CBS has issued an apology after outrage was sparked when the cast and crew of the show Hawaii Five-O were seen stepping on headstones and disrupting a special veterans ceremony during Pearl Harbor week.
Timothy Davis, the president and founder of The Greatest Generations Foundation, who organized the trip to Hawaii for 23 Pearl Harbor survivors said that the apology is not enough. Earlier on Fox and Friends, Davis said, “My 10-year-old can produce a better apology than what CBS has provided us.”
The apology to which Davis refers was issued by Peter Lenkov, the executive producer of ‘Hawaii Five-O’, who said in a statement, “Any rudeness by our staff can only be attributed to haste to finish our work, not a lack of respect for men and women who have served and sacrificed for their country. We sincerely apologize to any that were offended.”Davis described the scene, saying, “My blood was boiling when we got there, seeing about a ton of equipment on the graves there at the cemetery.”
He said, “As we stopped halfway up to allow the veterans to go visit some of their fallen brothers, these guys just came out of nowhere and said, ‘You need to move, you need to get out of the shot.’”
Davis concluded by saying that it was an absolutely “disgraceful” event.
