Another Cuomo accuser comes forward: Let the games begin

By Howard Portnoy

It just got a little hotter in Albany and for the Democratic Party in general. A second Cuomo aide has come forward and accused the New York governor of sexual impropriety, and the spotlight now shifts to include the party that sought to make an example out of then-Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh.

The latest charges are particularly ugly. According to The Sun, “Charlotte Bennett, 25, claimed her 63-year-old boss quizzed her about her sex life after she went to him for help as a survivor of sexual assault”:

She told the New York Times Cuomo asked if her she was monogamous in her relationships and if she had ever had sex with older men.

“I understood that the governor wanted to sleep with me, and felt horribly uncomfortable and scared,” she said.

“And was wondering how I was going to get out of it and assumed it was the end of my job.”

She said she left the governor’s office in November following the alleged harassment, which came during the height of the Covid pandemic.

It’s hard to imagine something more perverse than hitting on a woman in the vulnerable state Bennett says she was in.

Naturally there are two sides to this story, though for Democrats there was only one when the accused was Kavanaugh. Despite the conspicuous lack of specifics in accuser Christine Blasey Ford’s testimony, members of the Senate Judiciary Committee were only too willing to accept “her truth,” as many curiously termed it. Among those who did was now-Vice President Kamala Harris, who a year after the judge’s confirmation called for formal impeachment proceedings against him based on Blasey Ford’s accusations.

“Believe all women,” became the Democrats’ battle cry until May of 2020, when sexual allegations against then-candidate Joe Biden prompted them to abandon it.

And now here they are again.
