Obama campaign call affirms money anxiety
Leaked details of a plaintive phone call from President Obama to some of his biggest donors this weekend offered a rare and revealing look into the typically private rituals of big-dollar campaign fundraising.
The pitch also affirmed the campaign’s anxiety about lagging behind in the money race.
“In 2008 everything was new and exciting about our campaign,” Mr Obama said, according to a recording of the call obtained by The Daily Beast, a news website. “And now I’m the incumbent president. I’ve got grey hair. People have seen disappointment because folks had a vision of change happening immediately. And it turns out change is hard”.
Michelle Obama: There is ‘No Place Better’ Than Church to Talk About Political Issues
There is no better place than church to talk about political issues because they are ultimately moral issues, First Lady Michelle Obama told a church gathering on Thursday.
“To anyone who says that church is no place to talk about these issues, you tell them there is no place better – no place better,” Obama told the African Methodist Episcopal Church’s 49th general conference, held in in Nashville, Tenn.
“Because ultimately, these are not just political issues – they are moral issues,” she said. “They’re issues that have to do with human dignity and human potential, and the future we want for our kids and our grandkids.”
Michelle Obama: Supporters of Barack bear ‘the legacy’ of Abraham’s faith in God
First Lady Michelle Obama made a sustained analogy between black voters supporting President Obama and the black church practicing the Christian faith last week, before concluding that supporters of her husband can carry the “legacy” of Biblical figures who had faith in God.
“And I want you to think of the stories in the Bible about folks like Abel and Noah; folks like Abraham and Sarah, and the verse in Hebrews that says, ‘All these people were still living by faith when they died. They did not receive the things promised. They only saw them and welcomed them from a distance,’” the first lady told the African Methodist Episcopal Church Conference on Thursday. “Through so many heartbreaks and trials, those who came before us kept the faith. They could only see that promised land from a distance, but they never let it out of their sight.”
So, their ”message” boils down to:
1. ”change is hard, give me another 4 years …..and as much money as you can.
2. repetition and false equivalencies.
3. twisting the Word of God to fit their agenda.
I hope even their dumbest 2008 supporters see through those ploys.
@Nan G:
I wouldn’t bet on it. We’ve seen their grip on reality (or lack thereof) here on this site.

1. Positive changes have already happened: Affordable Health Care is now the law of the land; the economy has greatly improved since 2008; Osama bin Laden is history; al Qaeda’s top leaders are all gone; illegal immigration is at the lowest level in 40 years. Don’t you listen to the news?
2. Truth gets repeated because it doesn’t change.
3. There’s not much about the republican world view or attitude about the poor that Jesus would approve of. The right claims him, but twists or totally ignores almost everything He said.
Of course they are desperate!
Democratic congressman, Rep. Mike McIntyre has REFUSED to ENDORSE Obama!
Democratic congressman, Rep. Larry Kissell also has REFUSED to ENDORSE Obama!
17 Democrats voted with Republicans to hold Attorney General Eric Holder in criminal contempt of Congress!
More than that number of Democrats voted with Republicans to hold Attorney General Eric Holder in civil contempt of Congress!
Sens. Claire McCaskill of Missouri,
Jon Tester of Montana,
Joe Manchin of West Virginia,
Reps. Nick Rahall of West Virginia,
Mark Critz of Pennsylvania and
Jim Matheson of Utah,
Reps. Rep. Stephen Lynch and Richard Neal, both of Massachusetts,
Texas Rep. Henry Cuellar,
and a growing list of more incumbents and candidates are all skipping the DNC Convention this time around!
Some time back Obama threw his fellow Democrats in elective office and running for elective office under his bus.
Obama told them no Obama Money would be coming their way.
None at all.
And as little DNC money as he could manage would go anyone’s way but his own way.
So, maybe Obama’s minister (doing a sermon in DC this week) was correct when he spoke about how chickens come home to roost.
LOL!
