies and informants. NOTHING has been found to indicate your suspicions were even well founded. Yet, you will not let go of the fantasy that you are going to find a crime Trump committed and run him out of office for it. Even though he has never committed any crimes and has worked with both Democrats and Republicans, Democrats now hate him… simply because he beat Hillary.

Meanwhile, Hillary destroyed evidence, obstructed justice and, at least once, demonstrably lied, under oath, before Congress. Yet you maintain her total innocence.

Biden openly bragged about using the withholding of a loan guarantee to get a prosecutor of a foreign nation that was investigating a business his son was involved in fired yet you think Trump is out of line to want to find out if there is a basis to believe Biden abused HIS power and is involved in corrupt business activities.

Your sense of justice leaves much to be desired.

@kitt: Indeed, they don’t like having their ignorance exposed. They think the government is their own plaything with which they are allowed to destroy their political opponents. If they aren’t allowed to play with their toys, they throw a tantrum.

But the SOURCE is some guy that heard someone else taking about what they heard.

Says who? That’s just another rumor the media picked up on, right? And it’s also from an unidentified source.

@Greg:

Says who? That’s just another rumor the media picked up on, right? And it’s also from an unidentified source.

Say’s WaPo and CNN. You think they are trafficking fake news? Besides, Mr. or Ms. Unnamed Source is the main witness you liberals ALWAYS depend on.

It’s falling apart. Just like all your other fantasies.

Something may be falling apart. Even FOX News seems to have noticed.

“It’s The Tide. It’s The Dismal Tide. It’s Not The One Thing.”

@Greg: They are trafficking hearsay, not admissible in any court. Its also called gossip.
Have you picked up you grocery store check out rag?
Keeping up on Batboy, bigfoot and the alien baby?

@Greg: What do you reckon the left is trying to prevent from being exposed?

Obama, Hillary, Podesta and other Democrats fleeced Ukraine

Obama, the Bidens, the Clintons, the IMF and Others Pillaged Ukraine Then Forced Its Citizens to Pay Excessive Natural Gas Prices at 50% Above Market

From The Hill, September 24, 2019 – Giuliani says State Department asked him to take call from Ukrainian official

But the State Department says they didn’t. This administration seems to have more loose screws than a Studebaker.

@Greg: https://hotair.com/archives/allahpundit/2019/09/24/deescalation-trump-authorizes-release-transcript-call-ukrainian-president/

Once again, Democrats puts their tantrums before national security. How long before NO nation trusts confidentiality thanks to Democrats? All this to PROVE what we already know: that Democrats are LIARS that will destroy the country to get at the President… because they lost an election.

He should have simply made the transcript and urgent concern complaint available for confidential review by the appropriate congressional committees immediately. Then any leak that followed would have been on the heads of whoever disregarded the need for a president and a foreign head of state to be able to have private conversations.

@Greg: In a world filled with adults, that would not be a problem, but that’s now where we live, is it? We live in a world where our government is infested with infantile, immature Democrats that LEAK classified information to embarrass the President simply because they are in the throes of a spoiled brat tantrum. We live in a world where the innocent are guilty until they prove their innocence. We live in a world where Democrats, sworn to uphold the Constitution, work to destroy our government in order to avoid trying to win an election.

It really PISSES me off that Trump has to violate the confidentiality of conversations with foreign leaders, something UNPRECEDENTED in our history, to satisfy more tantrum-driven accusations, mainly conceived to cover up the corruption of one of their Presidential candidates and the past Democrat administration.

I don’t think the leaks are all coming from democrats. Democrats don’t have access to much of what has slipped out over the past three years.

Note how many hours went by before Pres Trump announced he would publish the entire, unredacted transcript?
He obtained permission from the Ukrainian president, whom he called to congratulate for his landslide win over the globalist opponent.

As to the so-called “whistleblower,” he is NOT a real whistleblower according to all legal definitions of that term. He is NOW saying he wasn’t ONLY concerned about this phone call (hint, hint, there’s no there, there) but rather a lot of President Trump’s positions on things upset him.
How does that make him different from every other snowflake on the Left?
Only that, at one time, he was in the gov’t as a holdover from the Obama White House.
For his next trick he will throw everything we’ve already heard and answered against the wall, hoping something will stick.

@Greg:

I don’t think the leaks are all coming from democrats. Democrats don’t have access to much of what has slipped out over the past three years.

Well, then, you would be WRONG. It was proven Schiff was leaking when he was fed information, which he subsequently leaked, that only HE had been given.

So, yes, it is DEMOCRATS and Obama appointees that are doing the leaking and they are scum. Anti-American scum.
