WASHINGTON (AP) — House of Representatives Speaker John Boehner on Friday declared he would schedule a vote to create a special committee to investigate the Benghazi attack, escalating a political battle that has raged since the final days of President Barack Obama’s re-election campaign.
Boehner, the most powerful Republican in Congress, said U.S. officials misled the American people after the Sept. 11, 2012, assault on the U.S. diplomatic post in Libya that killed Ambassador Chris Stevens and three other Americans. He said emails released this week showed the White House has withheld documents from congressional investigators and asked, “What else about Benghazi is the Obama administration still hiding from the American people?”
“Americans learned this week that the Obama administration is so intent on obstructing the truth about Benghazi that it is even willing to defy subpoenas issued by the standing committees of the people’s House,” Boehner said in a statement. “These revelations compel the House to take every possible action to ensure the American people have the truth about the terrorist attack on our consulate that killed four of our countrymen.”
Republicans have accused the Obama administration of seeking to deceive the public about the true circumstances of the attack during the final months of the 2012 presidential campaign — charges which the president and other U.S. officials reject.
For Boehner, appointing a special committee raises the profile of one of the Republicans’ main points of attack against Obama ahead of November’s midterm congressional elections, and on former Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton ahead of what may be another presidential campaign in 2016. It could also unify the Republican approach, which showed fissures Thursday as two powerful Republican committee chairmen sparred over whether the military was prevented from responding to the attack.

Right.
To be headed by Eric Cantor. To be assisted by RINOs only, plus some friendly Dems.
Nothing will come of this.
Executive Privilege covers all the perpetrators.
Remember: it was in our best interest that Zippy be re-elected. That means any lie was justified. Hildebeast cannot be touched, nor can any of the WH staff. Their interest was solely political and thus justified.
Most grave consequences await any Member of the House who questions the revealed authority. All of those federal agencies who purchased all of that ammunition need a target, after all.
And the whole thing is racially motivated, anyway. Those who were killed were white. What more do we need to say? Justice Quotamayor has explained that all whites are automatically racist. It is time for blacks (and Puerto Ricans) to take over everything.
No news here. Just move along.
Boehner is a total disappointment and an appeaser for the LEFT. mathman is correct! This will go nowhere Boehner is catching on….but, onto the wrong things…like…make like you are doing ‘something’ then just do nothing….CAVE…waste some more time and some more taxpayer money….pathetic!
The Democrats already have a ‘battle’ brewing…the battle has nothing to do with anything other then ‘political’ points and VOTES! It has nothing to do with the health of our Economy.
It will have everything to do with placing more of a drag on our fragile economy – the minimum wage. The spin on the minimum wage NOW according to the drones in the Democratic Party is that ‘no one can ‘live’ on the current min wage.
AS IF the minimum wage is suppose to be a “living wage” AND OF COURSE the dimocrats will place blame on the Republicans for rejecting any increases….if they don’t ‘cave’ . And, of course the (no) and low information crowd (to put it nicely) will jump on the lefts bandwagon demanding a higher minimum wage when economics 101 will always point to the economic danger of this.
Again the left does not care about actually being educated in this area. Then when things go south because of this kind of stupidity, they will be the first to cry NOT FAIR – NOT FAIR!! Idiots.
