Democratic opposition research organization American Bridge apologized on Monday for sending someone to follow New Hampshire Republican Sen. Kelly Ayotte at a funeral this weekend, after a reporter and the New Hampshire Republican party attacked them for the move.
Ray Burton, New Hampshire’s longest serving executive councilor passed away in November,* and the crowd in attendance at his memorial service on Saturday included a number of politicians, including former New Hampshire Gov. John Lynch, and New Hampshire’s two Senators, Kelly Ayotte and Jeanne Shaheen.
Also in attendance was a Democratic “tracker,”someone who follows around candidates with a video camera capturing moments that can potentially be used to attack them later. The tracker was sent by the Super PAC American Bridge to follow around Ayotte.
The rest is at the Daily Caller
Ayotte defeated Democratic congressman Paul Hodes, with 60% of the vote and was later sworn into the U.S. Senate as a member of the 112th Congress, on January 3, 2011.
So, slime is the only arrow in her opposition’s quiver.
Seems like she has set herself up as one of those politicians whose stand is highly principled on a number of issues.
Therefore her opposition is sending out operatives to ”prove” that she cannot live up to such perfect standards.
Gee.
I’ll take a human being over a perfect robot anytime.
And certainly over someone, like her next likely Dem opponent, who hasn’t even got standards to TRY to live up to.
Ilike her way of saying her truth and then explaining why she said it,
and what are the cosequences if it does not get apply,
SHE IS VERY CREDIBLE BECAUSE OF IT,
War on Women, perhaps?
THE DEMS DO THEIR SNAKY TRICKS AND
THAN THEY APOLOGIZE,, NOT ACCEPTED,
So who is republican attack weasel James O’Keefe stalking lately? That guy doesn’t just follow people around with a video camera. He contrives situations that put the people he’s smearing into the worst possible light.
@Greg: He’s probably stalking some liberals scheming to help someone steal taxpayer dollars and exposing them. Corrupt liberals, beware.
Yeah, right. I wonder who provided O’Keefe with the $100,000 he had to pay the former Acorn employee that he smeared using deceptively edited videos, which were made illegally to begin with?
This particular media cockroach is presently providing material for Darrell Issa, who has taken his Obamacare dog-and-pony show on the road for Obamacare “field investigations.”
@Greg: Yes, had to pay for illegally (i.e., not properly informed of the recording). However, edited? No, no MSNBC-style editing to modify the content. Just liberals doing what liberals do; helping people defraud the government out of the money provided by those despicable rich people who provide all the funds for the liberals to hand out.
No smearing, just catching a scumbag in the act of trying to promote scumbaggedness. Liberalism revealed.
Uh huh.
Frequently left out of the right wing media’s version of events is the fact that the employee in question called the police to report the incident shortly after O’Keefe and his accomplice left his office—totally unaware at that point that O’Keefe had illegally recorded the entire interview. Forbes mentions that in their article about the settlement.
They also touch on the extent of O’Keefe’s deceptive editing:
He re-shot the sequences of himself and his companion in different attire, and inserted them into the video that was released to national media. How much more deceptive could anything possibly get?
O’Keefe settled for $100,000 to keep all of this out of court. The honest employee whose reputation he ruined—the one who had promptly reported the entire incident to the police, and then lost his job because of O’Keefe’s concocted scandal—accepted the settlement, knowing that O’Keefe’s backers wouldn’t put out a nickel to cover any damages that a civil court awarded.
So, the cockroach crawls on to his next assignment, his reputation—at least on the right—unscathed.
@Greg: Here’s the question of the day; why don’t these purveyors of other people’s money throw the bum out as soon as the repugnant questions exit his mouth? Whether it is questions about how to set up a whore house with underage illegal immigrants or how to scam the insurance exchanges, why are the enablers always so eager to promote fraud?
The answer is that they are all there to promote the erosion of America.
@Bill Burris, #10:
The Forbes article answers that question:
That’s the reason Vera called the local police after O’Keefe and Giles had left his office. He wasn’t calling to turn himself in.
It’s hardly surprising that many people don’t know the full story. The O’Keefe video, which was a hit job on Acorn, received ’round the clock play by the right wing media—FOX News, in particular. The revelation that the whole thing was a deception came long after, and received ZERO coverage from those same media outlets.
@Nanny G:
Do not forget to leave the zombies out too
@Greg:
They are smearing themselves O’Keefe is just pulling the curtains open a bit
That’s not what the facts say.
@Greg: Since when are you concerned with facts, Greg? You still believe in AGW because Al Gore says so. You still think the ACA only required substandard health care policies to be discontinued.
I think there is something inherently unequal about comparing an activist journalist like O’Keefe looking at people ON THE CLOCK …. with a super PAC democratic opposition research organization sending a tracker to try to catch a politician doing something wrong during OFF HOURS of their lives.
Recall when a Democrat, Curtis Morrison, secretly recorded Mitch McConnell planning how he might beat an opponent?
Curtis was shocked, SHOCKED that FELLOW DEMOCRATS would, as he called it, “rip me a new one.”
Yes, it wasn’t just Republicans going after him for his illegal act.
U.S. Rep. John Yarmuth, a Democrat from Louisville, (who Curtis refers to as “Congressman Awesome” ) took to MSNBC to tell all twelve viewers there what a crime Curtis had committed!
And why, according to Curtis, himself, did he commit his crime?
”I believe in the philosophy of Julian Assange,” is his answer.
Well, there you have it.
@Greg: Democrats support 3rd party candidates to defeat Republicans, support the use of hidden cameras to record Romney speaking, then use the liberal media they have in their back pocket to blow statements out of proportion in order to use that to political gain, use operatives to act like Tea Party members in order to make sure their false claims of racism and hate being present at Tea Party rallies have validity, of course, as Randy points out, support and spread bold face lies to promote a failed ideology…. and you take faux-offense at someone exposing liberals in the act of defrauding the American taxpayer?
Greg, as your idol, Mr. Obama has said, don’t bring a knife to a gun fight and when you liberals hit, we will (now) hit back, only harder, but just as low. Enjoy the show.
@Bill Burris, #17:
Both the right and the left attempt to exploit “gotcha” moments in the media, making for much low comedy. Soundbites have come from both accidentally open microphones and from microphones used very deliberately outside closed office doors. Concealed cameras have been used by people on both sides of the political divide. Neither side is above exploiting a revealing moment. It’s unfortunate that politics isn’t a polite game, but the fact that it isn’t is nothing new.
That said, I have no use whatsoever for people like O’Keefe. There’s a big difference between what he did and what the person who recorded the Romney speech did. O’Keefe’s video was a deliberate fabrication and an outright lie; the recorded Romney speech was simply an accurate recording of a Romney speech.
There’s nothing false about my contempt for O’Keefe. The man fabricates evidence and uses it in a slanderous and libelous fashion, not giving a damn about any innocent people whose reputations get destroyed in the process. Everything about the Acorn video was totally false, and O’Keefe knew it because he deliberately made it that way. This is established fact.
You seem to have mistaken the fact that I don’t hate and generally support a president that I’ve twice voted for with idolatry. There’s actually a very big difference. I have no idols.
@Greg: “The man fabricates evidence and uses it in a slanderous and libelous fashion, not giving a damn about any innocent people whose reputations get destroyed in the process. Everything about the Acorn video was totally false, and O’Keefe knew it because he deliberately made it that way. This is established fact.”
Ummm… no, that’s incorrect. He taped people saying what they said, advising how to lie and defraud the goverenment. No, he should not care about how this harms those encouraging the defrauding because they deserve punishment. Of course, when someone works for the federal government, if they cause the waste of millions or billions of taxpayer dollars, they don’t get punished. However, those who encourage the waste of our dollars, be they federal employees or those of some left wing “community organizing” rabble rousing gang, should be punished.
Compare that to MSNBC trying desperately to make Zimmerman out to be a racist cold blooded killer. What is their motivation for that? And, where is the outrage from the left for it?
@Bill Burris, #19:
I’m trying to tell you, as politely as possible, that this is a load of 100 percent unadulterated horse manure. O’Keefe fabricated the video, using scenes that weren’t even recorded during the interview the video was supposed to depict. This has been proven. It’s not an allegation or theory. It’s established fact.
Acorn employees did not work for the federal government. Acorn consisted of a number of affiliated but legally independent community action organizations and was a private, non-profit organization. Acorn did receive federal grant money. So have many private, non-profit community organizations in the past. Have you forgotten about Bush’s Faith-Based Neighborhood Partnerships? Hello? They were community action organizations.
Following the media stink that O’Keefe’s video raised, Acorn was subjected to thorough independent investigations by state and city attorney generals, and also by the Government Accounting Office. All of the investigations cleared Acorn and its employees of any and all charges of criminal wrongdoing. The accusations were totally bogus. Every damn one of them. The investigations went on for over a year, however, and by that point Acorn and it’s reputation had already been destroyed.
O’Keefe escaped criminal prosecution by way of making a $100,000 settlement. (That wasn’t his only criminal act, either. Remember his efforts to install illegal wiretapping equipment in the office of a U.S. Senator? That goes a long way beyond trying to record a private conversation while standing outside in a public hallway.)
Those are the established facts. Apparently many on the right are totally immune to established facts, preferring to believe what has now been disproved during the course of 4 separate criminal investigations. I guess some people will believe whatever they want to believe, no matter what.
@Greg: I know exactly what you are trying to tell me; that anyone that catches any leftist at their game are scumbags. Well, perhaps anyone that gets involved in that sort of business HAS to be a scumbag, to a certain degree.
But here is what you ARE telling me; that whenever the left construes some lie to show how Republicans hate women, minorities, children, veterans, the poor and the environment, it is a great victory to be celebrated; the ends ALWAYS justifies the means. When the left employs plants to hold up racist signs at Tea Party rallies to “prove” the Tea Parties consists of racists, that is a wonderful accomplishment. When Dan Rather invents paperwork to “prove” Bush avoided combat, whoopie! Great Success! Edit audio to make (a later proven) innocent man out to be a racist, cold-blooded killer and put his life at even greater risk of a lynch mob finding him, SCORE!!!
But, get caught on video suggesting how one can avoid taxes while opening a whore house using under- age illegal immigrants or how one can scam the insurance companies and get cheaper rates (while the rest suffer under rising premiums and deductibles), well, that’s just not abiding by the Queensberry Rules, is it? How un-gentleman-like. That just ain’t fair is it?
The left has established the ground rules for this fight and they aren’t pretty. However, whenever you on the left want to apologize for lowering the debate so low and pledge to end it, I would find that refreshing. You won’t, though, because your ideology cannot withstand the pummeling it gets from facts and truth; that’s why we are here in the first place.

just a thought, if we hit lower, there will be belts falling on the floor,

i can see the democrats all in a frenzy to recuperate their goods,
even if the pants don’t fit them and the belt is too short to reach the buckle,
what a show it would be,
