Fox News says John Boehner will resign in October

Speaker John Boehner told GOP lawmakers On Friday he will resign at the end of October.

The embattled Boehner said he would resign from both his speakership and his House seat, he told GOP lawmakers at a closed-door conference.

“Speaker Boehner believes that the first job of any Speaker is to protect this institution and, as we saw yesterday with the Holy Father, it is the one thing that unites and inspires us all,” a Boehner aide said.

The aide said Boehner had only been planning to serve through the end of last year, but decided to stay on after then-House Majority Leader Eric Cantor (R-Va.) suffered a stunning primary loss.

“The Speaker believes putting members through prolonged leadership turmoil would do irreparable damage to the institution,” the aide said.

“He is proud of what this majority has accomplished, and his Speakership, but for the good of the Republican Conference and the institution, he will resign the Speakership and his seat in Congress, effective October 30.”

No word on whether he will cry

His departure doesn’t mean a better leadership will result. Give Boehner credit in that he didn’t “whip” his caucus to vote a certain way on the big legislative items. Did he reassign certain members on committees? Yes, but every speaker has done this to both their friends and foes. Politics has always been a very dirty game with no rules.

Skook, at the very least, will get this:
When the Values Voter Forum learned this from Marco Rubio (who happened to be the speaker when this was announced) they erupted in such applause that poor Marco had to suddenly adjust his praise for John B into a ”we are turning a page,” off the cuff remark.
Mark Anthony (as done by William S.) would have been proud.

Good reddens to this piece of trash. Ohio trash-drinks like a fish and smokes 2+ pks/day. Betrayed the people in Ohio who voted for him in the last election. Served as the fool’s play toy in the house to move the fool’s agenda thought the house. Should be arrested as a terrorist. This man brokered the Iran deal with the slut clinton.
No different than billy.

This response, from another House republican:

“The dynamics are this,” he (Rep. Charlie Dent) continued. “There are anywhere from two to four dozen members who don’t have an affirmative sense of governance. They can’t get to yes. They just can’t get to yes, and so they undermine the ability of the speaker to lead. And not only do they undermine the ability of the speaker to lead, but they undermine the entire Republican conference and also help to weaken the institution of Congress itself. That’s the reality.

Boehner wasn’t really the problem. The far right has given the country a non-functional Congress. The problem remains. Lots of luck to his replacement.

First scalp: Boehner steps down

62% of republicans feel betrayed by the party.

Meanwhile today, second scalp: Hillary Clinton (perjury)

The Obama administration has discovered a chain of emails that Hillary Rodham Clinton failed to turn over when she provided what she said was the full record of work-related correspondence as secretary of state … This was leaked by the Obama administration, The messages were exchanged with retired Gen. David Petraeus when he headed the military’s U.S. Central Command, responsible for running the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Both parties are panicking.
