AP and Fox are reporting that HHS Secretary Kathleen Sebelius is resigning. No date has been given yet.
Sebelius presided over the botched rollout of Healthcare.gov, and has been caught breaking federal laws against engaging in political activity on government time. More recently, she was caught disowning her own claim that 7 million Obamacare enrollees would constitute success, before the Obama administration claimed to have reached that magical number.
While it would be nice to think that failure and dishonesty have caught up with Sebelius, the reality is that she is probably leaving government for more lucrative reasons.
Her replacement’s confirmation hearing might have been interesting in the past…..before the nuclear option neutered them.
After all Sylvia Mathews Burwell was the person who ordered the shutdown of the US government last year.
But I think the hearings will be all about her looks and that she’s a woman and such-like inanities.
The WH has not been happy with her…
No time frame given…just that she is resigning… I see this as a well timed diversion to the IRS scandal that is getting Hot…Pivot!! Pivot everyone…!
What is going to be really interesting is how all this is going to play out down the road with her ‘replacement’ … I think this is just another way of dragging this disaster as far as it will go…
I think the thing to consider is the attempt at propaganda coming with a new HHS chief before the pending elections. Sebelius is too easy a target as the face of obamacare failure. The dems can now put forward a fresh face, equipped with a propaganda statements like, “this new person can ‘fix’ all the problems of obamacare.”
