A Tale of One Tragedy and Two Campaigns

As I am sure you have heard several states are in a state of emergency due to a sudden thunder-storm that was accompanied by high winds. Millions were left without power during days of record heat. I am among the powerless.

The people of Virginia have been struggling to find cool places to stay. Hotel rooms are sold out and the few malls that are opened are jam-packed with people looking for some relief from the heat and some hot food. In my area there is one gas station open. One major mall had to close early Saturday evening due to no water. The only thing open for miles was a McDonald’s.

In response to this emergency the presidential campaigns handled it in this fashion:

First from the Romney Campaign through email:

Friend, The severe storms that ripped through Virginia Friday claimed at least six lives across the commonwealth and left thousands without power. It could be several days before power is restored to those affected.

If you’d like to make a donation to the relief effort, please bring supplies to the Romney for President Headquarters located at 3811 N. Fairfax Dr., Suite 750 in Arlington tomorrow between 10am and 7pm.

We will distribute donations to various relief centers in the area.

Here’s what we need:

  • Bottled Water
  • Non-perishable food items, such as beef jerky, granola bars, peanut butter, etc.

Bring your supply donations to our headquarters tomorrow and we’ll ensure it gets to your fellow Virginians who are in need on Tuesday.

Thank you in advance for your generosity.

Sincerely,

Sara Craig Virginia State Manager

P.S. We know that everyone wanting to help cannot make it to Arlington. If you would like to donate to the Red Cross, please call 1-800-Red-Cross, or visit this link to make a donation online: http://www.redcross.org/portal/site/en/menuitem.d8aaecf214c576bf971e4cfe43181aa0/?vgnextoid=46f51a53f1c37110VgnVCM1000003481a10aRCRD&vgnextfmt=default

From the Obama Campaign Via Twitter:

Keep cool while you’re canvassing this summer, Our Vote Obama Tank Top is a stylish and fun way to show your support

While some may say that the Romney campaign may just be pandering to people who are dealing with an emergency, there are plenty of stories of how Romney has handled emergencies in the past. One such story being the story of a co-worker’s daughter who was kidnapped while out partying in New York. He shut down Bain, flew the employees up to New York City, set up a nerve center, and canvassed the city with flyers until the girl was found and returned home to her anxious parents.

This is who Romney is.

Obama wants you to buy a $30 T-shirt.

I am convinced that Romney’s concern and offeer to help are sincere; as a person he’s a sincere man, a good fatherand husbad-no doubts here!

Narcissus on the other hand doesn’t give a damn, as long as it does not affect him, why should he care? That’s the same guy who takes his wife, or alone on 18 vacations in 3+ yrs, flies all overthe US to collect money for his campaign, derelict his duties daily – all on taxpayers dime.

Take a look at his charities giving – not much there there. So, yes I’d say he once again gives these americans the middle finger, as usual.

I pray for all of you to find comfort, safety and relief!

Great response from Romney.
Obama did a fly-over of Colorado’s wildfires.
He told the firefighters that he was with them in spirit.
But he’s cutting the number of planes that can be outfitted for water dropping by 50%.
So, empty words….again.

Your email from Romney reminded me of another time he helped a stranger out.
A storm had gone through an area and the guy had a bunch of trees down.
He had Romney’s son come by and join him in the clean up.
Then, when it came time to dig the huge root of the big tree out Romney, himself, showed up and worked on it with his son.
Their reward was a fast food lunch.

But Romney is rich, he has no compassion for the people: Obama on the other hand, is a man of the people. Golf games, vacations, and Hollywood celebrity fundraisers are only diversions from the stress of being a Narcissist.

Romney is just trying to curry favor, like he did in Wisconsin when he gave out sandwiches. Romney is a liar and a flip-flopper—albeit, probably a sincere one.

Curt, if you’re waiting on the Obama FEMA to be there to help you, you are in deep doo-doo.

Remember the massive fire in Bastrop County, Texas (now called the Bastrop County Complex Fire) last year? The fire started the first Sunday in September, and high (60 mph) winds drove it faster than most firefighters had ever seen a wild fire rage. Not only that, but the winds would shift, and cause the fire to go another direction. Being mostly rural, Bastrop County were left with dedicated volunteer fire departments to fight the inferno. The Obama administration’s response? Pathetic.

It took days for Obama to declare the area a national disaster area, freeing up federal resources. Requests for fire fighting units from Fort Hood were denied. The Obama administration sent in representatives from the National Forestry Service, who demanded that the volunteer firefighters, who were not certified by the federal government, leave and not assist in fighting the fires, the very people who had been fighting these fires for day. These representatives were not sent to actually fight the fires, but to make sure that no one who was not approved by the Obama administration could fight the fires, and tried to reduce the actual manpower to the point of absurdity. Two C-130 tankers were sent from California to drop fire retardant on the constantly moving fires, but the federal government decided that a) the pilots had used up their alloted hours and grounded the planes at Austin Airport and then sent them to a smaller, less threatening fire in Conroe, Texas, a bedroom community of Houston. The only helicopters that dropped water were from the Texas National Guard ordered by Governor Perry. The U.S. military was not allowed to participate although Fort Hood was just a short 30 minutes away by air.

A week after the fires started, almost 40,000 acres were destroyed along with 1,557 homes, displacing 6,000+ residents. FEMA finally made an appearance, in the form of two people who set up a tent to “help” those who has lost their homes, etc. The first question out of the FEMA reps mouths was “Did you have home owners insurance?” and if the question was “yes” the residents were told to call a 1-800 number where they simply got a recording, or a buzy signal. Ten months later there are still residents who lost everything that have never heard back from FEMA.

A month later, FEMA showed up with fewer than 100 FEMA trailers to accomodate the 6,000+ who had lost their homes. 1,557 homes lost, less than 100 FEMA trailers provided. Victims of the fire were living with friends, family, in hotels, etc because there was no other option.

The outpouring of generosity from people all across the nation was amazing. Food, water, clothing, bedding, toiletries, etc was donated to the families of Bastrop County. FEMA’s contribution? Nothing.

Did the victims of the Texas wild fires get a visit, a fly over, or even a video from Obama? Nope. Not one word.

Lesson learned: never depend on Obama to even honor FEMA agreements if your area is a blue, conservative area.

And to Liberal1, remember this: Colorado Springs is basically Democrat. So if you want to talk about trying to curry favor, what the hell was Obama doing with his photo-op in Colorado Springs?

WOW!! BUT, is anyone really SURPRISED???

But, now, let’s not be so harsh, because…. I did see a picture once, of OFraud on a step stool… he was… hanging curtains…

THEY ARE DREAMING IN COLOR, hope they get real,
do they think that they are not part of this problem,
and wont suffer the consequences of their votes?
they won’t be spare, by the demolition train,
